| Jan-29-06 | | RonB52734: We have until 9 a.m. EST to post our move. I'll wait until my morning cup of coffee to hear from <Nako Sonorense>. |
| Jan-29-06 | | Robin01: 22...dxe5 looks good. I vote for this also. Just making it official. Coffee sounds good now, but if I drink it now, I will not sleep. |
| Jan-29-06 | | RonB52734: Thanks <Robin01>. And keep your mitts off of my coffee! :) |
| Jan-29-06 | | Robin01: What king of coffee do you drink? I grind my own beans of 8 O'clock Bean every morning. Great coffee. |
| Jan-29-06 | | RonB52734: <Robin01> Same here (French Roast) although, sometimes if I'm lazy, I grind it at the store. |
| Jan-29-06 | | Robin01: French Roast is good. Well, I'm off to the hay loft. Talk to everyone tomorrow. |
Jan-30-06
 | | WannaBe: French Roast?! Cinnamon Hazel... else straight Hawaiian Kona, or Columbian. You can save the cream and sugar. I like mine au natural. =) PxP. that's my vote. |
| Jan-30-06 | | RonB52734: No word yet from <Nako Sonorense>. I'm going to have to post the move. I don't really think there could be serious opposition to pxp. |
| Jan-30-06 | | Robin01: I see there is no response yet from the white pieces. This is good. We have them thinking again. Well, on the other hand, maybe if they do not think we would be better off. |

 | | WannaBe: click for larger viewThey took with the knight. but why? |
Jan-30-06
 | | WannaBe: They would not make such a 'sacrifice' unless they've got something up their sleeves... if 23...Nxe5 we threaten the queen, then if Qh7 what does that do? if 23...Nxe5, black queen is 'pinned' we can play Bf6 or else we can directly play Rd8 right now, but I don't see anything too good coming out of it. |
| Jan-30-06 | | RonB52734: Fascinating. If 23...Nxe5 24.Qe4, they threaten our N and our a8 R. But with Rc8, it looks to me like we get it back. If 23...Nxe5 24.Qf5, then after 24...Qxf5 25.Rxf5, it looks like 25...Nd3 is good. If 23...Nxe5 24.Qd5, then 24...Qxd5 25.Nxd5 Bd6 looks fine. If 23...Nxe5 24.Qd4, then 24...Nc6 looks good.
If 23...Nxe5, 24.Qg3, then 24...Bd6 looks good.
Right now, nothing else looks especially dangerous. |
| Jan-30-06 | | Robin01: I think they got their pawn back. |
| Jan-30-06 | | Robin01: I have been analyzing some lines and here is what I have come up with: If 23...Nxe5, 24.Qe4 (this is the only good move they have, I believe, if they want to recover their piece), then we can either play: 24...Ra7, 25.Qxe5, 25...Qxe5, 26.Rxe5, 26...Bg6 and it looks like we are okay. 24...Nc6, 25.Rxf7, 25...Qxe4, 26.Rxf8+, 26...Kxf8 and again it looks like we are okay. 24...Nc6, 25.Qxe6, 25...Bxe6, and then if they play 26.Rxe6 we play 26...Rxf1+ and again I think we are okay; and if they continue with 26.Rxf8+, we play 26...Kxf8 and again I think we are okay. How this is all based on white playing 24.Qe4. |
| Jan-30-06 | | RonB52734: How about this:
23...Nxe5 24.Qe3. I'd say they are looking toward something like 25.Ne4 to limit our dark-squared bishop, and then something like 26.Re2 and 27.Rfe1. I think here the correct moves for us are 23...Nxe5 24.Qe3 Rd8 and now with the threat of 25...Nd3, they have to change plans to something like 25.Nc5, so 25...Bxc5 26.Qxc5, but still 26...Nd3 looks good here. |
| Jan-30-06 | | Robin01: I guess we can wait some on our analysis until we see what they play, but I believe we have to play 23...Nxe5 here. |
| Jan-30-06 | | Robin01: <23...Nxe5 24.Qe3> We now have 24...Bf6 protecting the knight. |
| Jan-30-06 | | RonB52734: <Robin01> Why not 23...Nxe5 24.Qe4 Rc8, and if 25.Nb1, then 25...Bd6. Going further, 26.Bf4 Rc5. This looks playable. <24...Nc6, 25.Qxe6, 25...Bxe6, and then if they play 26.Rxe6 we play 26...Rxf1+ > this looks like it loses the pawn. Am I missing something? <24...Ra7, 25.Qxe5, 25...Qxe5, 26.Rxe5, 26...Bg6> again, this looks like it loses the pawn. |
| Jan-30-06 | | Robin01: <Why not 23...Nxe5 24.Qe4 Rc8> White will play either 25.Nxf7 or 25.Nxc6 and these moves win material for white. |
| Jan-30-06 | | RonB52734: <Robin01: <If 23...Nxe5 24.Qe4, they threaten our N and our a8 R. But with Rc8, it looks to me like we get it back> 24...Rc8 loses immediately to either 25.Nxf7 or 25.Nxc6. So 24...Rc8 is not good.> ?? 23...Nxe5 24.Qe4 Rc8 25. their N can't get to either f7 or c6. It's still on c3 (and their other N is in our hand after 23...Nxe5). |
| Jan-30-06 | | Robin01: <RonB52734> You are correct. <23...Nxe5 24.Qe4 Rc8> looks okay. I'm not sure what I was thinking about. Sorry. I think I need to take a break from the chess board. |
| Jan-30-06 | | Robin01: For some reason I kept thinking their knight was still on e5. Brain freeze I guess. |
| Jan-30-06 | | RonB52734: Here, have one of these ThermaCare hot wraps! I have one around my neck right now, after spending the weekend redesigning the pittsburghcc.org website! :) |
| Jan-30-06 | | Robin01: <RonB52734> 23...Nxe5, 24.Qe4, 24...Rc8 looks good also. I took another look at it with that imaginary knight on e5 gone. |
| Jan-30-06 | | Robin01: I think I need a drink (and something definitely stronger than coffee):') |
