<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 6 Recap **

Another perfect that round to keep our streak alive. <Penguincw> rode that to a share of the lead in Moves Ranker. <OCF> shares and leads in one ranker, <<WinKing> leads in one, and <juandon'tcallmevaldez31> leads in the #1 Ranker. The site administrators have been called in to investigate the rumors that <Karposian> has tried to bribe <chessmoron> into making sure anyone but <Penguincw> wins gold. We are close to the halfway point in a gripping contest rivaled only by the Super Bowl in excitement. 7 rounds to go.

Jan-22-16  Karposian: Round 7:

Navara - Karjakin 1/2 30
Caruana - Ding 1/2 36
Wei - So 1/2 35
Mamedyarov - Hou 1/2 40
Van Wely - Giri 1/2 38
Tomashevsky - Adams 1/2 31
Eljanov - Carlsen 1/2 33

Jan-22-16  WinKing: <chessmoron> you might want to check the # of moves in the Round 6 Adams - Van Wely game. Chessbomb shows 38 moves but chess24 & the official site of Tata Steel show 39 moves. That does affect the scoring. I just caught this myself. That would take away a Perfect game.
Jan-22-16  WinKing: To be honest I am not sure which is correct.
Jan-22-16

Penguincw: chess24 I don't think has made an error before, so I almost want to go with them. 2700chess.com also displays 39 moves.

Meanwhile, chessdom has 38 moves, and they're usually wrong in disputes, so it's likely 39 moves.

The <cg> database currently says 38 moves.

Jan-22-16  chessmoron: ♙ <Bummer! The streak ends at 5.>

Jan-22-16  WinKing: I don't really want to take anything away from you <Penguincw>. I just want correct scores. I think we can all agree on that. If it can't be proven one way or another then leave the scoring where it is. <chessmoron> has to make the call. I respect whatever his decision is.
Jan-22-16  Golden Executive: The game finished by a 3-fold repetition with 39.rd2
Jan-22-16  Karposian: I think <Penguincw> is correct. On the official site's live games feed, it seems that Adams played 39.Rd2:

http://www.tatasteelchess.com/live

If you click down to the Adams-Van Wely game, you will see that the final move on the board is 39.Rd2.

Jan-22-16  WinKing: When you have different websites giving different move counts for the same game it makes it tough.
Jan-22-16  Karposian: <Golden Executive> I only saw your post after I had posted mine. That confirms it, the game lasted 39 moves.

Penguincw: Tough luck, as I lose twice and the streak of perfect predictions ends at 7 (last 2 from LCC). But time to start a new streak!

A notable round for sure, as <cm> (very impressively) hadn't made an error all contest, and then this round, wow.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 6 Updated Recap **

The perfect streak is over. In a shocking display of hyper-competitiveness, <Karposian> didn't bribe <chessmoron> as rumored, but instead bribed <2 other websites!> to change their scoring. <OhioChessFan> is almost heartbroken to be sole leader of Moves Ranker, and really can't be consoled by the fact that he already has passed the 100 point plateau in Moves + Bonus Ranker. A protest march is being planned on <Penguincw's> behalf, with several people already outside holding signs that say "Black and White Lives Matter!" And was it really a coincidence all this happened just as the nefarious <ChessBookie> made another appearance? Stay tuned for the dramatic conclusion of our contest.
