WannaBe: Constructive can be defined as done something that is beneficial to CG.com and its community, e.g. the creation of CG.com team on GameKnot was nominated.

WannaBe: So, if you create a CG.com Softball Beer League Team, that would be 'constructive'... (CGSBLT)
Jan-12-12  technical draw: I now create the CG.com Softball Beer League Team. For now though we can forget about the softball, the league and the team.

;)

Jan-12-12  morfishine: <Wannabe> I hope its all right to post my Friday vote a little early (Thursday Evening)

<Best Informed>: My vote here goes to <DomDaniel> His breadth of knowledge, along with his pure objectivity in discussion, has my vote

<Most Helpful>: My vote here goes to <LifeMasterAJ> without question. On pure chess matters, which is what we are here for, right?, <LM> has demonstrated a willingness to help, guide and assist those players who actively seek real improvement in their chess skills. Too often, higher-rated players may "snub" those seeking improvement.

Not so with <AJ>

Jan-12-12  technical draw: I'm calling my team the Budweiser United. Or some may prefer Weeds United.

WannaBe: <WinKing: ... I don't know how you keep all this stuff straight <WannaBe>.>

1. erasers.
2. two bottles of Glenlivit
3. 3 cases of Smirnoff

Jan-12-12  WinKing: I can relate to that <WannaBe>. :)
Jan-12-12  frogbert: <To me it's one who does things that are helpful to other members.>

<Constructive can be defined as done something that is beneficial to CG.com and its community>

and in which way does this differ significantly from being "helpful"?

similarly, if your bio is filled with good historical material - or lots of practical information, links, etc. - then you might be nominated and win a caissar for 1) best bio <and> 2) best historian/most constructive/most helpful - or maybe 1) best bio, 2) most constructive and 3) most helpful for effectively one and the same "effort".

seems like the categories are in need of a little sharpening and mutual exclusiveness - plus some "official", guiding definitions from the "caissar committee" provided before nominations commence.

Jan-12-12  WinKing: I've always wondered about that too <frogbert>. My take, for what it's worth, has always been that helpful relates more to helping individual members & constructive may be ideas you come up with to help the community in general. They are closely related but different IMO.
Jan-12-12  TheFocus: Maybe a committee should discuss any changes for next year.
Jan-12-12  frogbert: of course any changes can't/won't apply until next year. this edition is what it is.
Jan-12-12  crawfb5: As wannabe, OCF, hms, Annie, Domdaniel and others could tell you, there <was> discussion prior to this year's awards about what changes, if any, should be made. Once voting starts, if changes are suggested or new categories are proposed or whatnot, well that ship has already sailed for this year.

What is the starting time of Tata. What did Anand have for breakfast, what class is W. So taking at school... (More of a modern thing...)

I can't view Deluxe Chess Viewer II, my browser can't do this, how do I download pgns from Cg.com

2. Constructive, opposite of destructive, getting a CG.com team together on GameKnot, spending time and getting a wiki page for CG. Putting together the History World Championship matches & the split, and the unification and its games.

I believe the members who did that, received a special Caissar Award for their time spent, and non-paid work, and enhanced this site.

Anybody want to put together a Women World Chess Championship timeline?

3. Historian, e.g. This game between WannaBe and technical draw occurred in 1992, not 1991 as noted, or bad PGN, or <SBC>, <jessicafisherqueen> or <Benzol>, and others have contributed historically.

4. Profile, if you wish to 'advertise' your links on youtube, linkin, facebook, myspace, groupon, and people find it 'Best', so be it.

WannaBe: I posted a call for committee to discuss matter, I posted it in my profile and on Kibitz'r cafe.

The process can always be refined, if things are not clear, I will be more than happy to explain them.

The categories for Caissar was announced at the beginning of the year, <Domdaniel> did a great job helping advertising it.

The categories are then posted on Kibitz'r cafe, daily puzzle, and Pun of the day, advertised on the site. (This was before CG.com posted that big sign on the home page.)

Advertisement began a week, before nominations began, and nomination lasted a whole week.

That, is 2 weeks, 14 days... We, did have a 'meeting', committee, issues were brought up, discussed, and from what my understanding of the posts, nothing truly conclusive came of it.

Mob voting was expected to be a one-time thing, shortening of categories was not in favour, change of two-step process to straight voting was voiced against.

I offered the committee to vote upon the matters, that got no where... The whole thing can be read, on <Annie K.>, <jessicafischerqueen>, <Domdaniel>, and my forum, early/mid January 2011 and the call to committee was August/Sept(?) 2011. Possibly as early as July.

WannaBe: Personal log, Stardate 2012, January, 12th.

Approx. 24 min. left in voting, no change(s) since my check-point post. USS Wabbit is enroute to Outpost 153423 in the Beta quadrant, Spock is being Spock, Chekov is speaking in a language that I can't understand, and Bones is...

End personal log.
