Jan-20-06  RonB52734: <Robin01> <If white plays 15.Ne6 then we play 15...Bf7. Then white has to play 16.Nxf8, then we play 16...Rxf8.> I agree.
Jan-20-06  Robin01: But there are other moves white could make, such as 15.Be3 or 15.Bd2. Maybe 15.Nge4 or 15.Nce4. Maybe 15.f4. Or others perhaps. We will have to look at these.
Jan-20-06  Robin01: Although since it is their move, we could probably wait until they move since we have a full day to look at it after they move.
Jan-20-06  Robin01: I'm drifting off ...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Jan-20-06  NakoSonorense: <Qd7> looks good to me. sorry i cant provide any lines right now... im so sleepy, zzzzz. sea yuo giys tomrorowz
Jan-20-06  NakoSonorense: that's gotta be the worst excuse ever. Hey! i thought we were goign to make our move til tomorrow. what happene?
Jan-20-06  NakoSonorense: My spelling is not at its best right now... Sorry for that.
Jan-20-06  sitzkrieg: lol. U sure u shouldnt be at the beer page?
Jan-20-06  sitzkrieg: They played f4. h6 seems good, tho strictly their is no need to drive away their mean looking knight.

p.s. Do u guys think they remember we have moved our king? or shall we try to get away with castling long:)

Jan-20-06  Robin01: Somehow I think they would remember we moved our king.
Jan-20-06  Robin01: Chasing the knight off with 15...h6 looks good. We might be able to follow it up with 16...Bf7 and then chase the queen next. I will not be able to fully analyze this position until this evening.
Jan-20-06  RonB52734: So... they played f4, which is entirely consistent with my theory from last night.

Some general ideas before a specific line.

We do not want to take the pawn, ...exf4, because it simply allows them to develop Bxf4. We cannot push e4. We don't mind if they push f5, because eventually gxf6 looks pretty good. And if they take fxe5, I think we need to re-take with the pawn. Now, accepting that we don't make a pawn move right now, we have two main options that I can see.

(a) 15...Bf7 16.Nxf7 Qxf7 17.Qxf7+ Kxf7 18.fxe5+ and we've lost a pawn. Thus, 15...Bf7 is bad. We have to drive that Knight away first.

(b) 15...h6 16.Nge4 Bf7 17.Qd3. Now here, 17...Bg6 loses to 18.f5 Bxf5 19.Rxf5?! Qxf5 20.Nxd6+! Bxd6 21.Qxf5. So, after driving the Q back with 16...Bf7 I like 17...Rd8. The main thing to watch here is if they do push the f pawn, an eventual 19...gxf6 20.Nxf6+ is a horrible fork that loses for us. So if 18.f5, we probably want Be7 or Qe7.

In any event, I vote for 15...h6

Jan-20-06  RonB52734: <sitzkrieg> and <Robin01> great minds...
Jan-20-06  RonB52734: By the way, they could well play g4 next and have some interesting pawn action on the kingside, but I think we can meet that. But even without g4, their castled King doesn't look much better than our central one at the moment!
Jan-20-06  sitzkrieg: Ron I agree with all of ur analysis and thoughts. never hit on f4. If they play g4 i think we ll be ok 2. I also like Robins idea of h6 and then Bf7. I think their attack is coming to an end.
Jan-20-06  RonB52734: We must remember that we do need to make a move today. Usually we have moved by now, but our little psychological trick last night reversed the order. It's clear to me our move is h6. But let's hold off until evening, even late evening.

WannaBe: Anyone want to swap queen? What if we play 15...Rd8.

could this follow: 16 fxe5 dxe5 17. Qxd7 Rxd7.

Of course, we can also play just let Kxd7 and activate another piece.

Looking on it, I have no problem with our Q-side position, h6 is fine with me.

Jan-20-06  sitzkrieg: Id like to trade queens but I am afraid they wont cooperate.
Jan-20-06  Robin01: I thought the rule was 24 hours to make a move after the opponent's move. I mean, they could wait until late in the day to make a move, and then we would hardly have any time. So I understood the 1 day rule to mean after your opponent had made a move. Maybe we should clarify this.
Jan-20-06  sitzkrieg: I dont think anyone is really gonna make trouble if one is too late anyway.

WannaBe: <RonB52734> have always given them the courtesy of posting move early EST. So I see no reason for them to not recipricate it.

If they post late, we'll 'stall' by offering a draw and waiting for their reply while planning our move. =)

Jan-20-06  sitzkrieg: It is against regulations to offer a draw before you move:)

WannaBe: <sitzkrieg> Crap, there goes my 'stalling' idea. =(
Jan-20-06  me to play: < Robin01: I thought the rule was 24 hours to make a move after the opponent's move. I mean, they could wait until late in the day to make a move, and then we would hardly have any time. So I understood the 1 day rule to mean after your opponent had made a move. Maybe we should clarify this.> The requirement is a minimum of 1 move per day per team...if a team waits until the "eleventh hour" to post a move, then I would not expect the other team to have to rush out a reply to meet that requirement. This is a fun game and I wouldn't expect those kind of tactics. If it would occur the team would have a new 24 hrs to post the move. :)
Jan-20-06  me to play: In any case your team still has over ten hours left to reply today. :)
