Nov-24-15  Knight13: <TheAlchemist> Another reason for using taxes is that the country will need children whether women personally choose to have children or not. So everyone should chip in, not just companies.

TheAlchemist: <Knight13> Yes, of course. It is an investment into the future, if you want to call it that. Education is the next important step.

Now, how stimulating the "environment" is, is another question (i.e. bleak prospects for the future).

Most countries I referred to have this solved through social security, however, the problem in many countries is that the social security systems are unsustainable. Many propose solving it by just having more children (=taxpayers), which to me is ridiculous, as it seems to imply infinite growth. For example, Norway has this solved very intelligently, they put the surplus of their oil (a finite resource) income into a special fund (probably worth around 1 trillion $ by now or close). Now, only a few have such resources, but it could also have easily been squandered (to a lesser extent, see also the UAE). Of course, they are a relatively small country (in terms of population) which I think is an advantage.

The question is how to make it work in an "average" country with zero growth population. I could give you our example as a negative one, but in general a strong economy (preferably on the production side) must be the basis. But how sustainable can you really make it long-term?

Dec-14-15  Knight13: <TheAlchemist> GamerGate may have achieved its objectives, but it is still under attack. When will it end!?

TheAlchemist: Well, vigilance will always be required and it's still a convenient scapegoat, especially since it's always been misrepresented in the media (and just take a look at the wikipedia entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamer...). I'm not that knowledgeable about it, but industry insiders do know what it's really about, they've heard the message as you said in an above post and (according to some sources) many even quietly support its efforts. At the end of the day that's what matters, and even all the surrounding crap cannot obfuscate that.
Dec-15-15  Knight13: <TheAlchemist> So in other words, the rest is just noise.

Speaking of scapegoats, The Men's Rights Movement (MRM) and its Men's Rights Activists (MRAs) are attacked by feminists and SJWs for being misogynistic and a danger to women and all that crap as well (despite the lack of evidence, just like GG).

The real scapegoats are men, though. Men are blamed for everything. Women are portrayed as innocent victims who can do no wrong. It's always men's fault. Men = victimizers, women = victims.

TheAlchemist: <Knight13> Well, I am old-fashioned and actually still like to buy physical copies, but lately it's been harder and harder to get them and importing them from abroad is too expensive, so I relented in the last few years :-). Actually I wouldn't know about GOG if its client didn't come with the Witcher 3. New games on GOG are usually a bit cheaper (they don't use Steam's 1$ = 1€), but when they have sales the discounts aren't as big, so that (along with many Steam exclusives) would be the trade-off, I suppose. And I like their no-DRM policy, so you can actually download the installers and keep them (in the apocalyptical scenario it were to fail and close shop).
Dec-18-15  Knight13: <TheAlchemist> I just wait for them to go on sale if I have a game I want to buy (even if their regular price is $6.99). I don't care about DRM nor do I buy new games unless they're on sale for a lot cheaper, so Steam works just fine for me. But I can see the advantage to having both instead of just having one.

Jan-11-16  Knight13: <TheAlchemist> My university does have Social Justice. But never met one.
Jan-12-16  Knight13: <TheAlchemist> There are flyers on campus about LGBT with the word "Social Justice" written on it. It encourages bystanders to step in if they see abuse in other people's relationships, with a picture given where one lesbian is verbally abusing (more like insulting) another.

Besides LGBT SJWs, we also got Black Lives Matter students: "Students Protest Racism on Clifton Road, List Demands for Administration" http://emorywheel.com/students-prot... and this: "Feminist theorist to discuss Black Lives Matter movement" http://news.emory.edu/stories/2015/...

From Breitbart about Emory student BLM protestors: "25 Disturbing Demands from ‘Black Lives Matter’-Inspired Student Groups" http://www.breitbart.com/big-govern...

So I was wrong before when I told you, "I doubt it."

Ironically, the more prestigious the university, the more SJW/feminist they tend to be.

TheAlchemist: <Knight13> Sometimes I think it would be funny if it weren't sad. Don't they have exams to study for, assignments etc.? I admit I had quite a lot of time to spare during college, the system allowed it, but I thought it was a bit different in the US. Probably depends on your major.

I know I would never bother with university politics (and I haven't) , it just seems like a complete waste of time. Although some people here who were very active at the time ended up joining major parties as candidates even, so some certainly profited (though I'm not sure how high they've risen). Is it similar there?

When it comes to students a lot of the blame should lay with professors of social "sciences", I think they're the ones pushing this agenda the most and indoctrinating their (sadly, willing) students. Probably to justify their positions (like the "feminist theorist" above - what else could she do?). I remember seeing a video about Dalhousie some time ago and it was mindboggling how some of the panel discussing the "incident" were actual professors, no critical thinking whatsoever.

What really pisses me off is that universities should be the main bastions of free speech, where ideas would be debated based on their merit. Naive, right?

Now, in theory I support a lot of the same goals (maybe not to the same extent, but I think you understand what I mean), but the way they go about it, the constant redefinitions, the sheer cognitive dissonance they display and the mental gymnastics they have to do to justify some of their actions is really astounding. They're all for diversity, just not for diversity of opinions.

Jan-14-16  Knight13: <TheAlchemist> They do have exams to study for, projects to do, etc. but the workload depends on your major, which college you go to, and the professors. Also, sometimes they think they could use the protest as a reason to skip an exam, and then demand the professor(s) be fired if they gave the exam on the scheduled day anyway and give them a zero b/c they didn't show up.

<Is it similar there?> This I do not know.

<When it comes to students a lot of the blame should lay with professors of social "sciences", I think they're the ones pushing this agenda the most and indoctrinating their (sadly, willing) students. Probably to justify their positions (like the "feminist theorist" above - what else could she do?).> Yes, I am also aware the professors do indoctrinate their students. The professors at Emory, for example, are fairly progressive and left-leaning. Most college professors are left-leaning. I think the less "useful" and more subjective the major (like Gender Studies), the more heavily they try to indoctrinate, but I am not entirely sure. I, thankfully, never had a problem with social science and humanities professors trying to screw me over for voicing opinions contradictory to theirs, but most of the time I was asking questions to understand what they are trying to teach instead of disagreeing with them.

<What really pisses me off is that universities should be the main bastions of free speech, where ideas would be debated based on their merit. Naive, right?> I agree completely.

You can never satisfy these people. They will never be happy no matter how many times you acquiesce to their demands. They will always come up with new problems to complain about. Most of the SJWs are from upper-middle class/upper class, who talk about oppression while walking around with their Apple laptops and iPads. They go to debates with their thousand-dollar laptops right in front of them while talking about how oppressed they are. Like you said, it would be funny if it weren't so sad.

Feb-02-16  Knight13: <TheAlchemist> I'm fairly convinced that you can't defeat SJWs and feminists on a level playing field--they refuse to play unless the platform is biased in their favor. Which means using logic, reason, and facts will not be enough. So the only practical way to beat them is to force them to self-destruct. They are already starting to walk down that path, so what we need to do is to keep "motivating" them to show their true colors; they will start to eat each other as their advocated policies inevitably start being used against them and key people realize that catering to SJWs and feminists don't get them any good long-term results. Also, since they like to elbow their way into everything and demand changes, they'll just keep making more and more enemies and eventually overextend themselves.

TheAlchemist: <Knight13> I think you may be right there, it's probably the pragmatic thing to do. Although I wonder how long that might take. Maybe not all media there caters to the SJWs, but here (I mean Slovenia, but it's probably similar in many other European countries) the ones that do not are more on the fringes. And the overwhelming media support and no-platforming of the opposition is what's worrying.

Judging by online comments many people here have seen through the media's agenda when it comes to the uncritical reaction to the refugee crisis, so now, when we have more "equality" initiatives by social studies groups hopefully the same thing will happen, should they be as absurd and full of caveats. At least I hope it won't degenerate into the kind of debates we see in some other places like the UK. However, here we come back to what you were saying, it's doubtful whether the playing field will be level.

TheAlchemist: I was bored and decided to go through some books that were collecting dust. Found a few interesting diagrams.

For the following, I unfortunately couldn't find the whole game, nor any other sources, so the names, location or date could be wrong. Anyway:
