| Feb-01-07 | | Trudodyr: <Wannabe>yes I already uninstalled and reinstalled it.(Lets keep my identity secret):) |
|
| Feb-01-07 | | Trudodyr: <wannabe>Yes I already repaired it too. |
|
Feb-01-07
 | | WannaBe: <Trudodyr> Mmmmm... I have no problem accessing it. I can see that GM Short is on right now. Have you tried the Repair option in the installation program? |
|
| Feb-01-07 | | Trudodyr: <wannabe>yes i have. I haven't been on playchess in 4 days and its starting to get to me... |
|
| Feb-01-07 | | Trudodyr: <wannabe>I tried again and now the only problem is that it terminates after login |
|
Feb-01-07
 | | WannaBe: <Trudodyr> Okay, it worked 5 days ago... Have you done anything new addition (software/hardware) to your computer? Did your computer suffer any shutdown/crashes?
I'm trying to pinpoint what can cause this.
Did you accidentally delete a file that's suppose to be there? In my PlayChess folder, I see 15 objects, 3 folders, 7 dlls, 2 exes and a cbw. Check your c:\program files\chessbase\playchess folder. |
|
| Feb-01-07 | | Trudodyr: <wannabe>
1.A Kodak program has been added, but nothing has been deleted
2.No
3.I checked and its all there. |
|
| Feb-01-07 | | Trudodyr: btw,I appreciate the help.Thanks |
|
Feb-01-07
 | | WannaBe: <Trudodyr> Okay, that LobbyManager error message string, I found it, it's in the .exe file of playchess.exe Next theory that I have. You may have picked up a virus that attaches itself to .exe files. Just a theory... The size of my playches.exe file is 6,103,404 bytes. How big is your file? (I think Playchess is only for windows, so I don't think you're on a Mac.) |
|
| Feb-01-07 | | Trudodyr: <wannabe>here's more info:
1.yes it worked 5 days ago
2.When i login it seems to slow down as its starting to login-then it flashes "illegal operation" then "Runtime error!" then last but not least it runs "abnormal program termination".
I ran this by the chessbase folks and they suggested a reinstall, but ignored that I told them i already did... |
|
| Feb-01-07 | | Trudodyr: <wannabe>Mine is same size,only slightly smaller at 6,103,040 bytes.
I scanned the application with Norton antivirus 2002 and it detected nothing. |
|
Feb-01-07
 | | WannaBe: <Trudodyr> Have you tried to uninstall that Kodak program? And see if Playchess will return to normal? It's *highly* unlikely that two program will intefere with each other, windows operating system is suppose to take care of that. It is also *highly* unlikely if not improbable, that Kodak program would over-write a portion of your PlayChess.exe file. The fact that it slow down, is kinda pointing at a virus/worm/what nots. |
|
| Feb-01-07 | | Trudodyr: <Wannabe>No I am not on a mac.
I just scanned it again and it found nothing. |
|
Feb-01-07
 | | WannaBe: If your file is smaller, something is wrong...
Hang on... Let me see/check something. |
|
| Feb-01-07 | | Trudodyr: <wannabe>Can't do away with the kodak program, but I don't think thats the problem. Playchess was working fine even after kodak was installed.
If its a worm,what do i do? |
|
| Feb-01-07 | | Trudodyr: <wannabe>the kodak program is Kodak easyshare. |
|
| Feb-01-07 | | Trudodyr: <wannabe>Last bit of info:the last error message says "Microsoft C++ visual runtime library error" then program terminates. |
|
Feb-01-07
 | | WannaBe: Nevermind the file size, I made a typo... Sorry.
I've just uninstalled it, and re-installed it on my side, and had no problem. Hang on again. |
|
Feb-01-07
 | | WannaBe: <Trudodyr> Visual runtime error, is usually .dll file, <YouRang> may know more about it and correct me if I'm wrong. Okay, let's try this, if it's run-time, did it give you a code? Like 0x00(something-something) ?? And let's compare the .dll files
Chess32.dll 73,728
ChessRes.dll 638,976
Device32.dll 24,576
FrameRex.dll 4,841,472
SView2.dll 688,128
TBAccess.dll 630,784
Textures.dll 1,675,264
WorldEx.cbw 1,244,016 |
|
| Feb-01-07 | | Trudodyr: <Wannabe>here's a complete play-by-play.
1.click on playchess.it opens up and click login
2.it starts to connect then seems to stop.
3.first error message:"create lobbymanager exception"
4.It explains the violation.type "access violation"
address"0068AF78"
5.It flashes the terminate message |
|
| Feb-01-07 | | Trudodyr: <wannabe>I match those files completely.
Also,do you have these files too?
-IUPgrade.exe
-Eco.cod (a COD file) |
|
| Feb-01-07 | | Trudodyr: <Wannabe>the error code is 0068AF78. |
|
Feb-01-07
 | | WannaBe: <Trudodyr> Yes, I have those 2. IUPgrade.exe 180,224
Eco.cod 131,172
This will be my last post of the day, need to get some sleep, and will try to pick this up tomorrow, if it's not resolved. <YouRang> If you are free, can you read through the last posts and see if you can spot anything? (Or anyone else for that matter. =) |
|
| Feb-01-07 | | Trudodyr: <wannabe>Ok I will contact <yourang>thanks for your time. |
|
| Feb-01-07 | | twinlark: <Unless you bought the Mac version, then I dunno how to help you. But do try their support first.> No worries. I bought the Chessbase version and installed it off their disc. I'll get in contact with support direct. |
