<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

That was a good one. Way better than most of the ones where the answer was a game number. It is a pity that CG did not use it.

If I were you, I would not disclose any more of the unused ones. They may get used in the future, and without the incentive of a prize I don't think many people would try solving them.

OhioChessFan: Well, I have maybe 14 right now, and of course think of more as time goes on, often without trying. In 2 years of intense lobbying, I got 2 used. Now that people realize it is possible, there's going to be a lot of competition. I don't like the chances of more being used. Maybe I'll post them on the Stumpers page. I'm sure it won't surprise you to know that I sometimes hope that cg.c will coincidentally come up with the same clue idea as I already have.

That was nice of you to drop that link in <pgp's> house. Maybe he can use the idea to help him sell more books.

Did you read the comments section? I was going to post a comment until I saw that all the people there have corporate credentials.

I don't have any credentials myself, so I was afraid if I put something in the comments box a big police icon would pop up and demand to see my credentials.

I didn't get where I am today by having credentials.

Dec-28-13  MarkFinan: Does B.C stand for Blatant cronyism? Probably just me, I'm thick. If only I could see what happens in front of my very eyes. Oh well, can't have it all 😄

OhioChessFan: <JessLife> yes, and I have had a bit of a think about such things recently as my job situation is changing every minute. I am reminded how every Presidential election in these parts, someone will step back and say "Is being the best at <this> process really the best way to select the best person for the job?" When I am told the "secrets" for getting ahead in the workplace, I wonder if <that> is the best way to find the best people for any particular job. When I ask the secret tellers about that, they usually reply with something like "Probably not, but you have to play the game." And here we are.

<Mark> I think many of your comments over at <playground> are unfortunately typical, misguided, and are right out of the agenda's playbook. If you want to know why, we can discuss it.

Dec-28-13  MarkFinan: It's not what I said over there Elvis, although I'll stand by those thoughts and *facts* till the day I die.. Anyway I don't want to discuss them further because you're religious and I'm not, therefore we're bound to disagree. I have friends like you, one of thems always asking me to let Jesus into my life! I love him but he annoys me..

I'll get round to telling you what's on my mind soon enough. ✌

OhioChessFan: Is there something wrong with disagreeing?
Dec-28-13  MarkFinan: No. But that's not my problem with you. Like I just said I'll get round to it!

Btw. My mates a born again christian andllike Glenn Hoddle (ex England manager) he thinks that handicapped people, the mentally ill and retarded, are being punished in this life for crimes committed in past lives. Do you agree with that?

Dec-28-13
Premium Chessgames Member
OhioChessFan: <Do you agree with that?>

No.

May I point out that taking little shots like the "BC" comment, and the various jabs at <playground> and then dismissing them with "I don't want to talk about it" is a bit offputting? Such things don't hurt my feelings, but it's really not kosher, and you do it a whole lot.

Dec-28-13  MarkFinan: Then put me on ignore as opposed to your favourites! I couldn't care less what you think of me and the way I put things!
Dec-28-13  MarkFinan: And you're really dumb if you think my comments at playgroundplayers forum were "jabs!".

And you're even dumber for thinking I didn't want to talk about it!

I only agreed to drop the subject after he suggested it.

And I never talk politics or religion, so I don't do it a whole lot either!

Anyways. For tonight I bid you farewell 😄

Dec-28-13  thegoodanarchist: Here is an oldie written and produced by Sir Paul McCartney. It came out when I was 3 years old and because we lived in Texas at the time I told my mother I thought it was about a piece of ice on the sidewalk.

Thanks for that.

If you guys want to sponsor memberships for a couple of deserving non-premium members like you've done in the past I'll put up the cost for two for one year.
