| Jul-02-10 | | whiskeyrebel: Hey pal, I'm playing in the U.S. open in Irvine. The wife and I are having our 33rd anniversary blast and may drop into your pub to really make it special. Are you gonna be around? Long Beach is only 40 minutes or so away isn't it? |

 | | WannaBe: <whiskeyrebel> It would be very very nice to see you again, and meet the Mrs. for the first time! Here is the page with address/phone for the pub.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/rileys-pub-... I also thought of going down to the tournament, and take photos for CG. |

| Jul-08-10 | | Jim Bartle: <El Al> lost the guns?? I thought their security was impenetrable. |
| Jul-08-10 | | hms123: <Jim Bartle> American Airlines lost the guns--which is a nice way of saying that their highly-trained baggage handlers likely stole them. The airline system in the US is totally broken. They now charge extra for checked luggage so that even more luggage can be lost or ransacked. |
| Jul-08-10 | | Jim Bartle: Sorry, misread the article. But how could Israeli security personnel have left guns where baggage handlers could get to them? |
| Jul-08-10 | | hms123: <Jim Bartle> I believe that the whole idea is that the guns HAVE to be checked--as oppposed to being brought in to the cabin. I would bet that some heads are rolling right now as the Feds try to figure out what happened. |
Jul-08-10
 | | WannaBe: <Jim Bartle> U.S. laws, guns have to be checked, not carried on. Then you put big stickers on them, saying they are weapons... Go figure! Intelligence of TSA. |
| Jul-08-10 | | Jim Bartle: And hand over the keys? |
Jul-08-10
 | | WannaBe: <Jim Bartle> Not sure how 'sturdy and safe' the containers that held the weapons. But fairly certain that if someone wants them open, they'll find a way. What is more interesting/telling, is that people at LAX didn't bother checking them (x-ray), or couldn't check them (no key, but still, x-rays could have been used.) If they were attentative to details, and thought about it a little bit more... But hey, government workers, probably just pushing the package along, to keep their boss happy... |

 | | WannaBe: Wow, Celtics signed Jermaine O'Neal away from the Miami Heat! Apparently everyone/team on the East is stocking up their cupboard for the upcoming season. I can just see it now, you will have 3, or 4 teams, from both Eastern and Western Conference that is super-duper good, maybe playing at .800 records wise, and then you have a bunch of wannabes, have beens, that is barely .500 level... Hey! It is almost like college sports, where you have the SEC, Big-10 (soon to be the new Big-12), Pac-10 (soon to be pac-12) and possibly the ACC as major-domo conference, and the current Big-12 (with the loss of Colorado and Nebraska) could be them wannabes/have beens!! |
Jul-16-10
 | | chancho: I think the Celtics (not the Heat) will win it all next year. (if they stay healthy and avoid the injuries.) |
| Jul-16-10 | | zanshin: <you will have 3, or 4 teams, from both Eastern and Western Conference> <Wannabe> I can see this for the East, but not really for the West. The East will have the Heat, Magic, Celtics and maybe the Bulls. In the West, I think the Lakers get a good shot at the finals to play the survivor from the East. But that's a long way time from now, especially with a lockout :-O |
Jul-16-10
 | | WannaBe: And now Boston's got Nate Robinson! The hits just keep on comin'! |
Jul-16-10
 | | chancho: <WannaBe> They came within 6 minutes of winning it all.
If they can get perimeter shooters to compliment their regulars, then it's banner number 18 coming up. There's also a good possibility that Rasheed Wallace might play one more year. :-) |
| Jul-16-10 | | Jim Bartle: I see it looking real tough for the Celts to win next year. Garnett is still a good player, but not the force he was in 2008 when he led them to the title. They did come incredibly close to winning this year. If Ray Allen hadn't for some reason gone into an all-time shooting slump they would have won. |
| Jul-16-10 | | zanshin: Cavalier fans must be sick seeing how LeBron is so active in recruiting for his new team. I'm convinced his decision to go to the Heat was not nearly as tortured as he made it seem. Celtics and Lakers both have proven coaches. I think people are glossing over the fact that the Heat head coach, Erik Spoelstra, is not in their league. He joined the Heat as the video coordinator! Being Filipino-American, like myself, I will naturally be rooting for him to succeed. But he will have his hands full coaching a team of future Hall of Famers. |

 | | WannaBe: <zanshin> There is nothing wrong with working your way up the ladder, even if it's starting out as a water boy! <chancho> too bad that Perkins got hurt and didn't play in game 7, that was huge. (Not that I mind, since I am a Lakers fan. =) |
Jul-16-10
 | | chancho: <WannaBe> I already knew that. Wait until next season.. :-) |
