WannaBe: In case I forgot, congrats to them Lady Bruins. =)) U. Mich (69-63) won, but the last spread I saw was -6.5, so if you took UConn w/ spread, you got very lucky, if you bet on them U. Mich, I feel bad; the O/U was 148.5

WannaBe: <CIO> LOL. I remember those mems... <chancho> North by Norwest, totally agree, the audiences know that the plane scene was filmed earlier and played on a screen behind. It was still drama. Same thing with the Mt. Rushmore chase scene.

WannaBe: ¡Olé! ¡Olé! this is what I see for "¡Olé! ¡Olé!" (game of the day Mar-13-2026) I also know this issue have been around for a while, and it's not that important, in IT term, it is a level 'C', cosmetic fix. But I just wish to report it again. Can CG.com unify this ...

WannaBe: <FSR> March 11 is his birthday, and usually PoD is chosen from the birth date of the player. So unless CG.com decides to change the algorithm on how PoD is decided. We will randomly get "undesired" player(s).

WannaBe: Got 2 games (challenges) from fellow CG.com members:

http://gameknot.com/chess.pl?bd=812...

http://gameknot.com/chess.pl?bd=814...

Now, watch as my rating drops again... For some reason(s), I can hold my own pretty good, until another CG.com member(s) comes along and kick me right back down the rating ladder... =(

Sep-18-07  Zebra: Hmmm. They're not on the User: GameKnot list.

WannaBe: <Zebra> Then the <percyblakeney> should be FIRED, FIRED I say!! How can he be slacking?! And not keep things up-to-date!?!?

The two members are fairly new, I'll make a note in <percyblakeney>'s forum. =)

Sep-18-07  Zebra: <Wannabe> I think it's shocking.

WannaBe: You know, when the first Elizabeth (Movie) came out, I did not watch it, I've read "Six Wives of Henry VIII" by David Starkey http://www.amazon.com/Six-Wives-Que... (but I have the hard cover edition =)

And "Elizabeth" http://www.amazon.com/Elizabeth-Str... also by David Starkey, and lastly, I've read "Elizabeth and Mary" by Jane Dunn http://www.amazon.com/Elizabeth-Mar...

Fully well knowing the history, I think I'll watch the 'sequel' to Elizabeth, it's titled "Elizabeth, The Golden Ages" http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/18094... great naval battles, and it also maybe, just maybe, I will learn something new... =)

WannaBe: P.S. Do you know how to remember the six wives in order? It's CAJACC! Catherine of Aragon, Anne Bolyne, Jane Seymore, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, and Catherine Parr.

Guess Henry liked women named Catherine, then Anne!! =)

Sep-19-07  technical draw: Remember six wives name? I only have one and shes whats her name?!

WannaBe: A little study in tactics... Or how deep you saw versus how deep your opponent saw:

My actual game, after 12. Nc4 b5??

click for larger view

white (me) plays 13. Nxb5, now, it is very tempting to recapture that knight. But to do so, would bring disaster upon black. However, my opponent decided to recapture anyway...

This game is still on-going, but I think, even with my 'skills', I won't blunder this game away.

Sep-19-07  achieve: <WannaBe> Qxb5? Then you fork him/her on d6 - then you c-file the hell out of your opponent..

Wasn't there a resignation? If not, kick ass time! ;-))

WannaBe: <achieve> No, my opponent have not resigned, yet.
Sep-19-07  achieve: He should, anyway, I just had my first Draw at GK.. So <dakkie>'s 13/0/0 record is out of reach now, but dak is playing some very strong chess I can tell you!
Sep-19-07  chessamateur: <WannaBe> I have some advice for you opponent. IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION!

WannaBe: <achieve> Thanks for the warning, I'll avoid any/all game with <dakkie>!!
Sep-20-07  chessmoron: LA Dodgers lost again!

What a disappointment!

WannaBe: Looks like 'Next Year' for the Dodgers... Bullpen didn't/can't hold the leads. Saito blows a save (rare) and Broxton blows one... =(

Finished this month issue of NG, and wow! The article on bio-fuel is great! http://magma.nationalgeographic.com... have an excellent picture from India with blue-painted walls. The caption states, it traditionally marks the house of a Brahmans. (Makes me wonder if this 'color' differentiation is still true)

And the article on zoonosis is just educational.

Sep-20-07  YouRang: Remember that fiasco we had with the Dodgers last week (we discovered the hard way that they rescheduled the game at an earlier time)?

It turns out that the Dodgers don't do refunds. On the back of the ticket, the super fine print says that the buyer is responsible for checking the start times daily. :-O

Normally, the best they will do is offer a Tuesday or Wednesday game (our tickets were for Saturday night).

However, after some protesting and explaining that this was a special planned occasion planned long in advance, they gave us tickets for Saturday the 29th.

Of course, the difference is that it will be a meaningless game, playoff-wise. :-|
