| Feb-13-06 | | RonB52734: I take it that everyone who cares to vote has voted for Bf8. |
| Feb-13-06 | | Robin01: <RonB52734> I believe you are correct. It looks like 33...Bf8 wins. |

 | | WannaBe: <Averageguy> Left a post on your forum. =) |
| Feb-13-06 | | Robin01: It will be interesting to see what white will play here. |
| Feb-13-06 | | Robin01: Are we a team of four now? |
Feb-13-06
 | | WannaBe: <Robin01> That's the way it looks right now. |
| Feb-13-06 | | Robin01: Looks like a quiet night. Time to sleep. |
Feb-13-06
 | | WannaBe: <Robin01> Don't let the bed bugs byte! =) |
| Feb-14-06 | | Robin01: Well, it's quiet and I'm off to work. Will probably not be back on until this evening. We must have them worried now since they are taking so long to reply. |
| Feb-14-06 | | RonB52734: I would say they are likely to put the Q on e1, e3 or e5 to pin and threaten the bishop. If so, then ...Kd7 (or ...Kf7). This defends the bishop and breaks the pin, and avoids an immediate check that would result from ...Ke7 Nd5+. Another possibility is Qf3, and here they are not so much looking at Qc6+ (because we have Bd7) but Qb7. If our Rook has abandoned the a file, we may have trouble defending the a and b pawns. So on Qf3, we don't want ...Rc8 (because then our Bishop can't get to c8 if needed to defend a6) but maybe ...Ra7. |
| Feb-14-06 | | sitzkrieg: You are right, they put the queen on e3.
I was wondering if we maybe should recruit a fith player again? (keane, schiller e.g.) 4 against 5 is of course, if we lo(o?)se, always a good excuse to have. |

Feb-14-06
 | | WannaBe: Don't know where that white king is going, do they plan to start pushing those pawns soon or not? Kf7 offers the chance to go Kg8 and duck behind the pawns, and free our pieces to move around the board. With the knight on c3, are they going to move the king toward that side of the board? Definitely a lot of possibilities and unclear. |
| Feb-14-06 | | RonB52734: I guess the problem with ...Kf7 is still Qf3+, picking up our Rook. |
| Feb-14-06 | | RonB52734: So I say ...Kd7 |
Feb-14-06
 | | WannaBe: Yeah, Yeah, have to protect that bishop out there. And can't do that with moving the rook. Looks like our choices are somewhat limited here... I'll have to agree with <RonB52734>. |
| Feb-14-06 | | sitzkrieg: i meant 2 against 4 and fourth:P in my last post |
| Feb-14-06 | | Robin01: <So I say ...Kd7> I agree. We have to play 34...Kd7. |
| Feb-14-06 | | Robin01: Well, I've been watching the Olympics all night. They were pretty good today. Talk to everybody tomorrow. |
Feb-14-06
 | | WannaBe: <Robin01> Olympics :-) I'm watching Westminster Doggies!! |
| Feb-15-06 | | RonB52734: Ok, we have <Robin01>, <WannaBe> and <me> voting for Kd7; <sitzkrieg> has not voted, perhaps because he is out recruiting a GM to join our team. On that point, I might suggest User: Susan Polgar or User: Yelena Dembo? |
| Feb-15-06 | | Cogano: Nothing wrong with ambition, eh <RonB52734>? After all, hope does spring eternal! Good luck on the game! Cheers mate! :) |
| Feb-15-06 | | Cogano: Hello again <WannaBe> & I sincerely hope this finds you well. I hate to trouble you with what I'm sure you'll find to be another mundane enquiry. Would you be good enough to tell me who
are the kibitzers involved in your current game? I already know that you, the ever so lovely <Robin01>, & the ever eloquent <RonB52734> are part of the same team. I'm pretty sure, but not
completely, that <sitzkrieg> is part of
the same team. But I don't know anything about the other team. & not to
be arrogant here, but I'd be honoured to join your team, if you'd have me of course! Take very good care all & have a great day. Cheers to all! :) P.S. If you do decide to include me, would the fact that I just posted my opinion of the game's current position on <who>'s forum disqualify me from joining? If not, then I'd rather you decide to include me BEFORE you play your immediate next move! Thank you ever most kindly for your anticipated patience, tolerance, understanding and consideration. Once again, take very good care all & have a great day. Cheers to all! :) |
| Feb-15-06 | | RonB52734: <cogano>: The teams are listed in User: me to play's profile. With regard to your kind offer to join our team, let me, as the captain of this boat, say the following, i.e., that which is next after this sentence, to-wit, what I am about to say: Our next move is due in roughly 2.5 hours from now. I very much doubt that we could get a vote from both teams in that time to substitute you as a player, and it has been customary during the game for both teams to approve a substitution. Also, I feel that we owe it to our good teammate, <Nako Sonorense>, to ask him his intentions (i.e., either to marry us or to set us free). :) It may also be worth adding that it may be problematic at this late hour to bring on a new teammate who has even read kibitzing about this game, or looked at computer analysis and the like. (I don't know whether you have or not, but this is an issue that would have to be addressed). Finally, we would need to know what would happen if you were kidnapped by a house full of UCLA co-eds. Would you still want to play chess? Thus, I would say, thank you for your offer, but I don't think it will be possible for us to take advantage of it under the current circumstances. |
