| Oct-14-15 | | Jim Bartle: Actually, once again, those odds show the Cubs will not be the favorite after tomorrow's games. They're the only team already in the final four, while all the other teams have to win a single game to get there. Flip a coin odds:
Chicago 3-1
LA 7-1
KC 7-1
Mets 7-1
Toronto 7-1
Houston 7-1
Texas 7-1 |

 | | WannaBe: Cheapest seat at Wrigley for game 3 are going for $454! (Yes, it's nose-bleed). Steve Bartman section are going as high as $1,400.
Or you can sit across the street on roof top for $335. Behind home plate, they are going for $2,059

| Oct-14-15 | | Jim Bartle: Are the rooftop seats owned by the Cubs, or by the homeowners? I think the new scoreboards and all were built to stop building owners from selling rooftop seats, quite a few of which no longer view the field. If that is what happened, I think it was a huge mistake. The rooftop seats are/were a key part of the atmosphere at Wrigley, and of the Cubs' image. |

 | | WannaBe: Updated numbers for today's two Game 5s:
Toronto -162 8 O/U, KC -125 7.5 O/U |

| Oct-14-15 | | Black Ops: <Jim Bartle> Once again Mr Know It All is confused! In Vegas there are many many professional gamblers who make a living placing large wagers... So Vegas doesn't go by your street logic to calculate billions of dollars on point spreads! |

 | | WannaBe: <Jim Caple
Senior Writer, ESPN.com
It is around 50 degrees and mostly cloudy in Toronto. Not that outside weather matters because the roof is closed. The Blue Jays are 38-14 with roof open this year and 11-16 with it closed (including first two games of this series).> |

 | | WannaBe: And Texas is on the board, 1-0. |

Oct-14-15
 | | Penguincw: Blue Jays strand a pair with no one out, Texas takes advantage, going ahead 2-0. |

 | | WannaBe: We are all tied at 2! |
|
| Oct-14-15 | | Jim Bartle: Help! What's the rule? Catcher's throw to pitcher hits the bat. |
|
Oct-14-15
 | | WannaBe: Offensive pass interference, 15 yards. |
|
| Oct-14-15 | | Jim Bartle: Elvis Andrus is having a Willie Davis inning. I feel a little sorry for him. |
|
Oct-14-15
 | | WannaBe: Annnnnnnd we are tied, again, at 3. Two outs, men at the corners. That's the thing with sports (in general), you can watch thousands and thousands of games and something that have NEVER EVER happened, will happen. |

Oct-14-15
 | | WannaBe: So nice to see the players and coaches all empty out of the dugouts. The grounds crew need help picking up all the litters. |
|
Oct-14-15
 | | WannaBe: That 7th inning? Took 53 minutes. It just may take that long to play out the 8th, too. It's almost like watching Gone With the Wind but without Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh and that 20 minute intermission. =)) |
|
| Oct-14-15 | | Jim Bartle: How many minutes playing baseball and how much arguing, umpires conferring, fighting, cleaning up trash, etc.? |

 | | WannaBe: Jays win, Jays win!! |
|
| Oct-14-15 | | Jim Bartle: Andrus has been a good player for a long time, but he had a terrible game. He got thrown out trying to steal third with two out, an absolute no-no. Then in the seventh he muffed a grounder, dropped a poor low throw at second, and then just dropped a good throw at third. Unreal. Bautista looked like he was so deep in concentration when he hit the home run that he didn't react. Just stared for about three seconds, then threw the bat away. |

 | | Phony Benoni: Darn. Looks like the Astros' chance was in game 4.
I was hoping they would lose to the Cubs. Then we culd say that Chicago may have finally won the World Series, but they still haven't' defeated a real American League team! |
|
Oct-14-15
 | | WannaBe: Okay, 7-2, KC ahead, top 9th. Anyone seeing HOU doing a KC-esque come back? No? Okay, so we have 2 teams with virtually identical colours playing for the AL Championship. Let's just hope the players don't get confused and throw the ball to the wrong guys on the field. =) |

 | | Penguincw: Don't kill me: http://blog.chron.com/ultimateastro.... Anyway, it looks to be a TOR-KC ALCS now.
I did listen to the game via. radio, the 8th inning and beyond, but unfortunately, had other priorities. Let me just say, today should've been a national holiday in honour of the Blue Jays. It should be illegal to work on these types of days. No one can focus anyway. :p |

 | | WannaBe: So, in a nut-shell, regardless who wins AL, they will have home field over NL. TV executives are crying their eyes out, I mean, KC, Toronto? Two great cities, but as far as TV market's concerned... Good thing, regardless who plays Cubs or who wins NL, between the 3 (remaining) teams, big market, I mean <BIG>. NY, LA, number 1 and 2, Cubs in the World Series? Stadium will be filled with goats, <FREE ADMISSION>. The place will have more goats than your Iowa State Farm Fair at Des Moines. (And stinkyer, too!!) If them Cubs make it to the WS, FOX may actually get higher rating than Simpsons reruns. But not as high as Married With Children reruns. |

 | | Penguincw: < TV executives are crying their eyes out, I mean, KC, Toronto? Two great cities, but as far as TV market's concerned... > Well, Toronto I consider to be big market, because a whole nation of about ~35 million people are watching. Also, a TOR-KC, that's like the matchup, everyone wants to see. Trust me, there's some unfinished business: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eN...
The World Series everyone wants to see is TOR-CHC.
Of course, I could be biased.
But hey, for the first time since 2009, neither the Cardinals or Giants will be in the World Series! |
|
| Oct-14-15 | | Jim Bartle: <So, in a nut-shell, regardless who wins AL, they will have home field over NL.> Isn't that still determined by the All-Star game? |
|
Oct-14-15
 | | WannaBe: <JB> Funny you mention that... KC 95 wins regular season
TOR 93
CHI 97 (Wild Card)
LAD 92
NYM 90
So, thus far, Cubs have not only survived a tough-tough-tough Central Division, where Cards won 100 games, and Pirates finished a game ahead of Chicago, they don't get home field! Not in the National League Championship, not in the World Series!! I don't think they really care, as they get the extra days rest and during the regular season, Chicago's 48-33 on the road. Guess who won more games on the road? (Both AL & NL) |
