<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

OhioChessFan: What I listened to today:

McCoy Tyner Trio with Michael Brecker-Where is Love?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5uW...

I've never been a big jazz fan, but I enjoy it in small doses. The album is Infinity.

Jun-24-13  Jim Bartle: I like McCoy Tyner. I once saw him at a club in New York we had to move our chairs so the trombonist wouldn't hit us with his slide.
Jun-25-13  PinnedPiece: <JB: we had to move our chairs so the trombonist wouldn't hit us with his slide.>

I'm assuming the club didn't hold more that about 150 people max.

It has always amazed me that our finest musicians--as opposed to the ear-piercing over-amped thumping, driving rock acts, who fill stadiums--have had to scramble for some venue or other is a small off-mainstreet club in whereverville, or even NY City, to make a living.

I sat a few feet away from Bela Fleck when he brought the Flecktones to Fresno, CA in a little dive in the mid-90s. In my mind he is the consummate jazz-trad banjo player, and I got to chat with him. Unreal. But that's jazz in America, the only place that could produce such music, and the life of such musicians.

.

Jun-25-13  Jim Bartle: Yes, jazzmen play at small venues, but I haven't taken advantage often. There were maybe 60 or 70 people at the McCoy Tyner show. I once saw Roland Kirk in SF and there were no more than 25 people.
Jun-27-13  lotsapoppa: Little known fact- I wasn't just Charlie Manson's drug dealer, I was also a local Jazz Musician.

OhioChessFan: I'm sure it's a coincidence those numbers are 36-24-36. I didn't get to that link until just now, and heard Back in Black on the way home and thought of what a rocker that is and I bet you like it. Then I get here and see you've dropped another AC DC link.
Jun-29-13  Travis Bickle: <OhioChessFan: I'm sure it's a coincidence those numbers are 36-24-36> Elvis that's my phone number. You're so smart, when you figure out the missing digits, give me a ring and I'll be happy to do business with you. ; P
