Mar-06-06  RonB52734: <after Ba7check, we maybe can try moving the king to our pawns?> If we're going to stop checking them after ...Ba7+, we can't leave our B on a7.

Since we're you-nanny-mouse again, I'm going to post.

Mar-06-06  RonB52734: Position after 47...Re7+

WannaBe: Let's see if white wants to play 3-peat.
Mar-06-06  RonB52734: That's right, this is the second occurence of this position, isn't it?
Mar-06-06  RonB52734: Oops, no it's not, as can be seen here:

40.Ke2 Re8+ 41.Kd3 Re7 42.Qc3+ Kd8 43.a5 Bb8
44.Qc6 Rd7+ 45.Ke4 Re7+ 46.Kf3 Rf7+ 47.Ke2

Mar-06-06  Cogano: Either they go to c-file & lose their Queen,

Or go to g1 or h1 (their ideal squares! If they go to g1 that's even better: we check with the bishop then we can try moving the rook to c7 so as to allow the King to move Queenside to capture their a-pawn!),

or they repeat the position to yield a draw. Going to g1 or h1 will still yield a draw, or maybe even a loss for them. The only difference is that it will prolong the road to a draw! Take very good care all & have a great day. Cheers mates! :)

Mar-06-06  Cogano: <Ron> If we do check with the bishop from a7, we can leave it there IF we move the rook to c7. That way, Qa8+ can be answered by Ke7 while keeping the rook & bishop in contact! & with the rook on c7, bishop on a7, King on d8 & pawns on g7 & h6, we cut off our 2 back-most ranks to them!
Mar-06-06  sitzkrieg: <I keep one in the office, when I feel a little silly, I wear it. (but not often)>

Very wise..:)

Mar-06-06  Robin01: I see the white team is complaining about our checks. If they do not like them, maybe they should offer us a draw.
Mar-06-06  RonB52734: I agree

Mar-06-06  Isolani: Thanks for dropping by my crib last week. I dig your avatar by the way. Growing up I loved watching Looney Tunes, a great source for violent cartoonish humor.

WannaBe: Ditto. <RonB52734> probably want 3 votes, so he can post it earlier than the 8 AM deadline. =)
Mar-07-06  RonB52734: <Cogano> seems to have already indicated that Rf7+ would be his move here. <Robin01> has never commented directly on it. I would like to get the move in sooner rather than later, so that we move things along when things are obvious.
Mar-07-06  Robin01: 48...Rf7+ looks good. I'll vote for that.
Mar-07-06  RonB52734: <WannaBe> I see you're registered for the LV tournament. I'm seriously considering going, too. Any chance you'll bring an entourage of UCLA co-eds with ya?

WannaBe: <RonB52734> I've been out of the UCLA 'loop' for so long now, doubtful I'll round up any co-eds...

Just some random thoughts... I got a 2 bed room @ Riviera, where the tournament is being held. <DrDum> is currently a (strong?) maybe. If <DrDum> doesn't go, you're more than welcome to share the room. I know we both smoke so that wouldn't bother each other! =)

But that would require advanced knowledges... =( Complications, complications...

Mar-07-06  Robin01: 49.Kg1, Ba7+
50.Kh2, Rc7 (The king is out of the picture, so we hit the queen) 51.Qa8+, Ke7
52.Qe4+, Kd6 (and we bring up our king)

Just one line of many. To make any progress, white may have to think about starting to advance the king side pawns. I still think we can hold this with good and careful play.

Mar-07-06  Robin01: What tournament in LV are we talking about?
