WannaBe: Stanford U. is raising the cost of higher education:

<STANFORD -- Stanford University will hike its tuition this fall by 3.5 percent, bringing it to $45,729, the campus announced Wednesday.

The new fees will raise the undergraduate tab to $60,427 for next year, a total that includes $14,107 for room and board and $591 for a mandatory health fee.

Stanford noted in the announcement that more than half of its students receive need-based or athletic scholarships from the university.

Under an undergraduate financial aid program established in 2008, those with family incomes under $100,000 pay no tuition, and those with incomes under $60,000 pay no tuition, room or board. Students are, however, expected to contribute $5,000 each year with earnings from summer or campus jobs.

In 2012-13, the average charge a Stanford student paid after subtracting university, state and federal grants was roughly $30,928 -- lower than it was nine years earlier, after adjusting for inflation -- the university reported.>

I think what gets me is the mandatory health fee, what if your parents have you covered through their health insurance policy? Or find it cheaper by ObamaCare?

Is this fee "Forced" on you?

Feb-11-15  Jim Bartle: When I entered Stanford in 1968, yearly tuition was $1920.

  WannaBe: UCLA (15-10, 7-5 Pac-12) have 6 games left, v. Ore, @ASU, @Ariz, v. Was, v. WSU, v. USC

I can see them losing the 2 Ariz games, and finish with 19-12, 11-7 Pac-12.

If they can win two or three games at the Pac-12 tournament, will they squeeze in to NCAA? Or will this be NIT year? Hmmmmmm....

  WannaBe: <Mating Net> Great!!

Saturday, 7AM departure, arrived at UCLA 1:30, (Hofstra-Ucla) baseball at 2PM, left early, got to friends house, had dinner, went to Long Beach, got there about 8PM, went to the pub, drank until 11.

Sunday, had brunch with Mom + sister, (U. Michigan-Cal State Long Beach) baseball at 1PM, got back to the pub at 5PM, drank until 8:30, got some pizza, watched 40th anniv. of Saturday Night Live, sleep.

Monday, woke up at 7AM, met a friend for breakfast at 8AM. Left Long Beach at 9AM, got to Pasadena, saw my CPA, left at 10AM, got text at 11:45 that email and whole network was down.

Got to San Mateo/work at 4PM, and got the problem solved by 5:30, drank some beer, and found out it wasn't completely fixed, now back at work (with a beer) and waiting to see if the problem comes back.

Feb-18-15  playground player: <WannaBe> Esteemed colleague <JFQ> recommended I consult you.

As you know, I'm a real chump when it comes to computer stuff. Nevertheless, I've been trying to learn how to cut and paste, so as to liven up my blog.

Following her instructions, I learned how to transfer a long link from one page to another, instead of copying it out by hand, and then was able to pick up a short video and post it on my blog.

But that method didn't work when I tried to post a still photo. You can see the results on my home page, http://leeduigon.com/

Anyhow, for the sake of human progress, can you tell me how to pick up a still photo from one page of the Internet and transfer it to my blog page.

The instruction given on my computer doesn't work, because on the blog page where I must first write the new post, there is no "Edit" option or anything else that seems useful.

I shall be much obliged for your advice.
