<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

  jessicafischerqueen: <nothing unfortunate in that>

So it's good news then Ted!

Excellent.

Feb-19-12  PinnedPiece: <OCF> If you don't have a favorite Irish group yet, I nominate Iona.

Here is a song that admittedly is now 15 years old, but still good.

<Here before my time
walked men of faith and truth
In a land that was dark
they followed the way
Bringing sweet light on an Irish day>

heh it never gets old for me, brilliant. Whether I agree with a particular "two letter one liner" from you or not, never fails to make me smile.

I find it's particularly effective when preceded by a really lengthy re-post.

OhioChessFan: Pray more, read the Bible, find peace in God. We need a special revelation for that? That's already covered in the Bible.

jessicafischerqueen: <Ohio Peacemaker> I will follow your advice, thanks for taking the time to give it. The last time I followed your advice very good things happened.

I'll start by taking that day to cool off.

Feb-27-12  playground player: <Morphyeus> I'm not "protecting" <YouRang>; I'm protecting my forum. If I offered him any kind of "protection," I think he'd be insulted--and rightly so.

What you two guys do elsewhere is none of my business. But I do insist on patience in my own forum.

Otherwise the whole thing just will not work.

jessicafischerqueen: <Lee> I'd like some protection. If you offered me protection I'd feel good.

Neither Mr. JFQ nor myself has ever underestimated the value of pgp protection.

Be dat as it may, considuh y'sself pr'tected.

OhioChessFan: <The database, limited primarily to games where at least one player is of master strength, begins with the earliest known recorded games and is updated with games from current top-level tournaments. Pgn's not available from the chessgames.com staff can be submitted for database update. >

I think this would be better worded:

The database <is> limited primarily to games where at least one player is of master strength. <It> begins with the earliest known recorded games and is continuously updated by the site with games from current top-level tournaments. The site also accepts submissions from members of historical games and also the members' own games.

Mar-01-12  hatsis: I will be intouch, I will try to jot downs more point of interest in the wiki entry for your review. Thanks for the accommodation.

  OhioChessFan: Eliminating 3 words:

<The database <is> limited primarily to games where at least one player is of master strength. <It> begins with the earliest known recorded games and is continuously updated with games from current top-level tournaments. The site also accepts submissions from members of historical games and also the members' own games.>

I also liked the inclusion of an ELO rating to describe what master strength is.

Mar-01-12  hatsis: I like it.

Perhaps we can eliminate the word <also> to be more direct.

<The site <also> accepts submissions from members of historical games and <also the> members' own games.>

jessicafischerqueen: <Ohio> one thing's for certain, he will be back. If there's a pool on what his demeanor will be then, I'd like to choose "unrepentant and surly" if it's not already taken.

OhioChessFan: I'll go with "triumphant", with "at least 2 or 3 emails expressing their outrage at the travesty of justice perpetrated on me."

jessicafischerqueen: <Ohio> interesting- ok then we have a pool of two so far. What should we play for? A bun? Burritos?
Mar-03-12  hms123: <OCF> <jess> I will take "unrepentant and surly" for two tacos.

  OhioChessFan: Current predictions:

<jfq> and <hms> "unrepentant and surly"

<OCF> "triumphant"

2 days to enter. First Prize is 2 tacos (soft tacos if I happen to win).

jessicafischerqueen: Excellent. The game is afoot.
Mar-03-12  crawfb5: I will go with <martyrlike>, but <all of the above> is probably the best bet.
