WannaBe: Just for fun, here what I did. Took the current World vs. Nickel position, and let Shredder ran with it on Infinite Analysis (5 minutes minumum, 10 minutes max)

With a hyper-threading and 1G of RAM, I think that's plenty long enough.

Take the best line (line number 1), and take the 4-ply move, enter that into the PGN.

Reload the PGN into Shredder's engine, repeat procedure... The game is drawn.

Jan-05-07  Karpova: This continuation has been analysed for weeks.
Why not 43...Rb8 instead of 44...b4 which just loses a tempo as you can see. 43...Rb8 44.Rxb5 and now - if 44...h4 45.Kg1-f2-f3 or even g3 and after 44...Kf6 45.Kg3 The point is that the white king gets out as early as possible so that the black king can't intrude
Jan-05-07  themadhair: Not sure 45.Rb6 is optimal but it should be good enough to win. After 45...Kh6 then 46.h4! is the way to go forcing black to waste king moves and allow white to penetrate viz 46. h4 Kg7 47. Kg3 Kf7
48. Kf4 Ke6 49. g4 hxg4 <49... Kd7 50. gxh5 gxh5 51. Kg5 And wins> 50. Kxg4 Kd7 51. Kg5 Ke6 52. Kh6 Kf5 53. Kg7 Ke4 54. Rb4 Kd3 55. Kxg6 Kc3 56. Rb1 Kxd4 57. h5 And wins.

Jan-05-07  Karpova: Oh, and have a look at section G User: RandomVisitor <spudhead> showed that white can simply transpose back into the <main> ending if GMAN tries to distract us with 43...b4 so there's no special analysis needed.

  WannaBe: <chesstoplay>

Well the northwest side of chicago
Is the baddest part of town
And if you go down there
You better just beware
Of a man named <chesstoplay>

Now <chesstoplay> more than trouble, You see he sees about 20-plies deep
All the downtown ladies call him treetop lover
All the mens just call him sir

And its bad, bad <chesstoplay>, The baddest man in the whole damn town
Badder than old Fischer
And meaner than Krmanik

-- Apologies to Jim Croce

WannaBe: <southpawjinx> & <whiskeyrebel> I have signed up for National Open, not yet decided if I want to play Susan again in the Simul.

So, I will definitely be in Las Vegas, in June.

<whiskeyrebel> Are you participating again? I am currently seeking roommate to split a room and cut down on some costs. The super-cheap entry fee ends Jan. 15th, http://www.lvchessfestival.com

Jan-08-07  myschkin: For a proper preparation have a look at your posted game ^^ Hope it helps.
Jan-08-07  Silverstrike: Hey Wannabe, we played a correspondence a while back, would you be interested in playing another? Im sorry to say that it would have to be on your forum as I'm not a premium member. If you don't want to, that's utterly fine. :)

WannaBe: <Silverstrike> I am always up for a corresp. game. But instead of here, do you have account(s) on www.GameKnot.com (WannaBeCG) or www.schemingmind.com (WannaBe)or www.queenalice.com (WannaBe)?

I think it's better that we do it there. But if you don't have account(s) or do not wish to open account(s); all three mentioned sites are free, then here is fine, I'll take the black pieces. =)

Jan-08-07  Silverstrike: Playing here seems to be the best option. Are you sure about black? You had it the last time you played.
