heh Fair enough. Sure I will root for Uruguay today.

Fusilli: The second French goal was Uruguayan bad luck. I feel bad for the Uruguayan goalie.
Jul-06-18  thegoodanarchist: As I said, 8 days ago, France looks very good.

< thegoodanarchist: ...

But I think the Frenchies will take it this year. I don't want them to, but they look like the best so far.>

WannaBe chessforum (kibitz #16294)

It was apparent in group play that the Frenchies are a formidable team.

WannaBe: In other news, espn.com seem to be broken. Main page still show 73 minutes, with Belgium leading Brazil.
Jul-06-18  morfishine: Goose eggs for me today, my fortune lies with Croatia & England, they both must win after today's debacle! lol
Jul-06-18  thegoodanarchist: My Belgians did it! They withstood the assault! Go Belgium! Win it all!
Jul-07-18  technical draw: Man, I'm glad I didn't make any bets. I gave England no chance of advancing even in the group stage. Excuse me while I remove the egg from my face.
Jul-07-18  technical draw: <I have England going all the way to the finals. >

Great prediction by the penguin.

Thanks <TD>. I gotta keep an eye on <valiant>. I think among knockout only games, he's in the lead. He predicted 7/8 R16 and all 3 QF games correctly so far. (but in both cases, that team beats England in the finals)

(the difference is that he got the Belgium-Brazil result correct; I didn't)

He does have Belgium beating France in the semi-finals en route to the Cup, while having France doing that.

<NakoSonorense> and <TheAlchemist> are also still very much inn it.
Jul-07-18  Dr Winston OBoogie: Ahem! Now are you gonna believe us, are you gonna believe us are you gonna believe us... We're going to win the Cup! #ENGERLAND!!!

Jul-07-18  Dr Winston OBoogie: Just saying....

<DWOB: Those #3lions on our shirts are there for a reason. We're the best team right now, maybe Brazil and France could say otherwise, but we ain't scared. <Colombia in the 2nd round, Sweden in the quarter finals, Croatia in the semis.>

It's like I predicted it..

<Count Wedgemore: <Dr Winston OBoogie: We'll beat Sweden I'm absolutely positive of that,> Seems like there is a long tradition in England of underestimating Scandinavian teams. They're always convinced they'll win>

Read that, Wedgie. I'm a genius lol :)

Penguincw: Nice to see Vegas is on my side here. And I thought I had just a 1 in 8 chance of winning.

But in fairness, Vegas has been wrong before.

WannaBe chessforum (kibitz #16352)

If it were based on that, the SF would be France-Brazil and Spain-England, with Brazil beating Spain in the finals.

Even the favourites there (in order) are Belgium > England > France > Croatia.
