 | | Phony Benoni: This NFL playoff system is all screwed up. When an 8-8 team has a chance to win it all, it's time to bring in a SuperBowl Championship Series. Let the computers decide everything and get rid of these random happenings on the field! |
|
Jan-18-09
 | | WannaBe: <Phony Benoni> The computers have declared Ohio State as the NFL Superbowl Champions! |
|
| Jan-19-09 | | NakoSonorense: Is Arizona really that bad that everybody is talking about how amazing it is for them to be in the Super Bowl?! Anyway, I'll be rooting for the Steelers because I just don't like Arizona teams at all! <wannabe> On Wednesday, I'm done at 11:15 AM. That works for you? |
|
| Jan-19-09 | | Travis Bickle: Pittsburgh is going to kill Arizona. They are just too physical for them. |
|
Jan-19-09
 | | chancho: <WannaBe> Did you see the latest Monk epi where he gets shot? Freaking hilarious! |
|
Jan-19-09
 | | WannaBe: <Nako> Yes, Arizona have always been a team of inept(ness). On top of that, the NFC West is very weak (for the past few years...) Not to mention that they moved from Chicago to St. Louis to Arizona. =) |
|
Jan-19-09
 | | Phony Benoni: I'd say moving to Arizona from Chicago or St. Louis was actually a sign of extreme intelligence. Or maybe I'm just jaundiced because we had a heat wave today, with the temperature almost reaching 20 degrees. <Above> zero. By the way, I hereby repent in sackcloth and ashes. Arizona actually went 9-7 this year, not 8-8. <Travis> is probably right, but I note that the People Who Ought to Know have only made the Steelers a 7-point favorite. I would have expected double digits. However, don't forget that Arizona beat two pretty physical teams in Carolina and Philadelphia, though admittedly they aren't in Pittsburgh's class. Also, Kurt Warner is no Joe Gecko, and Larry Fitzgerald makes Superman look like a player on the Lions. |
|
Jan-19-09
 | | chancho: <WannaBe> Enjoy it bro. |
|
| Jan-20-09 | | Travis Bickle: <Phony Benoni> I think the line is only 7 because the smart money in Vegas has bet heavy on Pittsburgh thus driving the line down, thus trying to induce more Arizona bets. |
|
Jan-20-09
 | | Phony Benoni: <Travis Bickle> I just remember the Detroit sportswriter who predicted the oucome of Super Bowl III as "Colts 270, Jets 0" and had to live with that for the rest of his life. |
|
| Jan-20-09 | | Travis Bickle: <Phony Benoni. Yeah he made a slight miscalculation on that game haha!!! I guess it comes down to the old addage
"that's why they play the games"! |

 | | WannaBe: Obama is doing a great job, so far the market have fallen 300+ points, and 2 fellow senators gotten taken to the hospital. Things are already looking up! =) |
|
| Jan-20-09 | | chessmoron: <WannaBe> Yesterday the third largest bank in the World, RBS, pretty much collapsed and was nationalized in the UK. Bad for markets. So isn't really his fault AT ALL! |
|
Jan-20-09
 | | chancho: Did most of that 300+ points fall before Obama took the oath? If so, then it was that A-ho Bush who gave the markets a parting kiss. |
|
| Jan-20-09 | | dakgootje: <Did most of that 300+ points fall before Obama took the oath? If so, then it was that A-ho Bush who gave the markets a parting kiss.> About half of them.
The Dow Jones openend at 8,279.63 - had fallen to 8121.53 by noon so just before the oath was planned - and ended the day at 7,949.09. So it had fallen 158.1 points before noon and 172.44 after. |
|
Jan-20-09
 | | Phony Benoni: I suppose the market might have reversed itself had the heavens opened and the spirit descended as a dove upon Obama's shoulder. Short of that, no. |
|
| Jan-20-09 | | satch boogie: <Phony Benoni> I'm surprised they didnt after his speech today. The United States doesnt need change, it needs improvement.
Keep the change, Obama.
Yours Truly,
satch boogie |

| Jan-21-09 | | NakoSonorense: <wannabe> Thanks for the help today. No complaints so far with the new toy. Hope it stays that way. Those were games. The second one where I played ...d4 pinning your Queen was quite interesting. :) |
|
Jan-21-09
 | | WannaBe: Good luck w/ the new toy, (don't wanna talk about the 3 games we played), I ended up +0 -3 =0 =( |
|
| Jan-21-09 | | NakoSonorense: I meant to say "Those were good games."
They were four games! |
|
Jan-21-09
 | | WannaBe: Bird, Sicilian, Reti/KIA, Sicilian... Yep, four games. +0 -4 =0 =( |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Hello <MannBee>, are you enjoying Korean New Year? heh
I have a computer question.
Ok suppose there's this person.
We'll call here "person X".
Ok she has here laptop on almost 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And it's been overheating and crashing lately.
So I know that an overheating problem can be solved by decreasing the ambient temperature around the computer. I wish I had a kind of plate thingy that was set at 0 degress to sit my laptop on. I tried little external fans pointed at my laptop=
I have my laptop raised on four little peg thingies so the air can pass underneath it. Now I've opened both my patio doors and turned off my heat in my apartment so there's a pleasant -5 degrees "breeze" wafting over me and my laptop. I'm wearing every article of clothing I have, and am rolled up in six blankets like a sausage. Do you think "Person X" is crazy?
I do.
I'm going to have here committed soon.
Can heat problems wreck operating systems in your computer? Or does it always shut down before that happens?
If you don't know <person X>, I'd advise not getting to know her. She's far more trouble than she's worth. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Hi again <MannBee>
Ok I got the thing cooled down enough to research on the Net. Clues? It was shutting down mainly when I was operating someting that uses a lot of CPU- like my chess computer or my cool 3-D Horse Racing game I downloaded. Or watching streaming video.
So all sites say to open up the lap top and clean the dust off the fan and around the heat sink ports, and then spray it with "Arctic compressed air" product. Obviously I'm too retarded to open up my own laptop.
I'm a messy person so my Puter is probably just choked with dust. So I'm assuming I can go to a computer shop and pay them to open it up and clean out the crap?? Ok that's my plan as soon as the stores open again.
I'll have to do it all in "sign language" of course since I don't speak Korean and not one person in Korea can speak English. Where I live anyway.
OK <MannBee> good luck with your sports gaming being a fan !!! |
