| Aug-16-10 | | crawfb5: I have you both beat -- I don't have a cell phone at all. All my fancy aps are in my laptop where they belong... |

| Aug-16-10 | | NakoSonorense: I too have a phone that has no camera, no gps, no games, and no web... or is that my remote? |

 | | Phony Benoni: I'd like to see a rotary cell phone. It would give me more time to decide if I really want to make this call or not. Besides, it's easier to recognize the number being dialed by counting clicks rather than recognizing tones. |

 | | WannaBe: Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep -- Sputnik I A.K.A. my 'cell' phone... Seriously, I tried to upgrade my phone, and Verizon said, in order to do so, I need a 'new service plan' because my plan is/was so old, it's grand-grand-grand-grand fathered. (They no longer offer unlimited, no roaming nationwide for 45.99) You have to get their unlimited texting/download/blah blah/blah blah for 50 bucks more a month... Which I declined... I'll live with my Edsel. Plus, my Edsel is a flip phone, which prevents me from 'accidental' dialing, and it reminds me so much of Star Trek, but alas, it does make the funny 'noise' when I flip it open. And whenever I call Scotty, he is too drunk on Scotch to reply! |
|
| Aug-17-10 | | NakoSonorense: Is this your cell phone?
http://www.ecojoes.com/wp-content/u... I am in the middle of a dispute with Verizon. They are trying to charge me ~$10 in insurance that I never approved. Apparently, it is for my phone, but everybody with half a brain knows that insurance for electronic devices is a major rip-off. So, I wrote them a lovely e-mail about how incompetent they are. They keep evading the issue, but they will have to cave in, eventually. |

 | | WannaBe: From: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100817... <Gonder said Gaitan's hands were tied by a federal appeals court ruling that there was no compelling government interest in protecting people from unwanted speech outside their homes. She said the attorney general's office would ask the appeals court to "reconsider the abhorrent acts" church members "routinely inflict upon our servicemen and women."> So, hence, therefore, if I go and burn a cross across the street from someone, it's okay? Because it's 'outside' of their home? What if I should hang a noose from a tree that is not on their property? Or just outside their legally recognized property line? |

 | | WannaBe: Calling Java programmers, calling all java programmers!!!! I have this little 'interesting' problem, in Java 1.6 they added a new class, called Desktop, very powerful, very nice, very few APIs, not like some other classes that have tons of API because of 6 levels of extends... Anyway, here is my problem, I need to print a document first, it can be PDF, DOC, XLS, HTML, using the Desktop.print(File) function. And then I need to print a text file, using the same Desktop.print(File) function. Because the text file is simpler, and notepad reacts faster, it is the first to print. In the mean time, Adobe is still initializing the reader, and the DLLs are still loading, and blah blah blah blah. Next thing you know I got 3 text files from 3 button clicks, while none of the documents that suppose to be printed first have even come out. (This is even worse when the PDFs, Docs, XLSs, are big, huge files!) Any clue/ideas on how I can solve this issue? Much, much, much thanks in advance. |

 | | WannaBe: Sixth paragraph from the bottom:
<The seal does offer consumers certain assurances. While graders don't look at every egg, they try to ensure that no white eggs slip into a carton of brown eggs, no regular-size eggs are classified as extra large, and none of the eggs are cracked. Grade A eggs are perhaps the most familiar to consumers. Grade B eggs can be slightly stained or misshapen, while Grade AA eggs have the smallest air cell inside the egg.> http://finance.yahoo.com/family-hom... Thank goodness that I didn't get a single brown coloured egg in my all white 12-pack carton, and heavens forbid, if I should get an egg that is cracked, meaning, if I should find a single cracked egg in my container, it must the truck driver/shelf stocker/store's fault!! Tea Party, Tea Party, it's time for the next revolution! Tea Party!! (I like Earl Grey, or is it Earl Gray, hot, plain, no sugar, no honey, just straight up!) Thank goodness we have big government watching out for us... Wonder how the bloody freakin' fore-fathers and fore-mothers ever lived long enough to produce this generation. |
