<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

Mar-13-16  WinKing: Hey <chessmoron> are you sure that Giri - Karjakin game was 29 moves long. I show it being 30 moves. Might want to check that. It affects the scoring.
Mar-13-16  Golden Executive: Yep, chessbase, chessbomb and chess24 have 30 moves which would mean an exact for <Penguincw> and <SwitchingQuylthulg>.
Mar-13-16  WinKing: <SwitchingQuylthulg> might have two perfect picks if that game was 30 moves. chess24, Chessdom & ChessBomb all show that game being 30 moves.
Mar-13-16  WinKing: Oh your right <GE> that would give <Penguincw> a perfect pick also.

OhioChessFan: nrk.no has it in 30. chessgames.com has it in 29. Playing the game over, the 29 move version makes more sense, but one more check by White is certainly possible.

OhioChessFan: Looking at chessbase now and they have even Black making a 30th move, which seems a bit much, but certainly possible. Got a day to worry about it.
Mar-13-16  WinKing: Hey check this out guys. Might be old news but it's the first time I've seen it.

Mar-13-16  Golden Executive: The official web site shows 30 moves http://worldchess.com/2016/03/13/fl...

Penguincw: Yeah, when I was reviewing the scores, I thought it was 30 moves as well, but couldn't double check it (mobile is hard to navigate).

Uh, does anyone have footage of R3? The only thing I could find was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWX.... If you pause at 58:06/58:37, it shows the position after 27.dxc5, but not any further...

So nice of you to point that out :)

Mar-14-16  Karposian: <Penguincw: Thanks <cm>, <OCF>, <GE> and <WK>. :)>

Yeah, thanks guys! FOR RUINING MY DAY EVEN MORE. Not only did I not get a single point from today's games, but I have to see <Pengo> get another perfect pick? This is too much.

I will to my deathbed forever claim that the A Giri vs Karjakin, 2016 game was only 29 moves long.

Hey, at least you're not the only one. Oh wait, you are.

OhioChessFan: <chessmoron> you listed <WinKing> as a 2x perfect predictor on the corrected version, when in fact he had 1x and <Penguin> had 1x. I am stunned <Penguin> didn't point that out. Anyway, the scores look fine, and the 30 moves does look right, strange as that last move was.
Mar-14-16  wordfunph: Round 4:

Penguincw: Right now, I'm having done computer problems (should be fixed soon), but in the meantime

Round 5:

Toplalov - Giri 1/2-1/2 42

Caruana - Karjakin 1/2-1/2 38

Mar-14-16  Karposian: <OhioChessFan: I am stunned <Penguin> didn't point that out.>

<penguincw>'s momentary lapse of concentration shocked me, too.

Let's hope it continues..

And I hate to admit it, but I agree with you that the Giri-Karjakin game lasted 30 moves. I took the job of checking it with multiple sources, and 30 moves definitely seems to be correct.
