 | | WannaBe: Now, to do it from CG.com's game...
On the game page, select 'view' link, (it's right under the board) you will now see the PGN of the game. You can follow the above directions, OR right click anywhere within your web-browser, then click on 'select all' (now, the whole page should be blue high-lighted) then go to your menu bar, and Edit->Copy. Launch your Deep Fritz, (Or, it can be launched already) then select Edit->Paste->Game You now can use your arrow keys and move to the desired move and do your (infinite) analysis or any other analysis(es) or analysisi(i)?? =) |

 | | STYNTZ: thank u sir. i will try that method. it seems that fritz handles pgn as a text file, then. i have used CHESSMASTER, and it brings in PGN directly. i was told fritz was better, but i havent played one agaist the other yet. thanks again for the help |

 | | WannaBe: <STYNTZ> Yes, PGNs are nothing more than text, you can open/edit/save them by using Windows's own Notepad. It's under start->programs->accessories
But, one thing, you have to change the File Type from *.txt to *.* when opening/saving file. Otherwise you'd not be able to find/open the file, and when you save them, you'll end up with something like Game.pgn.txt if you don't change the File Type. Good luck! |
|
Apr-09-07 | | themadhair: <slight addendum to <WannaBe>'s tip>
Sometimes saving the file as a .pgn will leave you with a file with extension .pgn.txt even if you use <WannaBe>'s tip. The best way to sort this is to open up a folder. On the bar at the top you have the options File / Edit / View / Favourites / Tools / Help. Click 'Tools' and select 'Folder Options'. Choose the 'View' tab. There is an option (you may have to scroll down) called 'Hide extensions for known file types'. Untick and say goodbye forever to windows adding .txt to everything you save. |

 | | tpstar: <brankat> Over the last week, he made several forlorn posts about people not visiting his forum, similar to last summer when he purged everything again for the third time. He was also reviewing previous pages and deleting outside posts to leave more room for his "silly sallies." For the last few days, he was posting old material over and over again, hoping for some (any) response. His final post (now deleted) included a sly comment about needing to do more serious reading, and it was unclear if he will return. |

From reading the April issue of Chess Life...
GM Soltis have a great sense of humor, especially his own proposed rules to level the playing field of computer vs. human matches. Had me in stitches. I had a few good laughs reading the USCF Executive Board Candidate Statements. Brought tears to my eyes... I was laughing so hard. |
