TheAlchemist: Thank you, you too!

Dec-09-24 Ding Liren vs D Gukesh, 2024 (replies)

TheAlchemist: The genius of Ding's play to me was how (except Nb5) he made moves solely on his own half of the board and in 25 moves he completely outplayed Gukesh.

   Oct-28-23 D Lazavik vs Wojtaszek, 2023 (replies)

TheAlchemist: White played a seemingly clever sacrifice, but the refutation on move 25 was simply stunning

TheAlchemist: <goodevans: Will we have another Milan-based pun tomorrow when its two big football teams face each other in the Champions League Semi-Final? https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsl... It's a huge reach, but you could call it even timelier. Unfortunately Slovaks call it ...

Apr-30-23 Nepomniachtchi vs Ding Liren, 2023 (replies)

TheAlchemist: Amazing, what a finish, what a match. Congratulations, Ding!

   Nov-08-22 D Citra vs R Vaishali, 2016 (replies)

TheAlchemist: Great pun!

   Aug-08-22 European Team Championship (2001)

TheAlchemist: I'd have to dig out contemporary magazines to be sure, but I think it said Black simply left the playing hall and never returned, leaving everyone puzzled (teammates included).

   Jun-26-22 David Moody (replies)

TheAlchemist: Terrible news. Rest in peace, PB.

   Oct-17-21 Keres vs A Sakovski, 1936 (replies)

TheAlchemist: I also forgot to add that both of those are masculine forms, the feminine one would be "šahistka". I was a bit too fast with the reply.

cu8sfan: O well, for Switzerland, it was nice while it lasted. Still beating Canada and the Czechs is great.
Feb-22-06  square dance: <so Canada has been in this situation many times before. Why is this time any different?> this time canada is the defending olympic champions.

of course by now we know that russia won! alexander the great scored the game winner (about?) 90 seconds into the 3rd period.

Feb-22-06  babakova: The only result today that was unexpected was Czech Republic--Slovakia 3-1
Feb-23-06  larrewl: Unlike my Japanese mother, I haven't watched much figure skating. Like her, I want Sasha Cohen and Shizuka Arakawa to win Gold and Silver. The sentimental favorite Slutskaya will probably do better than Arakawa and may win the Gold. A Japanese or American is likely to win the Bronze as Fumie Suguri and Kimmie Meissner are currently 4th and 5th. I'll probably watch them later today. All of them have good figures. (I know it's a bad joke but I couldn't resist the temptation.)

cu8sfan: And for those that are still confused about the whole Swedenitzerland-thing: Compare http://www.nbcolympics.com/countrie... and http://www.nbcolympics.com/countrie.... Got that, <WannaBe>?! (-:
Feb-24-06  percyblakeney: Speaking of amazing skiing disasters from the Olympics: Slovenia's Majdic was in the leading group in today's race until she was taken out by a (not intentional) rugby tackle from an assistant of another team...

cu8sfan: <TheAlchemist> By the way, what's it like studying pharmacy in your country? In Switzerland it's the only subject at the institute of technology that's overcrowded with women, and good looking ones at that. We physics geeks never dared to get close to them but we all secretly admired the handful of guys that got to study with them. But I'm getting off topic... (-:

TheAlchemist: It's OK. Since I'm not the most hard-working, I always get overwhelmed with work at the end. Here too, the women are in majority, I'd say about 60:40 in percentage.
Feb-24-06  babakova: Sweden in the olympic final in the hockey tournament for the first time in 12 years! I hope Finland beats Russia so we will get a classic matchup on sunday.

TheAlchemist: A mini incident happened last night. Swiss Martin Annen who won bronze medal yesterday in the 4-man Bob, put his clothes on a rope (or something similar, I don't know exactly what) outside his room so they would dry. Unfortunately for him, that set off the alarm and soon, the police were on the scene of the "crime". How it ended I don't know, but they probably let him go just with a warning :-)

tpstar: <TheAlchemist> Thanks for all your Olympic information. You may have missed Shani Davis who won a Gold and a Silver in Speed Skating. Or maybe you left him out because he's difficult. =)

TheAlchemist: Sorry, I did miss him. I hope I haven't left out any other major stars.

Today and 25 years ago, when I was a chemistry student. I wonder what could be the reason for that...
Mar-01-06  notsodeepthought: <meloncio: It's exactly the same in Spain! Today and 25 years ago, when I was a chemistry student.> Did you form any significant "bond" with any of the female students? (Sorry, couldn't resist).
Mar-01-06  Cogano: Hello again <meloncio>, welcome back, & I sincerely hope this finds you well. As for why there are more women in those programs, in my opinion, it could be because of their sense of compassion & urge to end others' suffering. But I may be exaggerating or completely wrong in some way or another. Anyway, glad to have you back, take very good care & have a great day. Cheers mate! :)
Mar-02-06  Jafar219: <TheAlchemist> can you give me some information about pyrasetam+sinnarizin combination? I tried to find something is Internet but it is impossible.
