WannaBe: If anyone have paid attention to the "Drama" at Portland Trail Blazers (No free Tee on seats for play-off games to start with, which is something all NBA teams do to show fan unity.) Here is a more in-depth/info (14:20m) on how cheap this new owner may be. ...

WannaBe: New lesson learned today (not exactly book lesson) playing 5/12 blitz on FICS, my opponent had about 11+ minutes and I had about 9+ minutes, it was already 82 moves.

So me, dumb a$$. offered a draw on MY TIME. After waiting for 3 minutes to asked him if he intend to wait my clock out. after 2 more minutes, and no reply, I resigned.

MEMO TO SELF, FOLLOW THE RULES. OFFER DRAW ON THEIR TIME.

May-17-06  midknightblue: even if you do offer a draw on your time, he may accept the draw up until his move, so he still gets to wait for your move, then think about his move. Anyway, at 82 moves maybe you could have still played him even - if you had 9+ minus 5 = 4+ minutes for a drawish position. Peace...MKB. See you in 4 Weeks!
May-17-06  Chopin: <Wannabe> <MEMO TO SELF, FOLLOW THE RULES. OFFER DRAW ON THEIR TIME.> Looks like you're ready for your upcoming tournament.
May-18-06  Open Defence: <wannabe> now that my eye has healed I will start posting the analysis from Winning with the Scotch ....looking forward to some nice analysis together maybe some games too

WannaBe: <Open Defence> 'looking' forward to it. =)
May-19-06  RonB52734: <MEMO TO SELF, FOLLOW THE RULES. OFFER DRAW ON THEIR TIME.>

Actually, I believe the USCF rule prefers the following sequence:

1. You make your move
2. You offer a draw
3. You punch your clock

May-19-06  RedHotPawn: <WannaBe> A minor request for you: Could you please include User: RedHotPawn in the bio of User: FICS?

Thanks. :)

May-20-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <FOOTBALL> <WORLD CUP>

<ALL>

Guys, please join the FIFA WORLD CUP FANTASY GAME!

Here is a step-by-step explanation of how to join the special chessgames-group that I have set up:

1: Visit the webpage http://en.fifaworldcup.fantasysport... and register. If you don't have a Yahoo-account yet, make sure that you get one first.

2: When registering, it is mandatory to join a public group. Choose any public group that you like.

3: When you are done registering, you have the option join a PRIVATE group.

Click on "Join Group" or just follow this link: http://en.fifaworldcup.fantasysport...

Here is the necessary info to join the chessgames group:

Group ID#: 3143

Password: chessgames

4: Now you have joined the private group for chessgames.com members!!

This way we can organize our own league and compare each other's lineups!

So far we have two people who have joined the group: <hitman84> and me.

May-20-06  themadhair: Signed up under the name The Klondai. I'm guess the inca's are <EA>, the invincibles are <Hitman84> and the hot spurs must be <azaris>.
May-21-06  FICS: <themadhair> You referring to FICS account? And your name is 'The Klondai'?
May-21-06  Open Defence: <Wannabe> about the Scotch....after 1e4 e5 2♘f3 ♘c6 3d4 exd4 which would you like to analyse first 4♘xd4 or 4♗c4 ?

WannaBe: <Open Defence> Let's do 4. Nxd4. That's the line I prefer. And I see that 4...Bc5 is the common response to it,

May-21-06  Open Defence: yes there seems to be an interesting quiet move in the database with 5c3 but looking at the position I don't think Black will have as many problems with 5c3 as in the main line against 5♗e3 to which ♕f6 is the main reply

May-21-06  Open Defence: now the main issues that arise in the Scotch is that White has forced Black to surrender the pawn center with exd4 so Black needs to actively play there.... White on the other hand has no problems in develpoing his pieces... with ♕f6 Black tries to exert pressure in the center as well as on the ♔ side..

WannaBe: There's an interesting line, 6. Nb5 with the intent of Nxc7+ later on. And the opening explorer has 6...Bxe3 7. fxe3 and white has tremendous winning percentage.

May-21-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <FICS> No, <themadhair> didn't sign up for FICS. He signed up for the World Cup Fantasy Game!
May-21-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <WannaBe> Don't you feel like joining?
May-21-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <WannaBe> <Open Defence> I played a nice Scotch Game against <tpstar> a few months ago.

You can find it here:

L Barczay vs Romanishin, 1982

May-21-06  Open Defence: <Wannabe> sorry for the delay in resuming the thread... yes ♘b5 is an interesting try especially as it makes Black consider the complications of ♕xb2 ♕h4+ and ♕e5.. it is hard for Black to sometimes see that he loses a Knight after 7..♕xb2 8♘c3 ♘b4 9♖b1 ♕xc2 10♖xb4 however ♕h4+ has some interesting variations.. I have encountered this line (I'm talking like a GM now so excuse me!!) only once in a blitz and I played ♕e5

WannaBe: <EmperorAtahualpa> As far as the Fantasy game, I'm not too interested.

<Open Defence> There is no rush. I think slow, so need time to look at your post and digest the idea/contents.

Drinking a glass of wine (Pinot Noir), hoping it would get me sleepy...

May-21-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <WannaBe> Hunting visions of Lordi are perhaps keeping you awake. :)
