I don't know that the alternative is better, but just that we need clarity on the issue. Btw, I would never forget to come back and vote for you. |
|
Nov-12-11
 | | WannaBe: I think, I agree with <hms123>, I like to nominate two, three games for puns, this way, if someone else sees a pun that is worthy, they'll vote for it. |
|
Nov-12-11
 | | Annie K.: <WannaBe> ok, but I still don't see where you two have a problem... This looks pretty clear and straightforward to me. As long as you remember to come back at voting time and vote, everything is as usual. Any category you vote for will "overwrite" your nominations in that category, just as today if you change your mind during the voting window, your second vote will overwrite the first. Counting nominations as votes will only change things in that the "implied votes" of those who enter nominations, but forget to return for the second stage, won't be lost. That means more valid votes, which is supposed to be a Good Thing? ;) <hms: <Btw, I would never forget to come back and vote for you.>> Thanks, but that only underscores why we (who usually hang around for the whole course of the Caissars) are not the target audience for whom these changes would improve the process. :) |

Nov-14-11
 | | Domdaniel: I'm paying attention, btw. Just don't have much to say yet. <Ohio> said it felt like a *clique*. I suppose 'we' are the usual suspects -- but that's just another way of identifying people who've been around a while, use CG regularly, notice what's going on, and care about the traditions and culture of the site. We may be relatively few in number, but between us we probably can reach a good number of readers. Of course, *they* might all be the same people too ... |
|
Nov-14-11
 | | Domdaniel: Would a "PR person" (or persons) be an idea? They could get on with publicizing the Caissars - explaining the history, the procedure etc for new arrivals - and leave <Wannabe> free to concentrate on the actual votes? |
|
| Nov-14-11 | | hms123: <Dom>
That's essentially the suggestion that I made a few days ago (with credit to <OCF>. Here's <OCF's> post followed by mine: <It's been mentioned before, and is important, that the advertising of the Awards should be much more aggressive/thourough than previous years. Perhaps an indulgence from CG.C for advertising the voting on GOTD, POTD, World Game if it's still going, etc.> <<OCF>> <I think <OCF> has a good idea. Perhaps we could divvy up the work a bit with each of us taking 10 or so users and posting an invitation to vote (or nominate--no position on this issue yet).
The invitation would be uniform and contain the categories, relevant dates and procedures, etc. I find that this kind of approach gets reasonably good results.> <<moi>> |

 | | WannaBe: <OhioChessFan> have recommended last year's Caissar to do it with Pun/Player/Puzzle of the day. (Besides just in the Cafe) I think I did post once, or twice, before my time got busy and I stopped. I would appreciate it, if someone would lend a hand in that department, and once the post scrolls off the page, maybe post another one? Since we are mostly in diff. time-zones, with possible <DomDaniel> or <twinlark> covering the other-half of the world, we should be OK. =) Also, some people don't read the whole page, and possibly may miss it. |
|
Nov-14-11
 | | Domdaniel: Cool. Though I reckon that <twinlark> and I cover the other *nine-tenths* of the world, not just the other half. Geographically, anyhow. In sheer numbers, you guys have the edge. Is it agreed, BTW, that the date should again be in the new year, when the quiz is finito? |
|
Nov-14-11
 | | WannaBe: <Domdaniel> Yes, after the new year would be preferable, Jan 2nd? |
|
| Nov-14-11 | | Travis Bickle: Hey Bugs are you a 49er fan or do you like the R A I D E R Z!! like Chris Berman says it? ; P |
|
Nov-14-11
 | | WannaBe: <Travis Bickle> I'm a <T>raiders fan, I was in LA the same time they were, hence. =) |
|
Nov-14-11
 | | WannaBe: Any other discussion(s) regarding items 1 and 2? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? |
|
Nov-14-11
 | | OhioChessFan: IMO trying to stop self nominations/lobbying/etc is not worth the trouble. |
|
Nov-14-11
 | | WannaBe: Agreed, that portion never troubled/bothered me any. |
|
Nov-15-11
 | | WannaBe: Alright, moving along here, just like the NBA negotiations. =) Item number 3 on our agenda, elimination of categories. Less work for moi(?!) |
|
Nov-15-11
 | | OhioChessFan: Tough luck. Keep all the categories. |

 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: If <Nikolaas> had intended for the Caissars to be serious, he wouldn't have given us those categories in the first place. |
