WannaBe: Yes!! I have a reason to continue living!! (At least until 2008 =) http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Mov...
Apr-21-06  suenteus po 147: <WannaBe> I hate to ruin your reason to go on living, but it's going to be a bad movie. The last, actually GOOD Star Trek movie was the sixth one, and even that's debatable. I can already see them hunting downing Shatner and Nimoy lookalikes a la "Dumb and Dumberer."
Apr-21-06  Open Defence: Can I audition for seven-of-nine ? :-D

WannaBe: If the d@mned gas prices keep going up, I'm opening my own rickshaw business! And hire some illegal immigrants to run them. :-)
Apr-21-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <WannaBe> I know another good reason to continue living!

No matter how @#$%ty your life gets, there's always soccer! :)

If the World Cup is over, you can start waiting for the next World Cup. :)

By the way, this reminds me: There's only 48 days remaining for the World Cup to start!

Perhaps it's time soon to start up the World Cup prediction contest?

WannaBe: yeah, I'll post another announcement after I come back from San Francisco, in about 2.5 weeks.
Apr-21-06  Chess Classics: Hey WannaBe, what's the format like at the American Open? Is their seating, or can you walk right up the boards? And are there other sections beside the open section? I ask because I'm at least going to watch, and maybe play, at the AO this year.

And no more smart-alecky stuff, or I'll sign back on to my "Baseball Bat" account (see my forum for explanation.) :-)

Regards,
CC

Apr-22-06  midknightblue: hello friends. i am at work. I dont feel good tonight. Sore throat, congestion. :(

  WannaBe: <Chess Classics> American Open have 6 sections http://www.uschess.org/msa/XtblMain... Open, U2000, U1800, U1600, U1400, and Unrated.

You're coming to LA over Thanksgiving weekend to plaY? Because it is held over the 4 day weekend, and it is 8 games, Swiss System.

You can play 2 games a day 40/2hr + 1 hr. or shortened 3 day where you play 4 gms on Friday and then 2 gms Sat & Sun.

Playing 4 gms in one day really kills the brain cell. (which was what I did. and both my opponent and I on the 4th game agreed to an early draw so we can get the h#ll out of there and get a beer!)

Let me know if you have more questions! And please leave the baseball bat at home!! :-)

Apr-23-06  Chess Classics: I'm sorry, I confused the American Open with the U.S. Open :-) Apologies mate-U.S. Open is going to be held I believe near Chicago this year.

CC

WannaBe: <Chess Classics> http://www.uschess.org/tournaments/... 9 rounds, Swiss System, 40 moves/2 hrs + 1 hr sudden death. $125 entry fee (very reasonable). Good luck, if you decide to participate. =)
Apr-24-06  Chess Classics: <WannaBe> I'm giving myself a side-ache. It was actually the National Open that I was talking about. (Really, I'm not joking :-))

But the US Open ain't a bad idea either. I'll look into these. Cheers mate!

WannaBe: I'm not sure how legal this is, but the motel I'm in, doesn't have internet, but my wireless USB adaptor have picked up an open network.

I'm piggy-backing off it, it could be the motel next door, or someone in/around the neighborhood... =)

WannaBe: <brankat> It was a nice drive. A lot of coastal scenes and then upper/middle California's countryside. Yes, I saw cows and horses. =)

I am hoping to be back in my own bed in about 10 days...

Apr-26-06  you vs yourself: We miss you too, <WannaBe>.

But California is a nice place, I hear. Enjoy your vacation there!
