Dec-09-24 Ding Liren vs D Gukesh, 2024 (replies)

TheAlchemist: The genius of Ding's play to me was how (except Nb5) he made moves solely on his own half of the board and in 25 moves he completely outplayed Gukesh.

Jun-17-06  blingice: I like Dane Cook much more.

Some of Dane Cook's best quotes:

"Watermelon, by the way, is the only good kind of Jolly Rancher. DO NOT say that Green Apple is. If you say Green Apple is the best flavor of Jolly Rancher, I will stab you in the jaw. If you really like Green Apple, you can talk to me in the lobby. I'll be the one stabbing jaws."

"Do you ever see someone with a Superman shirt on, and you just want to shoot him in the chest, and when he starts to bleed, say 'I guess not. Don't wear the shirt. You should wear a shirt that says 'I bleed when you shoot me in the chestplate' and I will not shoot you in the chestplate.'"

"Everyone wants to leave a legacy. I was thinking about this the other day, when I realized, you can do it on a daily basis. For example, the other day, I saw a kid eating an ice cream cone. I ran up to him and smashed it into his face. Then I pointed at him and said 'You remember me FOREVER!' You know when he's 50, he'll be telling his grandkids 'One day, a man ran up to me. I DID NOT KNOW this man. He smashed my treat into my eyes. He then said "You f***ing remember me FOREVER!' But I did NOT say 'F***ing'. He's a lying old man who deserves to have ice cream smashed in his face."

TheAlchemist: Thanks, <cc> & <blingice>, I'll check them out some day!

I don't know that many comedians, I did see Comedy Central's 100 best standups, but they presented each one very briefly. I have a few videos about some comedians, but for now I can't really comment on who's good or not.

Jun-17-06  Chess Classics: <I like Dane Cook much more.> I like Dane too ("Your move holy man"), but I also preffer Jim Gafhaggan ("Do little catholics have aspirations to be pope some day? Do they run around in their yards saying "Here comes the Pope! The best pope ever!")

Regards,
CC

Jun-18-06  EmperorAtahualpa: "My wife always complains about three things: That I always come home late, and that I can't even count to ten!"

:) That's from a Dutch comedian named Herman Finkers.

Jun-19-06  chessmoron: Dane Cook kissing Charlize Theron's a-- on Tonight Show with Jay Leno was HOT! HOT! HOT!
Jun-19-06  dakgootje: < Herman Finkers> one of the best dutch comedians at the moment imho
Jun-28-06  McCool: Hey <TheAlchemist> do you have this guy? Basel Bar

TheAlchemist: <McCool> Where? I put your game in one of my punny game collections, you can suggest the appropriate pun yourself.
Jun-29-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <TheAlchemist> Have you ever heard of Valtar Birsa? Apparently's he's a 19-year old talent playing for Gorica in Slovenia and PSV wanted to buy him. But he turned down the offer and said playing for Gorica would be better for his development, because at PSV he would have to play among the reserves.

I read all this here: http://www.voetbalzone.nl/doc.asp?u... (Dutch)

TheAlchemist: <EA> Yes, of course, he's our biggest talent right now. A very dynamic forward, is left-footed (? :-)) and, for our standards, is very good in long range shots, dribbling and passing too. Maybe he could have signed for PSV, if they would send him on loan, where he could play frequently in the first team.

Only, his name is actually Valter (the equivalent of Walter).

Jul-01-06  monad: <TheAlchemist: Beliavsky versus Timman>

The bit you posted on the above game page about the Sax versus Seirawan game is so helpful.

Could you please copy and paste it into the appropriate page as well?

Not that I'm too lazy to it for you but it deserves your moniker. ;-)

Jul-06-06  meloncio: Hi Alquimista. I'm sure you know Pedrag Mijatovic is the new general manager for Real Madrid. What's your opinion about him at this job? Yes, I know he's Montenegrian (sp?) and you're Slovenian, but anyway...
Jul-06-06  notsodeepthought: <meloncio: What's your opinion about him at this job? Yes, I know he's Montenegrian (sp?) and you're Slovenian, but anyway...> That's right, the different between the two can't be any greater than that between, say, Spanish and Portuguese people... (*ducks for cover*)
Jul-07-06  meloncio: <nsdp><...the different between the two can't be any greater than that between, say, Spanish and Portuguese people...> Well, in fact we were joined from 1580 to 1640, under Spanish kings of course. We call it The Great Union Years, and they call it The Sixty Years Nightmare. :-))

TheAlchemist: <meloncio> Sorry for answering late, I think he was a great player, there's a stereotype about Montenegrins that they're lazy :-). I don't know about his directorial skills, I think this is his first job. But since he was chosen by Real, I think he should be quite bad :-).

<That's right, the different between the two can't be any greater than that between, say, Spanish and Portuguese people... (*ducks for cover*)>

No need to duck, we aren't that different as far as language is concerned. As far as, say, politics... that's another story :-)

Jul-07-06  hitman84: <Ennio Morricone>

<Zucchero sings in English too, here are his albums on Amazon, check them out:>Thanks.I'll d'load some songs later tonight.

I guess Italians are the main contributors to European Classical Music.

Are you inclined towards classical or modern music(the use of electronic instruments)

My physics teacher was a huge fan of classical music and he used to say..

"Music thesedays is nothing but organised noise" :)
