 | | Sneaky: Welcome to Sneaky's Place. Make yourself comfortable! Take your shoes off, sit a spell! |
|
| Jan-09-06 | | blingice: Ah, the "More..." button doesn't go back all the way. I was excited to see a humongous list. See ya, I suppose. |
|
Jan-09-06
 | | Sneaky: Oh look at that, a more "More..." link. I hadn't noticed that. Well gee whiz this place gets fancier every day. Anyhow, if it went back all the way on MY profile, the list would be so long your browser would crash ;-) See ya. |
|
| Jan-09-06 | | pawn52: In all honesty, if you were to compare your posts to acirce's, his would crash the whole computer, yours would only crash the browser. |
|
| Jan-09-06 | | ughaibu: It only goes back six months. |
|
| Jan-09-06 | | Chopin: Just wanted to stop by and visit <Sneaky>'s forum. |

|
Jan-09-06
 | | Sneaky: Sure but GIVE IT BACK. My pet peeve is people who pocket my lighters. |
|
| Jan-09-06 | | Swapmeet: Hey, is that a "no csmath" sign I see over there? |
|
Jan-09-06
 | | Sneaky: Heck no, everybody is invited. FOR NOW ... mauahahahahaha Hey, I wonder if these new forums will end up being an experiment designed to prove that "absolute power corrupts absolutely." I imagine all these tiny nation states sprouting up, each with it's own little tyrant. "I hereby banish you from the kingdom!" will be a commonly heard edict. |

 | | Sneaky: Here's an interesting tidbit.
<The World Health Organization conducted a study of Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS) and lung cancer in Europe. ... The study was conducted from twelve centers in seven European countries over a period of seven years. ... The study found no statistically significant risk existed for non-smokers who either lived or worked with smokers. ... The only statistically significant number was a DECREASE in the risk of lung cancer among the children of smokers.> http://www.davehitt.com/facts/who.h... |

 | | cu8sfan: I'm not addicted to smoking and I have never ever taking a puff of a cigarette but I like to smoke my pipe from time to time, once a month or so. During the smoking it's a lot of fun but I hate my breath and the feeling in my throat afterwards. |

Sneaky vs NN
This game shows how I best like to attack the Gruenfeld. Sac a pawn, don't castle (just play Kf1 or Kf2 if necessary), and come down on his k-side like a ton of bricks. My comments in <gold>. 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 d5 4. cxd5 Nxd5 5. e4 Nxc3 6. bxc3 Bg7 7. Nf3 O-O
8. Rb1 c5 9. Be2 Nc6

<This is the thematic pawn sac that I love to employ. When the Black king hasn't castled, this sacrifice is 100% sound. In this and similar position, I'm not so sure. I play it either way.> ...Bxc3+ 11. Bd2 Bxd2+ 12. Qxd2 Na5 13. Qh6 f6 <I think that's forced, otherwise Ng5 is curtains> 14. h4 b6 15. h5! g5 click for larger view16. Nxg5!? <When I played this I didn't see everything, but I couldn't find the refutation. I'm still not sure there is one.> fxg5 17. Qxg5+ Kh8 18. h6 click for larger view...Rg8?? 19. Qe5+ <Black resigns> 1-0 ♔ post-mortem ♔
Obviously Black committed suicide with ...Rg8?? and ...Rf7 was forced. Going back to the last diagrammed position, a critical variation might be 18...Rf7 19.Bh5 Qg8 20.Qxg8+ Kxg8 21.Bxf7+ Kxf7, but I'm not sure how to appraise that ending. Probably equal but very imbalanced and tricky. That's not the line I had prepared, I anticipated something like this: 18...Rf7 19.d6!? Qxd6 (exd6?? QxQ+) 20.Rd1 Qc7 click for larger viewAnd now 21.Qe5+! brings home the bacon. I know that's not all forced but hey, it's just blitz... |

 | | Sneaky: TOPACABANA
<Sung to the tune of Barry Manilow's "Copacabana"> His name was Vlesko, he was a showman ...
He would push his pawns right out, and make all the chess nerds shout He'd play Benoni, and do the Najdorf
And while he tried to be a star
Kramnik watched on from afar
In that San Luis room, seven GM's met their doom
The sacs and pins were flying,
But just who pinned who?
<chorus>
It was Topa... Topacabana...
The hottest Champ since J.R. from Havana.
Oh yes it's Topa... Topacabaaana...
Pawn storms a-crashin' is always the fashion
With Topalov... |

You have a nice set-up here. Very comfortable. Plenty of ashtrays.
<Swapmeet> I think "csmath" is at home, licking his wounds and doing his homework :)An idea for this forum's banner:
"Smokers of the world Unite".
Btw, like Your poem.
