| Mar-25-06 | | mandar: <WannaBe>I think u submitted our score to <Chessclassics>But u have not resigned on queenalice.com,do u have some special reason for it? |
| Mar-25-06 | | EmperorAtahualpa: <<WannaBe> Is gameknot similar to queenalice? Or more like Yahoo?> <Robin01> I can answer that question. It is more like QueenAlice! |
| Mar-26-06 | | blingice: Why the draw? |
Mar-27-06
 | | WannaBe: <blingice> I saw a drawn position... So I offered. :-) |
| Mar-28-06 | | blingice: Ah...
Kind of a Leko draw. I feel as if we've committed a chesstrocity. |
| Mar-28-06 | | percyblakeney: <FICS> For the next update of User: FICS, I sometimes play blitz on the site as MaxHarmonist. |
| Mar-28-06 | | who: <wannabe> I can type tell <whomever> blah, but how do you know if any CGers are on? |
Mar-28-06
 | | WannaBe: <who> The following information is based on BabasChess interface. I still don't know what you're using... What I recommend to do, is view the names on User: FICS In the same window that you type 'tell' you can type this: +not name_goes_here and then in the 'Friend' (upper right hand corner) tab is the window that shows you who is on. I have all the names in my notification. By the way, last night, while we 'chat'ed did the words appear in a separate window? Or did they appear in the main console? I believe if you are using BabasChess, the default layout is chess board on left, very bottom is the main console (this is where you usually typed tell, and +not). Upper right is the 'sought graph', 'sought list', and 'players' and 'friends' tab window. Right hand middle is where I put my chat and channel window. |

| Mar-28-06 | | Cogano: Hello again <WannaBe> & I sincerely hope this finds you well. Sorry to bother you but there's something I thought you
should know. Ever since I started this game I've felt panicked to make my move
when it was my turn, even though I had plenty of time to make it. This is probably because of my chronic anxiety.
So at most I've taken a few minutes to consider any given move or position. I thought you should know just so you don't think to yourself "considering how he played in the consult game & how
he's been playing like an idiot here, he surely was using something like Fritz in the consult game." I swear I've never had access to such a thing &
I thought it fair that you know why I've been playing like a maniac. Thank you ever most kindly for your anticipated & continued patience, tolerance, understanding & consideration. Take very good care & have a great day. Cheers mate! :) |
| Mar-28-06 | | who: My chat window was on the main console. When I get home I'll try that. |
Mar-28-06
 | | WannaBe: <who> If you are on Windows system, go to www.BabasChess.net and download the user interface, it's one of the best around to use with FICS. |
| Mar-28-06 | | Chess Classics: My monitor is flickering...is that a bad sign? :-)
Regards,
CC |
Mar-28-06
 | | WannaBe: <Chess Classics> Either that or your eyes are going... That's even worse!! What kind of monitor is it? Flat? Traditional with a tube? How long you've had it? |
| Mar-28-06 | | Warrush: Wannabe do you have to be a member to show Chess sighs= B and it will show a bishop sign instead of the word. |
Mar-28-06
 | | WannaBe: <Warrush> No, you do not have to be a premium member, I think that is your question. So have it show up as a symbol ♕, ♔ instead of B or K, etc... put {} around your regular text. |
| Mar-28-06 | | THE pawn: ♗,♔,G
<Wannabe> your time in our game is almost over. |
| Mar-29-06 | | Chess Classics: <WannaBe> Uh, It's about...uh...5 years old, traditional. Regards,
CC |

Mar-29-06
 | | WannaBe: <Chess Classics> My (top of my head) guess is that the machine is ready to go to monitor heaven. However, you can try to look at your monitor refresh rate. (Or have you changed that recently?) Someone else who have access to your computer played with it? If you are on Windows system, go to Start->Settings->Control Panel (I believe in XP, it is Start->Control panel) There is an icon called Display double click that. choose the settings tab, then click on 'advanced' choose the Monitor tab, and see if you change your refresh rate. This will prevent/solve SOME of the flickering problems I have seen in the past. If you choose a rate that your monitor can't support, it will give you a warning. Then just change it back to its original refresh rate. Hope this can help you somewhat. |
| Mar-29-06 | | Robin01: <WannaBe> The knight is just taking a leisurely walk in the pasture!') |
| Mar-29-06 | | Chess Classics: <WannaBe> It stopped flickering :-) But what makes you think this monitor is going to heaven?! Regards,
CC |
Mar-29-06
 | | WannaBe: <Robin01> :-)
<Chess Classics> All monitors go to heaven. |
| Mar-29-06 | | THE pawn: <WannaBe> *Groan*, why do I have to be dragged into an endgame in every game I play?! Although I can't say it's really you who tried to exchange queens... |
| Mar-30-06 | | Cogano: <THE pawn>. Don't groan. Rather be grateful for the opportunity to practice endgames. So many games end either in a draw or a player resigns or is mated in the middle-game, if not in the opening! You've been handed a great opportunity to learn & practice something you yourself admitted to being weak at & understanding poorly! Good luck my friend. :) |

| Mar-31-06 | | blingice: <WannaBe> Re: your post on the <CG.com> page. Well, in terms of Microsoft Word, it is promoted very heavily, as few jobs that make significant money DON'T have it. We must type up all our papers, and "chicken-pecking" typing has been discouraged since (I think) third grade. In eighth grade, they emmersed us in computers even more, teaching us how to use Microsoft Excel. Sometime in elementary school I learned how to use Microsoft Powerpoint. Some of my homework assignments must be answered over the internet and emailed to my teacher. If you wish to delve into programming/networking, they have specific classes one may enroll in. I don't take these, as I don't really picture myself growing to be a programmer (surgeon is where I'm aiming for). I'd say I know nearly anything/can find out nearly anything about the surface of any program, (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Paint, internet etc.), but the complicated things I haven't yet grasped. I CAN program things into graphing calculators though, which I taught myself (with a small, small amount of advice from one of my friends). |
