Jan-06-12  wordfunph: <WannaBe>

<Phony Benoni> nominated <Graham Clayton> as Best Historian.

Jan-06-12  harrylime: You could always ask certain voters how many 'ignore' options they operate ?

Otherwise your poll is skewered.

Jan-07-12  Once: <harrylime> I thought we agreed to drop that one?

Right now we are collecting nominations. Anyone can nominate anyone. All the nominations are visible because <WannaBe> lists them frequently. So nothing can be skewed by the ignore function. You can still nominate whoever you want and the same goes for everyone else.

Next we get into the voting phase. <WannaBe> will remind everyone who has been nominated for each category. So again there is no real skewing (or even skewering!) caused by the ignore function. Everyone will be able to see who has been nominated and will be able to vote for anyone.

How could ignore possibly cause a problem? I suppose if someone had <WannaBe> on ignore they might not be able to take part. But there's probably not a great deal we can do about that.

What else? You could say that the voting might not be fair because if you have someone on ignore you won't know what brilliant work they have been doing all year. But the chances of voting for someone you have decided to put on ignore seem remarkably slim.

You would be saying: "I really don't like to see your posts, so I'm going to put you on ignore, but here's an award anyway."

As I said, best to let it go. This is a harmless piece of fun. Let's keep it that way, hmmm?
