WannaBe: <harrylime> As others have posted, if member(s) have <YOU> on ignore, there is nothing you or I, or anyone can do much about it. Most likely, 99.999999999% guaranteed, you will not get their vote(s).

If member(s) have <ME> on ignore, they will not see my posts, but they can still post in my forum, and I will see their post(s). And they can see my name being referenced, and they can also see the big banner/ad on the home page announcing Caissar Award.

If I have member(s) on my ignore list (currently, population is 0, there are some that I would like to add to my list, but due to the 'fairness' required, no one is on my list).

Hence, anyone can post in my forum and nominate/vote for anyone else they wish.

Does this answer all your questions in regards to this affair?

Jan-07-12  whiteshark: <FWIW> WannaBe: <...but they can still post in my forum> No Sir, that's not possible. You get the following message: "ERROR: You cannot post to this chessforum. You have WannaBe on your ignore list."

Domdaniel: Anyone who had <WannaBe> on ignore would have missed the *WannaBe Gambit*, a key piece of 21st century opening theory.

Apart from that, anyone putting the Wabbit on Ignore is hitting the wrong buttons.

Anyhow, time to be public-spirited and answer a question. It's from 'Yam Beat' with an address in the Windy City. Hmmm ... Chicago or Baguio, Yam?

<Who is caissar anyway? >

Silly question, as anyone with a titter of wit can do their own googling. But I’m feeling helpful today. First you need to grasp the concept of the neologism, or made-up word. Tracing the roots is easy, if you know a little about chess:

http://www.caissa.com/about/who-is-...

(Anyone who’s uneasy with worshipping a Thracian Dryad can leave now)

or about awards:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academ...

Now the easy bit: Caissa + Oscar = Caissar.

Lewis Carroll, a fine chess puzzler in his day, called this kind of invented word a ‘portmanteau’:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portma...

Will that be all? Or will selected extracts from <Voting for Dummies> need to be posted?

WannaBe: <whiteshark> Thanks for that bit o' info!

Now, how do I get to my ignore list to start adding people...

Jan-07-12  technical draw: Flash from the past!:

<Dec. 27, 2010>

<Once: Heck, can we just give <TD> the funniest kibitzer award and skip all the electioneering? Next he'll be wheeling out a cute puppy dog and the inevitable celebrity endorsement...>

Thanks Once....

jessicafischerqueen: Nominations, these will be "fresh" as in not already nominated

Best Historian <crawfb5> for his groundbreaking work this year and last year in American chess history:

crawfb5's Game Collections

Best avatar <AnnieK>

Most constructive <SwitchingQuylthulg>

Funniest <crawfb5>, for his "will work for scale" alone, and much more.

Most helpful <boomie>

Best analyst <Richard Taylor>

Best profile <brankat>

Most informed <FSR>

Best games collection <crawfb5>

Best avatar <FSR> (that's his real self in his photo now, that's the one I nominate. He looks a bit like McGruff, the Crime Dog, which is pretty impressive if you think about it).

Jan-07-12  LaFreak III: can i nominate myself for all categories?

FSR: Hmm, somehow no one's ever compared my visage to that of McGruff the Crime Dog before. http://www.google.com/search?q=mcgr... I <guess> I'll take that as a compliment. Does that make me the "law and order" candidate?

WannaBe: McGruff does not have mustache...
Jan-08-12  matebay: <Domdaniel: Anyhow, time to be public-spirited and answer a question. It's from 'Yam Beat' with an address in the Windy City. Hmmm ... Chicago or Baguio, Yam?>

You've been to Baguio?http://www.google.com.ph/search?tbm...

Jan-08-12  matebay: http://www.traveltothephilippines.i...

Nice view...yeah?

Jan-08-12  harrylime: <WannaBe> Yeah thanks for the reply.. I was'nt 100 percent serious really.. more tongue in cheek although I still think the 'ignore' option is kinda self defeating and anti democratic !

But yes it's been put to bed ..

Jan-08-12  matebay: <nanobrain: With this intellectual arrogance that he had exhibited shamelessly here, he should at least split his funniest kibitzer award into two categories:

1. funniest kibitzer high-class, highbrow humor category; and

2. funniest kibitzer award, low-class, lowbrow category (for Asians and those in third-world countries).

I'll be honored to win in the second category.>

I hereby nominate <nanobrain> as funniest kibitzer in the second class category.

tpstar: Wow, the Barangay Wesley will do everything they can to disrupt the site awards.

<WannaBe> Please find me on QueenAlice which has private messaging. We must address this sockpuppet problem.

Jan-08-12  nanobrain: I humbly accept the nomination for the funniest kibitzer award, low-class, lowbrow category.
Jan-08-12  MORPHYEUS: I'll accept the no-class, no-brow nomination. :)
Jan-08-12  Once: <WannaBe> Are you okay? Let me know if I can help.
Jan-08-12  hms123: <WannaBe> < Are you okay? Let me know if I can help.> Same here.

btw, a liberal use of the delete button (without comment) can work wonders.

Jan-08-12  technical draw: <Once: <WannaBe> Are you okay? Let me know if I can help.>

That doesn't work. You still have to get the votes. I already tried it.
