Mar-10-06  Robin01: Just got in. Late night. It is hard to plan too much right now. We will have to wait and see what white does. White can check us but I see no good in this for white. If white wants to play for a win here, white is going to have to start advancing his king side pawns I believe. So we will sort of have to wait and see what white cooks up.
Mar-10-06  Cogano: Hello again <Robin01> & I sincerely hope this finds you well. Right you are! We can speculate all we want. Sure, that'll help when they make their move & we have to make ours -- at least I hope it will. But, until they make that move, we can't be sure what's best for us. Thanks again for sharing that pearl of wisdom with us. Take very good care & have a great night. Fare thee well melady! :)

WannaBe: <Robin01> I agree, go and have some beer + pretz. =)

Catch you all on the flip side!

Mar-10-06  you vs yourself: <WannaBe> I hope you save our game; so we can analyze it some time later(you know when that later is). It contains a lot of interesting tactical and positional ideas. You played very well and I feel like a thief to win that game.
Mar-10-06  you vs yourself: I played it out by playing Rc1 instead of castling and it looked like a draw. Who would've thought castling would be bad?!
Mar-10-06  RonB52734: <They have both their pawns & their Queen versus our lone h-pawn>

I'm missing something here.

Mar-10-06  Cogano: Hello again <Ron> & I sincerely hope this finds you well. First, sorry but I only got online. Not only did I have connectivitiy problems, but once I regained connection I had a nightmare of a problem opening the site. Anyway, I only meant that since our King is on the Queenside, & so are our bishop & rook, & since those latter pieces are on the edge, I didn't think we'd get to the Kingside in time. & so when they advance, they'll have the Q near g5, the h-pawn on h4 & the g-pawn on g5. Notice also that you keep pointing out that even then, all they have is hxg5. NO! They always have Qxg5 (perhaps with check if our King is still on the 5th rank!)!

If they do play hxg5, then I grant you that we could draw or even win:

50.Kh2 Rc7, 51.Qa8+ Ke7, 52.Qe4+ Kd6, 53.Qg6+ Kd5, 54.h4 Bd4, 55.g4 Kc4, 56.g5 hxg5, 57.hxg5 Ra7, 58.Qf5 Bc5, 59.Qg6 Bd4, 60.Qf5 Bc5 (If Kb4, then Qd3) & we draw, as we don't have anything better that I can see. They could try 60.Qc7+ Kb5 & we capture the pawn with the King. I'll be gone for a little while. But I'll check back soon. As always, thank you most kindly for your anticipated & continued patience, tolerance, understanding, consideration & assistance. Take very good care & have a great day & a great weekend too. Cheers mate! :)

Mar-10-06  RonB52734: As I said, there's nothing scary about pawn to g5. ...hxg5
Mar-10-06  Cogano: Hi again <Ron> & I sincerely hope this finds you well. If you'll forgive my troubling you further, in your opinion, which do you think they're likelier to play: hxg5 or Qxg5? & which do you think is the better move, if you were White? Thanks much. Take very good care & have a great day. Cheers mate! :)
Mar-10-06  RonB52734: Well, it depends very much on the position of the other men on the board. There may be some hope for them of keeping the rook's pawn that queens in the dark-squared corner, because in such a circumstance, our K may have to go to h8 and our B cannot get close enough to h8 to be protected by the K.
Mar-10-06  Cogano: Thanks much for that <Ron> & I apologize again to trouble you about it, especially since it's just fretting & anxiety, since in essence I'm putting the cart before the horse, as they have yet to move! Thanks much again. Take very good care & have a great day. Cheers mate! :)
Mar-10-06  aw1988: Cogano: You're an extremely polite person.
Mar-10-06  Cogano: Hello again <aw1988> & I sincerely hope this finds you well. Thank you most kindly for your most kind & gracious words. :) Though I'm sure I'm not that deserving of your more than generous compliment, as there are likely those who are so much more polite than I am, they'd make me look relatively rude by comparison. :) Thank you again for your compliment. :) Take very good care & have a great day (or night, if that's the time for you now!) & a great weekend too. Cheers mate! :)

WannaBe: <you vs yourself> About saving the game, don't worry about that. I can always go back and re-analyze my last game. I have not played another one on FICS since I logged off.

There are a few things I want to tell you, but I'll do it on FICS next time I catch you.

WannaBe: <you vs yourself> Why do you feel like a thief? I made a bad B+ when I should have play Ke5 instead! That's blunder. (The are all over the board, just waiting for ME!! =)
Mar-10-06  you vs yourself: I didn't feel like I actually won, even if the scoreboard says otherwise. You outplayed me the whole game.

WannaBe: <you vs yourself> I just know how to push pieces... And every now and then even a blind squirrel finds a nut. =)

Doing anything tonight or tomorrow?

Mar-10-06  you vs yourself: I have time for a game or two tonight.

WannaBe: <you vs yourself> Say oh... around 8ish pacific time? That'd be 10ish your time. If not, I'm free all day tomorrow.
Mar-10-06  RonB52734: Still quiet. Their move isn't due until tonight. At this point (3:39 p.m. EST), every minute that ticks by without a white move increases the possibility that I will be able to participate in voting tomorrow afternoon. I expect to be back to my hotel "on the outside" by 4 tomorrow. But don't wait for me. My schedule could turn out to be fairly unpredictable. I give <Robin01> my proxy to vote for me. I think our lines have been similar. Our pieces need to stay in a tight grouping -- forcing their Queen to be a close-in-fighter and not a long-range missile. And as always, <WannaBe> is of course Deppity Captain!
Mar-10-06  Cogano: Ok <Ron>. Good luck & see you then. Take care mate! :)

Mar-10-06  Cogano: <WannaBe> ROFLOL! That is just so hillarious! :) Thanks much for that <WannaBe>. :) It sure brightened my day. :) Take very good care & have a great day & a great weekend too! Cheers mate! :)
