Jun-12-07  nescio: <WannaBe: So, I'm not sure if they are the same person, or not... =( >

How do we establish that? Just as well we don't perhaps, for I just read some of the games and their quality don't make them really worth submitting. The Monroi databank has some more recent games of Y.Cardona, but I can't find whether they provide a pgn.

<She is such a cutie!> Aha! I see, a connoisseur.
Who would you say is cuter in the following video: the beautiful woman or the boy soprano? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUT9...

  WannaBe: ♔ !! SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT !! ♔

Since the 2007 Chessgames.com get-together in Chicago was so much fun...

The 2008 Chessgames.com get-together will be in New York City!!

Why New York, you ask... Well, actually, it's because 2008 is the last year of the Yankee's ball park, a.k.a. Death Star (info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yankee...) and <DrDum> and I would like to visit it before it becomes a parking lot. (See the Wiki page)

So, besides Yankee Stadium, we'll also like to visit Marshall Chess Club, http://www.marshallchessclub.org/ take some pictures, and get our rear-end beaten silly by the better chess players there...

Exact date will be announced March/April 2008, (that's when the baseball schedule gets released.) So start saving those pennies and dimes! =)

Jun-12-07  Swapmeet: <Wannabe> Awesome! I'm a member at the Marshall, and as far as I know they're policy is one guest per member, but I could probably work something out with them before hand.

WannaBe: <Swapmeet> Yikes!! It will be a worse beating than I thought/imagined.
Jun-12-07  HFlew: Hey! I thought Ronald Grzegorczyk looked familiar:

http://uschess.org/msa/XtblMain.php...

I've played him before! It was a memorable game: He let me play Nd7+, forking K, Q, and R!

Jun-12-07  nescio: <WannaBe> I have figured out how to grab a pgn from the Monroi databank and submitted Cardona's games to chessgames.com.

WannaBe: <nescio> Bless you!!!! Please submit them, so that CG can publish/create a page for Ms. Cardona. And then I'll submit the picture of her.

Thank you so much!!

WannaBe: <Dr.Lecter> Until you're fully activated on GameKnot.com, I am unable to challenge you to a game.

My handle on GK.come is WannaBeCG

Jun-13-07  whiskeyrebel: I'm back from Vegas finally. I got to attend a bit of the Korchnoi / Browne duo simul. A hard to beat Monday morning activity, eh? Nice pic's..especially the ones of me. How come you didn't snap any on the days I wore imported 3 piece suits?
Jun-13-07  HFlew: <WannaBe> I did see your pictures! I especially liked the Kortchnoi one with the caption "How does this fancy gizmo work?". I think I might have considered Na6 (on my diagram I posted) for about 2 nanoseconds. I really liked Nd7, so I kept looking to make sure it worked. It was a fork, and best of all, he could take my N!
Jun-13-07  nescio: <WannaBe> Yulia Cardona

<And then I'll submit the picture of her.>

If she turns out to be just as cute as my daughters it will be worth the trouble.

Jun-13-07  pazzed paun: <wannabe> congratulations on your tournament wins tells us more about the games and prizes!!! ...upset prize... what a great term the more upset your opponent gets at losing to you the bigger prize you get!,, bring on the tantrums!

Varuzhan Akobian

Amon Simutowe

Bosko Abramovic

Joshua E Friedel

Merab Gagunashvili

Hikaru Nakamura

All now have 'new' or 'updated' pictures! =)

Now, waiting for Y. Cardona, I just submitted her pic.

Jun-13-07  WBP: <Wannabe> many thanks for posting your accounts and pictures of the tournaments (Chicago and Vegas). I'm half-inclined to join you guys at the next one. The pictures are really terrific, both those of the GMs, and those of you guys yourselves!

And congratulations on the biggest upset award!

Best, Bill

WannaBe: <WBP> Thanks for the kind words, and you're welcome!!!
Jun-13-07  Dr.Lecter: <wannabe> What are you talking about? We've already got a game going on. Or was that before the game started?
Jun-13-07  RonB52734: <WannaBe> That's a nice picture of Shabalov. It's funny, I just sat down at my computer to pull up some of the photos I took yesterday to see if any of them would be appropriate for his page, and I saw yours. Did you get to meet him?
Jun-13-07

  WannaBe: <Dr.Lecter> That was before.

<RonB52734> Thank you, and yes! But <whiskeyrebel> got the bigger kick, he played in the simul. against GM Shabalov.

Jun-13-07  you vs yourself: <WannaBe> Congratulations on the upset prize!
Jun-14-07  whiskeyrebel: Shaba's simul was amazing; he literally tore into us all at once like a chain-saw. I can't remember the last time I had a lost position so fast.

WannaBe: Time for another Book Review by <WannaBe>

"Blaze" by Richard Bachman, with forward by Stephen King.

I give it B, possibly B-, considering how long ago this book was written, and how it was re-discovered, and re-edited recently, not a bad read.

I know some people still haven't read it yet, so I won't give too much away. But I think most Richard Bachman/Stephen King fans won't be disappointed in this book.

Next review, "Stalin's Ghost" By Martin Cruz Smith, in a few days...
