WannaBe: Lookin' at NYJ's game schedule, something unusual stood out. They just lost to DEN 13-11, a coupla weeks ago, they lost TB 29-27, and they started the season by losing to PIT 34-32 One doth wonder of the remaining 11 games, how many more times NYJ will lose by 2 pts (or by a ...

WannaBe: Went to "Planes of Fame" in Chino yesterday, below is my photo dump (meaning, no clean-up, removal of fuzzy/spotty pictures, just copied/pasted my camera's storage card on Google Photo Album)

And I got to get inside of B-17 "Kismet" (Photos towards the bottom of the page/link) bonk'd me head twice while inside, standing up straight in there is definitely not recommended.

WannaBe: <SFoD> Fo'Sur' look like B-17, the one museum have is model 'G', not sure what was used in the movie.

If you zoom in (and is able to read the description), that museum one never fought in the war, came off the assembly line too late. It was built in Long Beach, CA where I pretty much grew up meself.

Quick trivia: Spitfire underwent 23 different modifications, so the last one was model 24. =))

Nov-12-23  stone free or die: While I most associate Boeing with Washington state, I see they still have facilities in Long Beach, despite some recent transfers (or buyouts).

WannaBe: So, today I found out why it's called Six Flags (the amusement park)...

The very first one, was in Texas, and the (current) state have had six different flags:

Spanish
French
Mexico
Texas - Independent Country
Confederate - US Civil War
USA

So the next time you are at a Six Flags amusement park, you can explain the name.

Jan-11-24  technical draw: <WannaBe> About Moravec's paradox. First off I'm not well versed in AI so I have difficulty trying to assess if MP is in effect a paradox. It doesn't seem to have the classical characteristics of a paradox (linguistic or mathematical). Also this statement is suspect: <contrary to traditional assumptions, reasoning requires very little computation> Who says? If you start out saying that reasoning requires very little computation then no further analysis is necessary since you have already reached a conclusion.

Also: <Similarly, Minsky emphasized that the most difficult human skills to reverse engineer are those that are below the level of conscious awareness.> Again this Minsky guy has made a statement that already has a conclusion. So where is the paradox?

I read the article up and down and sideways and it sounded like that old cigarette commercial that said "the smoke travels, over, under, and through the tobacco". Um, like where else is it going to go?

I think this so called paradox is just belaboring the obvious and since I'm not into AI I'll give it a pass. Thanks for leading me to it anyway. Cheers.
