WannaBe: <Breunor> Good question, I ran this game through the computer game analysis and: 31...Kg6 32.Bxa7 Bc4 33.Nd5 Nc6 34.Bc5 Ne5 35.Ke3 Bf1 36.Bd4 ⩱ +0.87 (41 ply) Possibly white was low on time and don't want to risk the chance to reaching move 40

Jan-22-06  NakoSonorense: Sorry, guys. I don't have much time right now. 17...Be7 looks fine to me.

WannaBe: That's not a good line... shoot!! Rd1 will prevent that. Exchange the Qs and retake with R instead of K.
Jan-22-06  Robin01: 17...Be7, 18.fxe5, 18...dxe5. This looks okay for us.

WannaBe: we'll still drop a pawn.
Jan-22-06  Robin01: I do not think so.
Jan-22-06  Robin01: <WannaBe> Show me the line you think we'll drop a pawn in.

WannaBe: Oh geeze, Be7 is horrible, can't, don't play it!

17...Be7 18. fxe5 dxe5 19. Qxd7 Kxd7 20 Nxe5+

If 20...Nxe5 21. Rxf7+
If 20...Ke7 21. Rxf7+

WannaBe: Can't believe I did not see those when I went through the lines yesterday! =(
Jan-22-06  RonB52734: <Robin> <After 18.fxe5 we have to play 18...dxe5.> Correct.

<WannaBe> <we'll still drop a pawn> I don't see that. We still have the c6 Knight defending the pawn, and time to bring other defenders based on what White plays.

Jan-22-06  NakoSonorense: wannabe, 21.Rxf7 is not check. If 21.Rxf7, then Nxf7 :)

WannaBe: But we'd drop the bishop.
Jan-22-06  Robin01: <WannaBe> First off, white will not play Qxd7 and trade off their queen. So they will have to make another queen move, which is good for us. I do not see any queen moves for them that are really threatening. Also, you missed the fact that if we play 20...Nxe5 then our knight is protecting the bishop on f7, so white cannot take it.
Jan-22-06  RonB52734: <WannaBe> <If 20...Nxe5 21. Rxf7+> Super. Then 21...Nxf7

WannaBe: <NakoSonorense> That's white's knight on e5, ours is still on c6. Unless I'm really not seeing the board today. (And I have not drank anything!)

WannaBe: Okay, I'm seeing things that's not there. =)

I'll go with Be7. Forget my previous rants. LOL.

Jan-22-06  RonB52734: Hey <Nako> and <Robin>. Glad to see you're online. Any other thoughts, votes?
Jan-22-06  RonB52734: LOL <WannaBe> That's what I call "seeing ghosts." It's a big problem of mine, but it's one of the benefits of a slow consultation game that we can check each other on things like that.
Jan-22-06  Robin01: I think white will probably play 18.Re1 next. That is what I have been looking at. This position looks like it is going to get really tactical.
Jan-22-06  Robin01: Actually, I have been looking at a line that goes: 17...Be7, 18.Re1, 18...Nb4, 19.Qe4, 19...d5, 20.Qxe5, 20...Nd3. I do not know if this is any good and I am just analyzing stuff like this.

WannaBe: <Robin01> I think if they go Re1, we'll go with Bf6 to add another protector.

Maybe I'll go and get a beer now. Clear up my eye-sight.

Jan-22-06  RonB52734: What if 17...Be7 18.g4 ?
Jan-22-06  Robin01: I really have not looked at 18.g4 too much, but I do not see any real threat there. We might be able to play 18...h5 in that case and open the h file, which I would think benefits us.
Jan-22-06  Robin01: White is also exposing their king's position by playing 18.g4.

  WannaBe: I think if 17...Be7 18. g4 exf4 19. Bxf4 g5
Jan-22-06  Robin01: I believe one positive for white in this position is that their king is much safer than ours.
