 | | WannaBe: Why, is that 120 rockets have been fired (see last paragraph of article) and I've not heard/read anything about it on-line or in prints; But a single retaliation gets into the headlines???????????? http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/2009030... |

 | | WannaBe: Anyone want to play a game with me on GameKnot.com? I prefer longer time control, 3 days per move or longer, color doesn't matter, I enjoys long walks on the beach, candle light dinner, chess, reading books; 5' 6" or taller, red-head with... Oh, wait, wrong site. |
|
| Mar-04-09 | | NakoSonorense: Please stay away from the red-heads. They are all heart-breakers... I'm never dating one again... (at least until I get to meet another one) :p

 | | WannaBe: Interesting bit of info. (I think, me being a Sicilian player....) Earliest Sicilian in the DB is by Greco & NN http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches... But when you look at it, it is nowhere close to what we know today, black goes off the 'book' almost immediately! (as we know it today...) Doth make one wonder, in another few hundred years, maybe the players will go 'off the book' by move 38, in the Sicilian. |
|
| Mar-04-09 | | dakgootje: Maybe by then the whole concept of the sicilion is highly outdated and only to be found in books of chesshistory! |

| Mar-04-09 | | Travis Bickle: Shhh be wawy quiet Im hunting waaahbits. Hello Mr Rabbit sir I have a comp question for you. I have a 9650 Hewlett Packard Vista machine. I am having trouble backing up my hard drive as reccomended. The first time I tried the system recognized it was the initial time I was executing the system backup. During this initial time I got a flashing light on the bottom right corner to check something, (I've already forgot). Anyway I stopped the backup procedure and checked on the blinking message. When I tryed to backup the hard drive again it was working for a few hours. Then it aborted saying back up attempt was unsuccesful. I tried another time and the same thing happened. I was wondering if maybe my DVD discs werent compatible, (they were called ('Verbatim'). So I purchased Sony DVD +R DL double layer 8.5 gigs. These discs can only be recorded one time. Any suggestions to what is wrong and what I can do would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Travis |

 | | WannaBe: <Travis Bickle> hum, a couple of unknown variables... First of all, I've never backed up my system, I've always made a copy of my files to the flash/jump drive, but never my system. And without knowing how you tried the first time, and what exactly was that flashing light message, I really don't know where to begin to help... =( The DVD disk, 8.5G, it may be too small, because on my computer, and I don't have a lot of crap on there, no music, no movies, etc... My hard drive used space is around 38.2G So, depending on your backup option selected, that DVD may not be big enough. And I'm sorry that I can't answer your question fully/completely. =( |

| Mar-05-09 | | dakgootje: <<dakgootje> Good to see you! Been busy? =)> Not been around the site much but I don't know whether that really was business. That is, not in the conventional way of being busy with the study for that doesn't take ages ;D But ye, I'm quite easily and intensely interested in something so I generally have little difficulty filling my time :D Some time ago though I began working my way through the terrific kingscrusher makes on youtube going slowly but steadily and so I took up some chess again... and started visiting this site again ;D And now, well let's see; maybe I'll stick around and become obsessed with posting novel-length posts again :P |
|
| Mar-05-09 | | dakgootje: Heh, sorry for the double-post but just realised this; couple of weeks ago someone over the internet played 2. Ke2 versus me XD |

| Mar-05-09 | | Travis Bickle: <WannaBe> Thanks for your help. ; ) |

 | | WannaBe: In the March issue of ChessLife, article "What Would Fritz Do" by GM Andy Soltis, a lot of (very) interesting lines were written (about). Some of them include early Ke2 instead of castling for white. Maybe by the time of Fritz/Shredder/Rybka XL, the move of 2. Ke2 would be discovered as 'Sound'!! :-) I would post the link to the article, but you need to be a registered member of USCF to read it. =( |
|
| Mar-19-09 | | Pawnage: Can you post some lines of the WannaBe Gambit for interested kibitzers? I couldn't find many examples. Its very fun to play :) |
