Jan-18-06  sitzkrieg: I hope u wont be working on it all that time;)
Jan-18-06  RonB52734: Ok, good stuff, team. We have plenty of time to crunch this now. In the meantime, here's the rotated view. I hope you don't mind the space this costs; it is very useful to me.

One more thing I would point out. Their last two moves have been ones that we have foreseen, but barely. It is entirely possible that this is because we have successfully kept ourselves safe against the top 2 or 3 scariest moves and they've had to go for 3rd or 4th best. But let it be a reminder to stop and look at 1 or 2 more candidate moves before we commit.

Jan-18-06  Robin01: Looks like we got three moves to analyze: Either 13…Bh5 or 13…Bxf3 or 13…Bf5. Obviously, I do not believe putting the bishop back on d7 is good. And, of course, putting the bishop on e6 just loses it.
Jan-18-06  NakoSonorense: Few moves to analyze... I like that! The whole point of moving our bishop to g4 was to move it from d7 and to attack the knight. So, I suggest to keep it that way by <14...Bh5!!> If they decide 15.g4 we move 15...Bg3 or Bf2.
Jan-18-06  RonB52734: <Robin01> or... (and these may be lousy, but they have to be analyzed)

Bxh3 or leaving the B alone and moving something else.

Jan-18-06  sitzkrieg: Leaving the bishop alone doesn t work. F.e. h5 and hxg4 hxg4 then queen gives a check and takes pawn.
Jan-18-06  RonB52734: <sitzkrieg> Yeah, I was trying to spin some fantasy sacs there, always trying to keep my eye open for them. But here I don't think our firepower is developed enough yet to have delusions of being Mikhail Tal.
Jan-18-06  sitzkrieg: lol :)
Jan-18-06  RonB52734: If 13...Bh5 14. g4 Bf7, driving the Q away and she has limited choices.

(a) 15. Qb5 Qd7

(b) 15. Qd3 Bg6

(c) 15. Qd2 or Qd1 looks to me like it gains us a tempo and we could look at ...Qd7, ...h6 or ...Be7, or even ...Be6 or ...Bc4

Jan-18-06  RonB52734: After 13...Bh5, white may play an immediate 14.Ng5, after which 14...Qd7. And if 15. Qe6+ (?) then happily trade Qs and drive the N away. And if 15. Ne6 then 15...Bf7 pinning and (I think) winning the N.

I'm pretty well convinced that ...Bh5 and ...Qd7 are in our future. With our three pawn islands to our opponents' two, and with us being only 1 pawn up, I think it's premature to seek piece trades. And ...Bf5 as an alternative to the retreat ...Bh5 seems to put our B out of position for any of its likely uses.

Now, remembering my earlier comment, we need to look at less frightening candidate moves White might make.

Jan-18-06  sitzkrieg: I agree with ur analysis. Queen trade would be very good.
Jan-18-06  DrDum: <Wannabe> Checked out <Jeremy Silman> picture. He and Hal9000 separated at birth?

Jan-18-06  sitzkrieg: woohoo u are still alive. Didnt see you some time.

WannaBe: <DrDum> LMFAO! Never thought of that!
Jan-18-06  RonB52734: I'm looking at ways that white's pawn moves have changed our earlier analysis of how to deal with particular patterns.

13...Bh5 14.g4 Bf7 15.Qd3 Bg6 16.Ne4 (or Nb5) 16...Qd7 17.Rd1 Rd8

or

13...Bh5 14.g4 Bf7 15.Qd3 Bg6 16.Ne4 Bxe4 17.Qxe4

Jan-18-06  sitzkrieg: g4 cant be good. I dont think they will play it and if they do I am sure it wont give us any trouble. We dont need to worry about that imo.
Jan-18-06  NakoSonorense: So, how's the voting going?

I chose 13...Bh5

Jan-18-06  Robin01: I choose 13...Bh5.
Jan-18-06  Robin01: We need to preserve the bishop pair for now.
Jan-18-06  Robin01: I also like the idea have having the option to bring the bishop back to f7 and hit the queen, possibly with tempo.
Jan-18-06  Robin01: My guess is that white is either going to play 14.Be4 or 14.Rd1. I have been looking that those lines.
Jan-18-06  Robin01: I meant "14.Be3" and not "14.Be4".
Jan-18-06  RonB52734: I choose Bh5 also. I'll have to look back and see what <sitzkrieg> and <WannaBe> have said.

Good suggestions for White moves, Robin. Let me look at that while the laundry is running.......

Jan-18-06  RonB52734: I've looked back and I see that <WannaBe> and <sitzkrieg> have made favorable comments about Bh5. Once again, I'm going to post our move in the morning, but there's going to have to be an uprising, I think, to indicate that something other than Bh5 is the move.

WannaBe: I have no problem with Bh5, I only worry about Ng5, do we follow with Qd7? I have/saw nothing else that is direct attack by white.

We can also play Nb4 or Ne7, but I think it's a waste of time.
