WannaBe: Just did some really rough/quick math... If I can average about 600 bucks a day gross, I can do relatively OK. But then it would take me about 25 years to pay back the loan that I took for the business.

If I can increase the sales, I can pay off the loan faster, and/or be able to buy a second joint faster...

<STRESS, STRESS, STRESS>

Anyone want to hire a computer software engineer w/ 10 years of experience? (Also have 3 years of Kibitz'n experience =)

WannaBe: I've lost to <NakoSonorense> in 10/0 games, and now I'm in horrible position against him on GameKnot! On a corrsp. game! =(
Jan-23-08  JoeWms: You say your pub is a <beer and whine> place. Good! I won't have to pay for a psychiatrist or psychologist. Next time I'm feeling depressed, I'll hitch a ride to Long Beach, buy a Bud, and dump on you for a couple hours.

WannaBe: Going to 'devote/turn' this forum to money, investment, business, and general economics.

It is kinda funny, I've been advising and giving out my opinions on retirement funds and how to handle money investments to some of my friends for the last 6+ years...

Basic ideas that I go by, <GO AGAINST THE CROWD>!! If they are buying, you sell, if they are selling, you buy! (And also listen to Warren Buffet!)

Back in the dot com craze days, I was just hired by my ex-employer, and got involved with retirement accounts, 401K and Roth IRA, I was advised by my good, good friend (ex-bond/stock broker, who later became a real-estate appraiser, and he did the appraisal for my condo) on how to split my money into different funds.

Then I started reading various magazines (Money, Business Weekly, etc) and newspapers (Investors Businiess Daily, Wall Street Journal Sunday Edition) also books on mutual funds, hedge funds, foreign exchange, currency, futures, selling/buying a call/put and all that derivitive stuff, and I got a better concept on what is going on.

So, if you got a (computer) question, ask! =)

Jan-23-08  technical draw: <Wannabe> So after all that experience in the financial markets you buy a bar! Great, get them drunk and watch the cash flow. (cash flow, get it? ha ha !)

Jan-23-08  technical draw: Why would you want to scare away the drunks? Aren't they your best customers?

WannaBe: The latest issue of National Graphic, (Black Pharaohs on the front cover) have an excellent article, called "Mexico's Other Border"

One of the most harrowing, scary, enlightened article I've ever read, highly recommended.

If nothing else, go spend 10 minutes at your local public library and read this article.

Jan-24-08  NakoSonorense: Is this the one?

http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/n...

No need to go to a smelly library for that. =) Ok, I'll read it.

WannaBe: <NakoSonorense> Yes,that's the article. I keep on forgetting that there is this thing, called internet now...

No mo' need for libraries. =(

Jan-24-08  suenteus po 147: <WannaBe> Actually, libraries have a multitude of uses for the 21st century. Teenagers enjoy the unsupervised internet access they can't often get at home, and homeless people use it for much needed shelter they can't get anywhere else. I'm sure even the books in there are good for something.

Put the computer on the 'company' Visa card. =)

Jan-28-08  NakoSonorense: The longest two days of your life, I bet! =)
Jan-29-08  brankat: <WannaBe> <Put the computer on the 'company' Visa card. =)>

You are the company :-)

Jan-29-08  Open Defence: <No mo' need for libraries. =( > erm you haven't seen the episode of Friends where Ross is policing the library as it is a favorite haunt of amorous couples ?
Jan-29-08  brankat: <Open Defence> You are still not at work? ;-)
Jan-29-08  Open Defence: workin from home today
