Jan-25-06  RonB52734: <Robin01> I agree, especially with your second post. I believe that trades generally benefit us (as long as we're not trading off a strong outpost for a weak location), not only because of our King situation, but also because we have the passed pawn and the extra pawn.

I'd give free pizza to anyone who can activate and connect our rooks......

Jan-25-06  Robin01: If we play 19...a6, I believe white will either play 20.Rac1 or 20.Rad1.
Jan-25-06  Robin01: Our rooks may get into play on c8 and f8, but I do not believe they will get connected any time soon.
Jan-25-06  RonB52734: <If we play 19...a6, I believe white will either play 20.Rac1 or 20.Rad1> I agree that looks probable. The nice thing about ...a6 is that our a8 Rook can divorce itself from the pawns over there without having to pay child support :)

<Our rooks may get into play on c8 and f8, but I do not believe they will get connected any time soon> Again, this looks probable. But, with our Q and both B's looking at the h-file, I'm not in an enormous hurry to take the Rook away from h.

Jan-25-06  Robin01: If we play h5 later, and then Rh6, the rook may play a part in protecting the center, and then it can also go on over to f6. Just dreaming about ideal positions for us.

WannaBe: <Robin01: I like our position. Our one main weak point, I believe, is that our king is stuck in the middle for right now.> Rook to the left of me, Rook to the right, stuck in the middle with you...

Connected rooks, if chance presents itself, Kd7 and voila!

I'm voting for Kc4! Then we'll capture their queen!!

Jan-25-06  Robin01: <Rook to the left of me, Rook to the right, stuck in the middle with you...> I remember that song. It was sung by some female IM, if I recall correctly:')
Jan-25-06  RonB52734: LOL <WannaBe>. Remember the story about the game with only two Kings on the board.....
Jan-25-06  RonB52734: Ok folks, we're approaching midnight. Technically, the time control hasn't changed yet and we have to post a move by midnight. I need one more vote please.
Jan-25-06  you vs yourself: <WannaBe> I was looking at your latest FEN on <averageguy>'s page; after seeing Rb8, I was staring at the board for at least 7 mins trying to figure out why the knight didn't take white's rook and how both white and black ignored the threat. Then I started to figure out what would happen if the white queen takes the knight; I was looking for a brilliant plan, where maybe you had plans to trap the queen via Be6 or something and found nothing.

Finally, I decided to count the pieces on the board and I saw three knights!! Are you trying to confuse Julius with bad FEN diagrams?:)

Jan-25-06  RonB52734: <Team> I'm warning you, I'll declare 3 members to be a quorum, and I'll post a6 based on 2 votes out of 3, counting <WannaBe> as present but abstaining. at 11:59, I'm posting our move.

Where are you guys?

WannaBe: I'll vote a6. Watching 'Fargo'.
Jan-25-06  Robin01: Well, if no one else comes on, then I guess you just have to post 19...a6 based on our two votes. I prefer having the whole team vote. That is why we need the rule change to 24 hours.
Jan-25-06  Robin01: Well, now we at least have the three votes needed.

WannaBe: <you vs yourself> Thanks for noticing the FEN. I should have pay more attention, next time.
Jan-25-06  Robin01: I'm reading "The Art of Defense in Chess" by Andrew Soltis, IM, and it is a very good book.
Jan-25-06  RonB52734: I am reading "The Age of Reason" by Thomas Paine, and it has not a damned thing to do with chess LOL.

WannaBe: I'm reading "Cell" the new Stephen King book.
Jan-25-06  Robin01: Well, time to drift off...zzzzzzzzz
Jan-25-06  RonB52734: Goodnight all.
Jan-26-06  Robin01: All quiet on the deck I see. Has the new 24-hour rule been put into effect yet?
Jan-26-06  RonB52734: The new rule is not yet official.
Jan-26-06  RonB52734: They have played 20.Rae1

Jan-26-06  sitzkrieg: Anything goes here. Time to move the king? or the rook?
Jan-26-06  NakoSonorense: Hello guys!

I think it's time to move one of our rooks to an open file. I was looking at 20...Rc8, but I like 20...Rf8 more.

I vote for <20...Rf8>
