| Oct-31-07 | | chessmoron: That's not <WannaBe>, it's the educational nudie mag, Playboy. |
| Oct-31-07 | | whiteshark: <chessmoron>, I really tried hard for several hours. Pure and remarkable coincidence, that is! |

 | | WannaBe: Thanks guys... I can't fault anyone except my own stupidity... Just when you know/thought you can anticipate all events... Maybe that's why my chess game ends up the same way! =) |

 | | WannaBe: So, I was dinky-ing around on youtube again... Doing more research on oldies. And I wanted to look up 'Angel of the Morning' by Merrilee Rush, didn't come across <NUN'ING>, but got a few hits on Juice Newton and her version. Oh well, another failure, what else is new... then I saw this version by Nina Simone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TMt... It's her voice, just the lyrics are on the screen. I said to me li'l self, wow, who is she?! Gotta look it up!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nina_s... |

 | | WannaBe: There are song(s) that should just be left 'alone' and never be touched, never, ever, again... Compare http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kTr... with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhuD... |

| Nov-01-07 | | brankat: <WannaBe> The entire country is thoroughly corrupted. So why worry about a few files :-) |

 | | WannaBe: "I am frustrated and angry. I believe that I am absolutely 100 percent innocent." She believe? You mean she <DON'T KNOW> ?? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071101... Maybe it's just a case of bad English. |

 | | cu8sfan: <WannaBe: What a bloody freaking day, should have just stayed in bed...> Cool, is this the forum for venting anger with computers? Three years ago I bought a Mac to get rid of all the Windows trouble. Last weekend I installed Leopard. After ten reboots, twenty screen freezes, something similar to a blue screen and an airport card that was not recognized anymore I was more than willing to trade back. Now I read that the firewall is rubbish and the first MacTrojans (or iTroys) are about... |

 | | WannaBe: This forum can be used for <ANY> venting... even air ducts.. |

 | | WannaBe: Early commentary on 'Troublesome Young Men', N. Chamberlain was an idiot... Before reading this book, I just thought he was naive/stupid. Good read, great book, about 60% of my way through, probably be done with it sometimes next week, then it will go on the my shelve next to my other WWII related books. |

 | | WannaBe: <hitman84> Okay, what version of JRE? And what is the problem?? Did you get the download from sun? http://java.sun.com/javase/download... And is the packaged file a .bin? |
| Nov-02-07 | | hitman84: Man this whole thing sucks. I've installed it and even created a symbolic link but still isn't working. Here's the file jre-6u3-linux-i586-rpm.bin
Do I need to d'load JDK as well ? |
Nov-02-07
 | | WannaBe: <hitman84> No, you <SHOULD NOT> need the JDK, all you need is the JRE (for example, to look at the and move the pieces here at CG.com, all you need is the JRE). What/how are you trying/testing to see if it worked? In this link http://java.sun.com/javase/download... there are install/download documentations. See if they help any. |
| Nov-02-07 | | hitman84: Ok I d'loaded this file..
jre-1_5_0_13-linux-i586-rpm.bin
What is the installation procedure ?
| Nov-02-07 | | hitman84: Ok one last try :) |
Nov-02-07
 | | WannaBe: <hitman84> http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/jre/... *Usually* on a .bin file, you can just execute it, double click then select 'RUN'. Be sure you have the correct user priviledges. |
| Nov-02-07 | | hitman84: A newer version of JRE is already installed and that thing doesn't work :( |
Nov-02-07
 | | WannaBe: <hitman84> What are you trying that isn't working? And here's the notes on installation for Linux: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/inst... |
| Nov-02-07 | | hitman84: Yes I changed the permissions. I didn't use the chmod. Just right click on the file and enable execute. Then I compiled the binary file after which you get an RPM. The RPM didn't install as I already have a newer version installed. |
Nov-02-07
 | | WannaBe: <hitman84> Maybe we should back track to your original problem, what was not working? Viewing the games here? or something else? |
| Nov-02-07 | | hitman84: <WannaBe>Java and javascript are enabled in my browser settings. I get that usual green symbol in place of the java applet when I open a web page. |
