WannaBe: Observed something weird. Using W11, Chrome Version 141.0.7390.108 (Official Build) (64-bit) the divide line between kibitz'n are some normal thin-ness, while others are randomly a bit thicker. Not a big deal, just want to comment on this. (both regular mode and incog mode)

WannaBe: Be (very) interesting if Trump manages to end Ukraine war too. And/or bring some calm between Iran/Israel. Teddy Rooselvelt won the Peace Prize for the Russo-Japanese War. And Obama won the prize for ending?? The Peace Prize have always the more political, like when Y. Arafat shared

Nov-07-22  diceman: <technical draw:

That's the life of a gambler. Money means nothing. Betting is everything.>

I'll bet $1,000,000 that's not true!

(I'll also bet $800,000, it is!)

Nov-07-22  technical draw: <diceman> <I'll bet $1,000,000 that's not true!

That's called hedging. And it's a quick way to the poorhouse.

WannaBe: <TD> It all depends on when someone decides to hedge. I've done it many a times to guarantee a net positive money.
Nov-08-22  technical draw: <It all depends on when someone decides to hedge.>

It also depends on how disparate the odds are. In gambling the odds are easy to calculate but in business there are too many variables.

This is an aptly named site:https://www.zerohedge.com/

Nov-09-22  NakoSonorense: <td>, I thought he had bet $10M, not $500k. Either way, winning $75M is ridiculous!

By the way, hola amigo.

Nov-10-22  technical draw: <NakoSonorense> < Either way, winning $75M is ridiculous!>

But not as ridiculous as the guy who won $2 billion in the Powerball lottery.

Saludos, <Nako>.

WannaBe: This is for the fan(s) of Jim Croce's son. (Yes, I do his father's songs at Karaoke... and trust me, you don't want to hear me) Very sad story about the son... Just a heads up.

WannaBe: I follow/subscribe quite a few finance channel on YouTube and quite a few of the content creator are coming out on FTX.

Because at one time or another they had one show/episode or multiple sponsored by FTX.

Ever since I did study/read up on Crypto, I did not like it. I also know <technical draw> have commented how he did not understand Crypto.

(Maybe he was joking, half-joking, or playing stupid) And I tried to teach him what I know.

Canada's Ontario Teacher Pension Plan have announced they have something like $93M invested in FTX... And <POOF> it's gone.

Nov-12-22  technical draw: Not joking <WannaBe> I don't understand crypto currency. The whole "mining" of crypto and the massive computer banks needed to produce crypto makes me think that money is made out of thin air. Just give me the good old fashioned greenbacks.

WannaBe: This is freakin' incredible... Glasses from coffee ground, in Ukraine!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-i...

<technical draw> Yep... That is why when people learn/know I do computers and understand finance, the first thing they ask me is Crypto.

And my opinion is still, avoid it like the plague.

Actually played a few of them.

Nov-13-22  diceman: <technical draw:

money is made out of thin air.>

Usually, the <mountain> of paper and ink are required.

Nov-13-22  technical draw: This is one reason I don't like crypto:

https://www.calcalistech.com/ctechn...

Nov-14-22  diceman: <Troubled crypto boss Sam Bankman-Fried, who lost $15B in a week, funneled millions to Dems, far-left causes>

<Bankman-Fried, now estimated to have no material wealth, recently emerged as one of Democrats' largest financial backers>

<estimated to have no material wealth>

Life seems fair!

<lost $15B in a week>

Missed the Forbes List by that much!

Nov-14-22  technical draw: Bankman-Fried? That sounds ominous.

WannaBe: Starting at 1:20 and you can literally hear paper being shuffled, but it's the second, fourth, sixth chair turning the music sheet over.

With modern technology, this will no longer be an issue, but the 2nd, 4th, and 6th chair will still have to make sure the music stand is properly charged and connected to the USB.

I'm not the only one:

WannaBe: Interesting time we are in, War in Eastern Europe, Therano's Elizabeth Holmes got sentenced to jail (probably will appeal), Twitter and mass resignation, FTX fiasco, and all the dominos in Crypto.

BlockFi will most likely file for bankruptcy, Winklevoss twins have frozen withdraw on their exchange:

WannaBe: Personal log, star date 493.31.31.43.1 This FTX saga with 2 countries US/Bahama over the Crypto "transfer" and jurisdiction maybe; if not <WILL> be more interesting and deeper than Theranos' saga.

And oh boy, I was following Theranos when it was still a "legit" start-up before NYT exposed all of it and waaaaaaaaaay before Hollywood started doing "Documentaries" on her.

Don't believe me, search my previous post(s) on Theranos.

Nov-19-22  technical draw: <WannaBe> I just read that Elizabeth Holmes was sentenced to 11 years in prison. One reason the prosecutors asked for more jail time was because Holmes claimed that "beautiful people like me don't go to jail." Yikes! She hasn't learned her lesson yet. (of course she will appeal and since she is pregnant they won't send her to prison right away.)
