TheAlchemist: The genius of Ding's play to me was how (except Nb5) he made moves solely on his own half of the board and in 25 moves he completely outplayed Gukesh.

TheAlchemist: Go Traxler :-) This time I actually defended it against a much higher rated player. Even better :-)

TheAlchemist: I have also lost my first team game at GK (sorry), but luckily got my revenge in the other game:

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.d4 exd4 5.O-O Nxe4 6.Re1 d5 7.Bxd5 Qxd5 8.Nc3 Qh5 9.Nxe4 Be6 10.Neg5 O-O-O 11.Nxe6 fxe6 12.Rxe6 Bd6 13.Bd2 Rhf8 14.h3 Qd5 15.Re1 Qf5 16.Qe2 Qxc2 17.Rac1 Qf5 18.Rxc6 (<I played the opening really poorly and black was taking over, so to do something I came up with this unsound sacrifice. Needless to say, I got my ass duly whupped.>) d3 19.Qe3 bxc6 20.Qxa7 Kd7 21.Qd4 Kc8 22.Qa4 Kb7 23.Rc1 Qb5 24.Qd1 c5 25.Rc3 Kc8 26.Rb3 Qc6 27.Rc3 Qe4 0-1

Game 2 was a bit different, luckily. It's funny how I feel I've been playing better with black lately (I still lose in 20 moves now and then :-)), perhaps it's psychological, you think you "have" to win with white and you end up overpressing. Anyway...

1.d4 f5 2.c4 Nf6 3.Nc3 e6 4.Nf3 Bb4 5.g3 O-O 6.Bg2 Ne4 7.Qd3 d5 8.O-O Bxc3 9.bxc3 Nc6 10.Nd2 Qe7 11.a4 Qf7 12.f3 Nxd2 13.Bxd2 Na5 14.cxd5 exd5 15.e4 Be6 16.e5 Nc4 17.Rfb1 b6 18.Qc2 f4 19.Qd1 Bf5 20.Rc1 fxg3 21.hxg3 Qg6 22.g4 Bd3 23.f4 Be4 24.f5 Rxf5 25.Bxe4 dxe4 0-1

May-13-10  arsen387: Hello <Alchemist>, nice win with black against psvchess. I especially liked the Q manoeuvre from e8 to f7, doubling on f file and waiting for B to come to d6 to take all the white squares under blacks' control. Maybe this game will inspire me to try Dutch once :) also 18.Qc2 was ugly I think, had you smth in mind against 18.f4?

TheAlchemist: <arsen> Hi! Thanks. 18.f4, which you suggest, is indeed better, I should point out I was only really playing for equality at that point, 18.Qc2 was the move that gave me a chance to try for more. I'm not sure what I would have played instead, c7-c6 was something I was going to play soon, but black can't really do much in that situation and neither can white. I don't know if it's best, but sooner or later I'd go for h7-h6 and g7-g5 (with Qe7 for support).
May-13-10  arsen387: <black can't really do much in that situation and neither can white> yes, you're right I guess. It just seemed to me that after f4 locking temporary the Kside whites will have some dangerous play on Q side, but after a closer look seems like they won't actually.

Also, a team player with such a team score shouldn't be sorry ;) Only one slip in 12 games doesn't count

May-19-10  Travis Bickle: Hey Professor that song by The Ink Spots reminded me of a song from the film The Shawshank Redemption. Sure enough I looked up the films soundtrack and The Ink Spots did this tune in that movie. ; P

Jul-22-10  Travis Bickle: Thanks Professor Uros for those Jimi Hendrix jams! Yes & I do agree in Red House (my favorite song by Jimi), he's got the word 'yonder' covered! ; P

Here are 2 great performances from Woodstock the 1st being an improvisation, the 2nd being The National Anthem psychedelicized! I got so angry when searching for this video which should be in The Libray of Congress and not owned by F%$#@&$ Sony music. How Ironic! Anyway the versions I found were either the whole song but just showing Jimi's face and not the amazing fingering on the frets or a shortened version, about 4 minutes instead of over 8 minutes! Anyway at least you can hear the audio and see some guitar work.
