WannaBe: <Open Defence> I'm slightly confused, Qh4+, is this possible? The f-pawn has not moved.

Also, if 7...Qxb2 8. Nbc3 Nb4 9. Rb1 Qxc2 10. Rxb4 I think it leads to great advantage for white.

May-21-06  percyblakeney: <FIFA World Cup Fantasy Game>

I just joined under the deeply humorous name Benoni like Beckham.

May-21-06  Open Defence: <I'm slightly confused, Qh4+, is this possible? The f-pawn has not moved> erm it did 7fxe3 ... and the line after ♕xb2 was already given .. only in the notation I guess I should have specified 8Nbc3 ... when playing blitz its easy to forget why Qxb2 is bad .. one sometimes thinks after ♘b4 that the Queen can get away with ♕xc2
May-21-06  Open Defence: I set up my team called Hasta La Pasta ... hehehe you might find it interesting
May-21-06  themadhair: <FICS>What <EA> said. I do have a FICS account though with the same handle as this one.

<The Scotch>Ever tried the Göring?

May-21-06  Open Defence: I have Milan Baros and Ibrahimovich in my line up I hope they are included in their respective teams hehehe I was too lasy to check
May-21-06  percyblakeney: Ibrahimovic is certain to play every game, and T&T and Paraguay could be easier to score against than the teams Drogba is facing in the group of the Ivory Coast...
May-21-06  Open Defence: yeah I wanted to add more Swedes but you can't make a pasta team without Inzhagi and Del Piero ... :-) the guy I missed out was Henrik Larsson .. I should have included him .. I didn't see Freddie Ljungberg either... might have missed it .. well i can substitute later on ....
May-21-06  themadhair: I see I am the only one with confidence in Claude Makalele. Did you people see how many tackles he makes for chelsea? Must be a point scorer.
May-21-06  Open Defence: I think my defensive line up itsnt the best it could be ... might have to trade a few :)
May-21-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <I have Milan Baros and Ibrahimovich in my line up I hope they are included in their respective teams hehehe I was too lasy to check>

<Open Defence. Ibrahimovic is definitely playing, but I'm not so sure about Milan Baros. Jan Koller is fit again, so perhaps he is taking his place??

May-21-06  Open Defence: too bad about Milan .. he really is something!! ...any way I have a few Croats in my team .. plus a nice forward line up ... did you see my team roster <Emperor> ? whaddya think ? sorry I dont think I have any Dutch player on yet ...
May-21-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <Open Defence> I think you put together a good team, with some nice names! I see some picks that I was considering myself, such as Inamoto and Inzaghi.

Keep in mind though, that you have to maintain a 4-4-2, 3-5-2, 3-4-3 or 4-3-3 formation. For that reason, I think you have a little too many forwards. You will never be able to have them all on the pitch! I think it's better to balance your team a little with some less forwards and some more defenders, because now you only have 3.

Also, you also made some surprising choices, about which I'm not sure if you did right... for instance, why Markus Hahnemann as goalkeeper? As far as I know, he's not the first choice for the USA team. And if he doesn't play, then you can't get any points with him...

WannaBe: <Chopin> What is going on between the dead-white-musicians is none of my business. =)
May-22-06  Open Defence: <Markus Hahnemann> he isn't first choice ? I guess I must have made an error there... I thought better to have the forwards as they need to be benched / activated along with their form and if they are going to be rested.... I plan to only substitute defenders in case of injuries....also I thought we might see more goals in the Group stages and went for more forwards hence the bias in favour of Czechs and Croats .... along with Inzaghi, Crespo and Del Piero :-)
May-22-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <Open Defence> It's Tim Howard who has #1 in the USA team, so I guess he is first choice!

[unknown player]

May-22-06  Open Defence: then I better change it... wasn't it Hanneman who made those wonderful saves in the 1994 world cup ? geez thats like 12 years ago!!!!
May-22-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <wasn't it Hanneman who made those wonderful saves in the 1994 world cup ? geez thats like 12 years ago!!!!>

<Open Defence> Yes, time flies, doesn't it. :) I also remember that World Cup like it was yesterday.

Anyway, I think it was Tony Meola who made those saves. You can find the USA team that participated in the 1994 World Cup here:

WannaBe: I see that Serbia and Montenegro has voted for a 'divorce'.

So that means next year's EuroVision Song Contest will have one more country to be made fun of. =)

It's funny, I don't usually watch 'American Idol'. I've seen 1/2 of an episode, where the theme for the contestants was to sing songs by Queen.

And each week, they have to select song by a certain artist. So you're getting the same musical style that whole show. (Country, R&R, R&B, etc.)

But this EuroVision thing is (so) totally different. You don't know what you are gonna get (At least I didn't). And some of these 'artists' are just hilarious.

Immediately comes to mind were the Iceland hottie, and the 6 'tenors' of Lithiuania. I'll definitely watch it again next year. =)

May-22-06  Open Defence: <Wannabe> what lines do you have in that ♘b5 variation of the Scotch ....anything in particular after 7..♕e5 ?
