<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 8 Recap **

The contest went from red hot to triple boiling that round. <GE> had a huge round to move into the Moves Ranker lead, and is tied for #1 Ranker. <amw> continues to lead in Bonus Ranker. <word> continues to lead the highly coveted Moves+Bonus Ranker, and tied for the lead in #1 Ranker, as is <Count Wedgemore>. <word> is still in the hunt for a Quadruple Crown, but a number of challengers have emerged to try to shatter that dream.

In other news, <Pengo> annoyed everyone in the playing arena by talking incessantly about the Toronto Raptors and how great they are. When asked about the Toronto Maple Leafs and how bad they are, <Pengo> began talking incessantly about the Toronto Raptors and how great they are. Not to be outdone, <bubuli> annoyed all the fans by pretending to call the chess matches as boxing matches, and doing it in a Howard Cosell voice. Meanwhile, <Count Wedgemore> was called on to discuss the Carlsen-Yu game. When <Count> said “It’s not impossible for Yu to hold this”, the entire arena erupted in laughter. 2 moves later, the game was over. <GE> was called on for his opinion of the Armageddon games, and he decisively stated, “Well, I think it favors White. Unless it favors Black.”

Meanwhile, in <GE’s> contest, <GE> showed a shocking lack of competitive spirit by helping <wordfunph> to win. <OCF> correctly challenged that, but then in another shocking lack of competitive spirit, he backed down, saying, “Well, I know <word> is good enough to win without the extra help anyway.” It appears the whole incident created a budding bromance. <chess moron> was a bit put out, though, asking <word> where the love for him was. <word> would do well to remember that you need to be sure to express your appreciation to anyone who is 7’ 6”.

So, this is it. One round left to have your dreams fulfilled, or shattered. One round to make your mark on the world or be left on the ash heaps of history. Can <word> make a run at a Quadruple Crown? Will <GE> or <amw> or <Count> stop him? Can someone else sneak out of the pack with a huge round? The contestants are nervous, the fans are restless, and the fever is high. It's the last round, and the crowd rises...

Jun-14-19  WinKing: Thanks to <chessmoron> & <OhioChessFan> for running & hosting another great contest! Thought we might see another Quadruple Crown winner. Not this time.

Congratulations to all of the winners & there were quite a few! Outstanding finish by Double Crown winner <Golden Executive>. Hitting an 'Exact' in the Moves Ranker, in the final round, to lock up a couple of Golds. Kudos to <wordfunph> & <alfamikewhiskey> on picking up a Gold each. Tight race going on for Gold supremacy in this contest between <OCF-21G's>, <GE-21G's> & <wordfunph-22G's>. Good stuff!

  OhioChessFan: ** Final Recap **

It was a mad rush to the finish line, surpassing anything ever seen in the Tour de France. <GE> managed to win 2 golds, <amw> won 1, and <wordfunph> won the highly coveted Moves+Bonus Ranker gold. <chessmoron> had advance warning that <GE> was going to start talking about "modality" again, so he quickly ran out the door, and demanded <WinKing> stay and do the scoring. <Winky> decided to show <OCF> a little love, and gave him a bronze medal he didn't deserve, hoping <chessmoron> wouldn't come back and check.

While everyone was waiting for the medals to be awarded, <Schwartz> began a speech telling about his very interesting and exciting observations of vultures. "You see", he said, "that when a person is in the lush valleys and looks toward the albino vultures in the blue skies....". Unfortunately, at that point, every single person in the audience fell asleep, and <Schwartz's> very interesting and exciting observations were lost to history. While they were asleep, <GE> came by and said into the microphone, "So, who wants to discuss modality?" At that point, the entire crowd ran screaming from the playing arena.

Thanks to <chessmoron> for running the contest. Thanks to <Winky> for all around support. And thanks to all the contestants. Hope to see you at the Grand Chess Tour.
