<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

OhioChessFan: Wildly entertaining game that lasted a long time with an odd material imbalance. 41...Ke5 was losing, as it gave up the skewer on the two Rooks on the long diagonal. 41...Kd7 would have been fine.

Does this not mean that he joined in 2002, and then time traveled 1004 years into the past to make the kibbutz?>

Well, maybe 104 and not 1004.

I saw how you made "email" and started laughing, so I posted the link to member "emil" in here and then typed in "lol."

<Ohio> re my "discovery" that you probably already knew about- I just realized that it offers a second way to "cheat" on blue letter writing.

Making a new account is for sure cheating. But so is this- I had trouble finding the <Bale> for <Christian Bale>, and I was tempted to do this:

Was there- that's a legit user name.

You obviously have a foghorny memory as you addressed the fake blue link idea 2 years ago, to wit:

OhioChessFan chessforum (kibitz #10369)

I can't find where you suggested it would be okay to create a fake account when a blue link was desperately needed, but it's there, somewhere, in the anals of history.

OhioChessFan: One other point of blue link etiquette. You will note that when I posted a link to user Bay, I had a capital B. That's because I physically typed the capital B into the kibitzing box. If you simply copy/paste the link from that user's page, it will be a lower case b. Or, if you are dropping a link to that page, on most browsers, anyway, again, it will show in all loser case. IMHO, if a user goes to all the trouble of holding down the Shift key when setting up an account, we should at least do the honor of capitalizing that part of their name they wish to be capitalized.

OhioChessFan: *** The World is Impatiently Waiting! ***

Just in time to help the United States overcome its national election malaise, it's only a few more days until the World Chess Championship Moves Prediction Contest! The greatest predictors in the World are lined up to challenge one another for the ultimate in prediction stardom. The excitement is building. The contestants are studying past WCC events to see whether both sides will come out gunning for a win or playing carefully until the right time. They are poring over the past tournament records of Magnus Carlsen and Sergey Karjakin for even the tiniest indication of how they will approach this match.

Two of our most honored contestants are sure to be real crowd pleasers in this event. <Switch> may be too busy with his endorsement deal as he's taken over most of Ryan Lochte's gig. When the advertisers discovered <Switch> had 22! golds, and a promise to never urinate anywhere he shouldn't, they realized they had a new spokesman. Adding to the excitement, all the contestants are eagerly awaiting the appearance of <WinKing> and his new eye candy paramour, Laurie Hernandez. The most searched Youtube term during the last Olympics was "Laurie Hernandez WinKing", so we all hope he brings her along to cheer him on.

Monitors and screens are freshly windexed, keyboards are turned over and tapped on, data plans are double checked, Samsungs are fireproofed, and the contestants are reminding themselves to just breathe.......breathe......breathe. Hold on to your hats, as the fireworks will be here before you know it!

OhioChessFan: *** World Championship of Chess Moves Prediction Contest News Update!!! ***

There are major concerns about the integrity of our contest. International intrigue is in the air, as <OhioChessFan> and <chessmoron> work feverishly to ensure that Russian hackers don't impact this event. Microsoft has had a team of engineers working 24/7 for the past week on cyber security, but the contestants are still greatly concerned. Many of the contestants were pleading for <Switch> to give up his endorsement career and instead protect the Moves Prediction Contest from illegal tampering. When contacted, <Switch> said "Sure, I can do that. Why even mess with Microsoft? Just give me a cell phone, a Speak and Spell, 10 feet of cable wire, a roll of aluminin foil, and a beta version of AVAST. I'll have it taken care of faster than Kasparov can take a move back against Polgar."

Embarrassingly, there is a concern that <Switch> will expect to be paid for his efforts. <chessmoron> has been in contact with Microsoft Norway and hopes that if the Carlsen team hires <Switch> he'll forget about sending the contest a bill. <chessmoron> has in reserve a plan to award an extra gold medal for "Best Computer Contest Protector Thingy" and that <Switch> will be so flattered he'll forgo payment.

In other news, <Penguincw> has threatened not to concede if he doesn't win at least one gold medal. In his statement to the press, he said, "I'll tie the Supreme Court up for years to get my way, blah blah blah. I will not be intimidated by any false claims that I've lost and will expect a careful recount of every round, blah blah blah. I'll expect the Medals Award Committee to go to the ends of the earth, or at least Antarctica, to prove they are correct, blah blah blah. I can hardly be accused of improper behavior as I won the Most Helpful Caissar last year, blah blah blah. Blah blah blah. Blah."

Stay tuned, contestants and fans, things are going to get very exciting, very quickly.

  OhioChessFan: **Let the Picking Begin**

Welcome to the World Champiionship of Chess Moves Prediction Contest. This contest involves picking a game result (1-0 1/2 or 0-1) and the number of moves in the game. As an example, if in the first round game you think Carlsen with White will defeat Karjakin in 40 moves, your entry would say:

Carlsen-Karjakin 1-0 40

While it is a bit more complicated than the game prediction contest hosted by <GoldenExecutive> it isn't <that> much more complicated. I think my profile as written by <chessmoron> does a pretty good job explaining how things work.

A few odds and ends. Scoring mistakes occasionally happen. Let <chessmoron> know, on this forum. Quickly. It can seem intimidating to new players, but no worries. Feel free to ask questions. I will point out the scoring system (in my profile) is heavily weighted toward being under and not over, the actual number of moves.
