WannaBe: In case I forgot, congrats to them Lady Bruins. =)) U. Mich (69-63) won, but the last spread I saw was -6.5, so if you took UConn w/ spread, you got very lucky, if you bet on them U. Mich, I feel bad; the O/U was 148.5

WannaBe: <CIO> LOL. I remember those mems... <chancho> North by Norwest, totally agree, the audiences know that the plane scene was filmed earlier and played on a screen behind. It was still drama. Same thing with the Mt. Rushmore chase scene.

WannaBe: ¡Olé! ¡Olé! this is what I see for "¡Olé! ¡Olé!" (game of the day Mar-13-2026) I also know this issue have been around for a while, and it's not that important, in IT term, it is a level 'C', cosmetic fix. But I just wish to report it again. Can CG.com unify this ...

WannaBe: <FSR> March 11 is his birthday, and usually PoD is chosen from the birth date of the player. So unless CG.com decides to change the algorithm on how PoD is decided. We will randomly get "undesired" player(s).

I'll probably spend some time looking for my next move. I do not anticipate any more moves from me today. =)

WannaBe: It's time for another <WannaBe>'s book review!!

But first, here is a quiz...

How do you connect Sir John Franklin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_F...) to Star-Spangled Banner (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United...) to the desk that is used by the U.S. presidents (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resolu...)?

To find out, read "Resolute" by Martin Sandler http://www.amazon.com/Resolute-Nort...

This book, gets two big thumbs up from me, one of the best historical arctic exploring book I've read.

Oh yeah, Chucky Dickens, Chucky Darwin, U.S. Civil War, and Her Royal Majesty Queen makes Cameo appearance in the book.

Very, very highly recommended!

Jan-09-07  whiskeyrebel: WannaBe, funny you should mention the National open; I've just been trying to decide what to do about it. My wife's not going this time around..so I've been trying to figure out how to make the room affordable. Email me at: whskyreb@centurytel.net. Also, do you have a link still to the photo you took of me last year? I forget how it looked..I need a pic of me at the board for the back of a new edition of one of my books and it may work. Lemme know..
Jan-09-07  FICSwoodpusher: <WannaBe> have you discontinued the "first Saturday of the month" tournament on FICS?

WannaBe: <whiskeyrebel> Cool, I'll send you an-email. Picture, it's on another computer, I'll send it as an attachment? Is that okay? But that will have to be much later in the day, as the other computer is at home.

<FICSWoodpusher> Yes, I have discontinued it, so far you're the only one who has shown interest in resurrecting it.

WannaBe: <Silverstrike> Need another day. Will not be making my move today.
Jan-09-07  Silverstrike: No worries, whenever is good for you.
Jan-09-07  whiskeyrebel: yeah, an attachment is fine..
Jan-09-07  chesstoplay: <WannaBe> I talked to Tim Just (author/editor USCF Rules of Chess, 5th edition) a few minutes ago and invited him to join me for a run down to the Chicago Open at the end of May.

I told him about your chessgames.com get-together.

We'd probably come down for just a day trip. Meet all the chessgames.com crew and take a look at what the chess store at the tournament looks like and head home that night.

  WannaBe: Who?! http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/s...
Jan-11-07  chesstoplay: Hi WannaBe,

I don't know how I'll follow the game.

I see Yury at least once or twice a week right now, so I guess that I can "look over his shoulder" as he plays.

Several of my students are also now on chessgames.com, so they can also update me.

Yury has been on chessgames.com via his laptaop as <chesstoplay> once with me... I think he placed my vote for 39. b5 for me.

The point is, with his incredible memory, he knows my chesstoplay screen name and password.

I cannot compromise the World Team's game in any way, so once I mentioned this to chessgames.com they agreed with me that I should stay out of the mix this game.

I really care about chess first and my interest here second, so...

I'll find a way to keep up and also out of the way!
