 | | WannaBe: I've got these words for Windows Vista, even when running on Pentium Duo, with 1G of RAM, and running at 1.60 GHz... YOU SUCK!! YOU SUCK!! YOU SUCK!!!!!
Oh, my <GOD>, if my old one didn't not die, I'd never have bought a computer w/ Vista... Unfortunately, my restore disk only works with my last laptop, I want to go back to my old XP, this OS, interface, and everything, sucks...... It's not I don't know remember anything about computers... Again, let me stress this point, <SUCKS, SUCKS, SUCKS, SUCKS, SUCKS, SUCKS!!!!!!> Am I clear on that point?! Is/are there any confusions???? |

 | | WannaBe: A quick recap of my weekend, Friday, I took early posession of the joint/bar, so now, the $$$ actually goes into my acct. Saturday, I worked a full shift, 13+ hours, the computer worked in the morning, I was able to enter the inventories and the dollars amount into the spreadsheet... In the afternoon, it was a bit slow, so I wanted to check out what was on-line... Laptop didn't want to cooperate. Immediate diagnosis was the power supply, and I found difficulties in disassembling my laptop... Finally gave up and went out, bought this new one, spent another 2 hours to configure all the settings to the way <I> like it... (Yes, it is all about me!!!) Anyway, I was able to take the old IDE hard drive out, and buy an adapter for the IDE -> USB. And get my old files off the 'old' drive... To make a long story 'short'... I want my old/slow computer back. Can't wait to put <eclipse> on this thing and see what it will 'prompt/complain' about... |

 | | WannaBe: <NakoSonorense> You have <NO> idea... <brankat> I've thought about stealing from the money drawer, then I realized, it doesn't solve anything! =) But I have to say, this 15.4" monitor with the new 'clear display' is quite nice... but that is all the nice thing(s) I have to say for now. |

 | | WannaBe: For the last days, (or since Friday)... I've signed papers on Friday, one of my girl want to switch day with me, so I worked Saturday, and wanted to visit the Star Trek exhibition on Sunday. On Sunday, she came to work, (I saw her, because I had to do some more paperwork) and a few hours later, she called me and said she is feeling really ill, and would like to go home. (She got into a single car spin-out the night before, because of the rain/weather) Good thing that I didn't go to the exhibition, due to the bad weather in SoCal, so I went back to work and 'relieved' her. So..... in that 48 hours span, I worked about 23 hours, and then monday morning, I went back and opened the doors, went to the insurance agency, then came back, because I have one of my buddy doing the refurbishing of bar stools. So I was there doing more business arrangements... Finally got a chance to get a meal around 4 PM... and that is the about the 4th 'real' meal I've had in the last 48 hours. The good thing is, after all the working/walking/lack of sleep, think I've lost about 6 lb. of weight... =) |

| Jan-29-08 | | nescio: <Need a vacation from my new job... =)> Welcome to the world of self-employment (is that the right English word? Well, I'll risk it). At the moment I have an estimated workload of 70 hours which I somehow have to finish before the end of the week. Such will happen sometimes, as you experience now, but there will also be periods that there isn't much to do and you really have a holiday feeling. Some people then start to worry that they don't have enough work... |

| Jan-29-08 | | suenteus po 147: <WannaBe> Let me just say you are dead on about Windows Vista. My parents bought me a laptop for Christmas (I think they miss me), and it cam with Vista. SUCKTACULAR! I find after a month, I'm still using my old computer as much or more than my laptop because of the suckage of Vista. My parents have asked twice how the new laptop is going. "Great, just great!" I'm a damn liar. |
|
| Jan-29-08 | | brankat: After reading the above posts, I was pleasantly surprised, indeed, quite glad to realize that, compared to You guys, I really have nothing to worry about at all. I don't have a business, or a job, a desktop, or a laptop, employees or an inventory, no 70 hours workload or exhibitions to go to, only 1 meal in 48 hours, not 4, no more pounds left to lose. I should be laughing :-) |

| Jan-29-08 | | Larsker: <Vista> works fine for me. In fact, it's the first stable version of Windows I've ever had. All previous versions, in particular Windows XP, regularly crashed for no particular reason. I would sit there working and <boom> the pc would reboot without any prior warning. I hated that - but it doesn't happen with Vista. As to the finer aspects of the Vista, I have no opinion. I'm happy as long as it doesn't mess up my work. |

 | | WannaBe: <nescio> Correct words. =) I did expect very, very busy first few weeks, mostly running around getting paper works in order, and meeting my supply representitives... Hopefully things will be calmer after the first 3 or 4 weeks. <brankat> Right now, it is sleep for 9 hours, working rest of the time, but Monday night, was able to take off a few hours, and went to my old bar had a few brew with my buddies. That was nice, went home and immediately crashed, didn't even get a chance to read any of my book... =( <Larsker> Vista is a pain in the rear-end, all the pop-up questions when I want to perform an operation! (Yes, I want to do my own appendectomy!! =) And my account is, of course, the administrative account, and the stupid dang thing think I don't know what I am doing... (I really haven't forgotten that much, I only left my day job 2 weeks ago! :-)) |

 | | WannaBe: Stupid, Stupid programs, I don't want Napster on my computer, I don't want google desktop, I don't want Toshiba Computer Personal Assistant!! Remove, remove, remove!! Doing the Stalin <PURGE> of all the crap software that came pre-installed! |
|
| Jan-29-08 | | Larsker: <all the pop-up questions when I want to perform an operation!> Oh - I disabled the <User Account Control>. It's incredibly obnoxious when it's enabled, I have to agree. |
|
Jan-29-08
 | | WannaBe: <Larsker> Thanks for the hint!! =) Now, I just have to find where that is at... |
|
| Jan-29-08 | | Larsker: It's in the <Control panel> => <Windows Security Center> - but you probably already found it. |
|
Jan-29-08
 | | WannaBe: Yes, but now when ever I start it up, it warns me about the Security Center needs my attention, because I turned the User Account Control to <OFF> =( |
|
Jan-29-08
 | | WannaBe: Found the place to turn that to <OFF> too! =) |
|
| Jan-29-08 | | valiant: HallÄ! My niece Greta told me that I shouldn't use the administrative account when I, for instance, play chess. Only to install or update important things... |
|
| Jan-30-08 | | Larsker: <WannaBe: Yes, but now when ever I start it up, it warns me about the Security Center needs my attention, because I turned the User Account Control to <OFF> Yea, but just ignore it. Listen to niece Greta. |
|
| Jan-30-08 | | Open Defence: < Let me just say you are dead on about Windows Vista.> one more reason to use a Mac :) ... btw on my office laptop Office 2007 sucks big time on speed, no matter what configuration you have it seems to slow it down |
|
| Jan-30-08 | | NakoSonorense: I don't like 'em apples.
<wannabe> I think I read somewhere that DELL is switching back to XP due to numerous complaints about Vista. I guess it lets you switch back and forth depending on how you like it. Your new laptop doesn't have that option? I haven't had a chance to mess with Vista, so I don't really know what's wrong with it. Is it just the pop-up warnings or there's something else? |
|
Jan-30-08
 | | WannaBe: <NakoSonorense> Yes, if you buy from Dell, you have the option of XP or Vista, but I went to my Office Depot where they had a sale. I have no option on my Operating System. |
