  kingscrusher: Hi Chessgames.com

I think it might be handy to have a "Round" column for the more modern tournaments - and order pages like this by Round:

Grand Chess Tour Paris (Rapid) (2017)/Magnus Carlsen

The point is here for example, that Magnus also had a rather heated interview with Maurice Ashley about not being "smooth" - and it isn't so clear from the Chessgames.com page that actually the game vs Bacrot was the Round 9 game (final round), and the interview was around it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_h...

Now we can assume interviews are after the last round games, so I think it would be nice to put some extra priority on the "Round" information from the PGN - and order the player views by Round sequentially - to show the earliest and latest games etc.

Cheers, K

kingscrusher: Also of course the later rounds might tend to have more exhaustion-based blunders (or agreed draws to fly away quickly from tournaments) - so again the "Round" information helps put things into context.

Cheers, K

Jul-08-17  cro777: The 8th Danzhou Super Chess Grandmaster Tournament (9 - 18 July 2017)

I thought they were ordered, but I see now that the problem is that they are ordered by date only, and since they all took place on the same date, it shows an effectively random order.

Yes, a round field would be great, and solve the above problem neatly.

Hi there, and welcome to <cg>. :) (well you've been here for a while, just haven't posted anything since) In case you haven't figured it out yet, or if someone else might have the same question, after you post something, if you go underneath the post, there should be a "delete" link. Click on it, confirm, and it's gone. You have an hour to do so.

To edit a post, you have to delete the post and re-post it with the correction(s); no other way around it unfortunately.

Tabanus: <CG> Can you please add the games (n = 108) from the Norwegian Championship? They are here: http://tournamentservice.com/standi... (Hammer won).

The Carlsen effect: only one player is below 2200. Since he played no. 7 on the list, the standings will not be correct without editing. In fact, I've noticed that a limit at 2100 (rather than 2200) would improve a lot of CG's standings.

Jul-09-17  morfishine: Thank you! <whoever> updated premium membership for myself: It was a nice surprise

I would be happy to transfer premium membership to <brankat> who is far more deserving and far more popular, and understandably so

No offense to <whoever> upraded my membership to premium

Happy Chess, morf

chessgames.com: <Tab> The 2200 rule is mostly a guideline for games submitted by members. Anyhow this PGN is going to need a lot of work to clean-up. For instance,

[Event "Landsturneringen 2017"]
[Site "Clarion Energy Hotel, Stavanger"]
[Date "2017.07.08"]
[Round "9"]
[White "Aulin-Jansson, Jran"]
[Black "Risting, Eivind Olav"]
[Result "0-1"]
[WhiteElo "2267"]
[BlackElo "2295"]
[PlyCount "0"]

1. d4 [%clk 1:30:56] Nf6 [%clk 1:24:54] 2. Nf3 [%clk 1:31:17] c5 [%clk 1:25:08] 3. d5 [%clk 1:29:41] b5 [%clk 1:25:28] 4. c4 [%clk 1:24:45] g6 [%clk 1:25:16] 5. b3 [%clk 1:22:02] Bg7 [%clk 1:23:25] 6. Bb2 [%clk 1:15:43] O-O [%clk 1:20:53] 7. Qc2 [%clk 1:14:06] bxc4
etc.

chessgames.com: <morf> Yes, congratulations on having an "anonymous benefactor" just like in Great Expectations. Premium membership is non-transferable now by policy (with a few exceptions) but I don't want to be a sourpuss about it, and you're right, brankat is a great member.

I'll pass your message on to him or her and let the decision rest there. They may very well just give brankat one as well.

  chessgames.com: <CarlosAttack> Users <morfishine> and <Penguincw> are both correct.

I'd like to add that if the time period (1 hour) elapses, instead of posting here, just use the "Blow the Whistle" feature on your own post, and explain that you want your own post removed. You don't even have to explain why; one of our admins will remove it within a day.

Penguincw: I would like to further add that it is possible to delete a post up to 72 hours after posting it. After 1 hour, the link disappears, but with some manual URL editing, you can find your post.

I'm not sure which post you want to delete, but here are the possiblities (I think these are your posts, not sure as I had to manually guess; I can't delete them, only you or <cg> can)

http://www.chessgames.com/perl/kill...

http://www.chessgames.com/perl/kill...

(please don't remove this feature <cg>)

Note that if you do delete and repost a post (i.e. edit), the post does not retain its chronological order. Ex., if you choose to delete, edit and repost your above post in this forum, it will be below this post, not above, with a timestamp that is not Jul-08-17.

chessgames.com: 72 hours, really? Have you tested that?
I'm looking at the code and it is intended to prevent you from deleting it if:

(<you didn't post it>) or <it's over 60 minutes old> and <you're not an administrator>)

A long time ago somebody exploited a bug to delete thousands of posts they made beyond the expiration date; that code was added to prevent such behavior.

I'm curious where you got the 72 hour figure. Experimentation? If I understand my code correctly those links won't work for him.

Tabanus: <CG> In addition to at ChessBase, the games are also supposedly at chess24: https://chess24.com/en/watch/live-t... (click on pgn then "pgn for the tournament". But it requires membership, and I don't know if all 108 games are there. I mean, since Norway is no. 5 in the world, at least in the olympiad, where the Netherlands was 36th ;)

Tabanus: http://ratings.fide.com/topfed.phtml is some national championships to consider for inclusion. Norway only no. 24 though (and Netherlands no. 12), but the top players tend not to participate in these events. Just in case you did not know this already.

chessgames.com: <<CG> In addition to at ChessBase, the games are also supposedly at chess24> I'm confident I'll pick them up at TWIC soon. We'll get them eventually. I do have a chess24.com account, but I avoid using anything behind their paywall on Chessgames. (Not for legal reasons, just as a professional courtesy.) And plus, we are ALL so indebted to Chess24 after affording the legal team to put AGON in their place last year.

It's not often you see a company plug a competitor, but If you want to see the games right now and just can't wait, sign up to Chess24.

Jul-10-17  Alien Math: <chessgames.com> nice to see 8th Hainan Danzhou (2017) is up, they usually have some interesting games,

on other sites people could sometimes can save URL links that have the delete function preselected,

after around 72 hours i think your site provides a backup or screenshot of pages/posts which limits the 'feature' as <Penguincw> calls it
