<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

I’m not seeing any praise for him tho’, what are you referring to?

  OhioChessFan: Yawn, <Tiggler>. I accept your concession speech. I like how you think a page of your histrionics somehow indicts ME. A little self reflection would do you well. I'm particularly amused by your taking a last verbal swipe at me, then demanding I leave. That is grade school, sir. Time to grow up.

  OhioChessFan: Well, we have a new worst pun of the year. Seriously, who decided to run this one?
Jul-16-20  jith1207: Ha ha.. As I said

<Yeah it also depends on who in <CG> is in charge of the selections, a very important factor.

Nowadays, the pun and name match with the player(s) is given much favorable consideration while a good pun describing the game without referring any of the players or their names even if it matches the game doesn't seem to be given the same. Thus we see a lot of puns like this very game where pun is good for the names of the players but not so much of a game to be considered, as originally intended in game quality section in pun voting booth.>

Jul-25-20  thegoodanarchist: <OhioChessFan: Well, <tga>, I submitted the pun a while back, really hoping it'd be used today. A week ago, I almost emailed Annie to specifically request it, but I decided to trust her and not interfere in the pun process. Then forgot about it. My trust was rewarded.

Today, I opened chessgames, and there it was. And I had tears in my eyes. I am inspired now to change my kibitzing habits, maybe be a little more like Daniel. We'll see how it goes.

This site is a beautiful part of my life.>

<OhioBioFan>

To be sure- contrast the wealth of biographical information in Adolf Zytogorski 's kibbutz box with the fact that there has yet to be one word written in his bio. Actually not one letter has been written.

I came here today to ask if you might be interested or willing to help me edit the Vladimir Fedorovich Ostrogsky bio I just finished writing a few minutes ago.

I have been "editing" it as I've gone along, but there is a big difference between my "editing" and editing, if you catch my drift...

<Ohio> Jinx!

I was just now outside on my balcony "reading" a German chess book (looking at the pictures) and I literally just thought of you- hoping you would be willing to help out on <Mysterious Ostrogsky>.

Imagine my surprise to come inside and see your post!

Aug-13-20  jith1207: Just a suggestion in reading these bio, something seems to have changed nowadays.

The references to the source articles or links appear right after each sentence, which makes it very difficult to read, losing the continuity in reading the bio. Especially with <CG> requiring us to scroll left and right to complete reading each line particularly in mobile, there seems to be no continuity from the end of the line to next as the source comes in between, I as a reader get lost. Imagine having to go through this in a real book.

Is this something because the bio is work in progress or is it going to be how it looks in final version?

I think one would prefer the source references to be listed at the bottom end of the bio, with only numbering mentioned in between the lines.

<jith 1207>

This one: <because the bio is work in progress.>

Editing a biography of any size in the templates we are offered is a nightmare if you put the numbered ref. notes in the body of the text before you are absolutely sure what order they will be in when you are finished editing.

This is particularly true in my case, because I always ask for research and editing help when I write a long bio.

It looks like <Ligonis Berzins> is finished now, so I will soon put the numbers back in and put all the source listings at the bottom of the text.

It will be a longer wait for <Mysterious Ostrogsky> since I just finished it a few days ago. I am still editing it myself and <OhioBioFan> has kindly agreed to help, so the order of the references is still liable to change.

On shorter bios I put the numbered references in the text and the full citation listed under the text right from the beginning, because normally I'm working with a very small number of sources.

In a short text, any changes that need to be made later can be done quickly and easily.

Also <Annie> just reiterated her promise that the player pages will soon have proper margins.

Instead of no margins at all.

I am sure she will make good on this promise. She always does.
