| Nov-03-17 | | heuristic: stockfish shared analysis:
am I supposed to be able to:
1) find a position in a game
2) run stockfish on an alternative move
3) post this analysis as a kibitz for the game
i'm confused about how the analysis is cached/stored "so that future chess players can benefit from analysis done long ago"
Premium Membership Help Page
On the game page, I don't see where any analysis is accessible. thanks! |

| Nov-03-17 | | crawfb5: <Boomie: There is talk of a player page for Urcan but he is not in the player list. Where is this player page?> Olimpiu Urcan He only has one game, which is insufficient to show up in the player directory. |

| Nov-03-17 | | zanzibar: <Boomie> and sorry if I added to the confusion - as I just assumed he also had a <CG> user profile page. But player's sometimes get special editing privileges for their <CG> player page (case in point, W. So) - so my previous comments might still apply. PS- When a player doesn't show up in the <CG> player pages: Player Directory
then a search on the player name requires this page: Chessgames Home Page

yes, the results of the two buttons are viewed in a popup window. but I'm under the impression that any analysis done on a game is viewable 1) by others 2) for all timefor this game,
A Schwarz vs Bird, 1873 I don't see my analysis, can you?
I even spent 1 fuel on it! |

 | | chessgames.com: <heuristic> The way that the analysis is shared with others is that if they go to the game and go to that move and request analysis, they won’t wait for 6 seconds, they’ll instantly see your analysis, even if you spent 240 fuel (one hour) on it. The page they’ll see is here: analysis of move 31...? Perhaps you wanted the comments to appear in the PGN for others to enjoy. That’s possible as well, but you’d have to do a full game analysis. Then the link to the Stockfish analysis becomes available on that game. |

Thanks, Mr. Z for being so helpful. CG is lucky to have you lurking about. |

<Jude Acers isn't listed in the Player Directory? What the . . . ?> For how well known he is, his rating just wasn't high enough compared to the number of games we have on him, so he didn't make the cut. Fortunately I have a way to force him in there.> <FSR: The USCF fixed Acers' rating at 2399 for some time (he had been over 2400 but they thought he had gotten that high by gaming the rating system), so you could use that as his peak rating, which I'm guessing would be high enough to make the cut.> FWIW, Mustache Fred has a good point.
Jude can play!
And IMO Jude deserves to make the cut. |

| Nov-04-17 | | thegoodanarchist: Hi Daniel,
Anyway, I didn't come to this forum tonight to plug Acers' chess. I wanted to say thank you to you, for creating chessgames.com, and for all the hard work you put into it, to try to make it better. I can't remember if I ever thanked you before, but November is the month of Thanksgiving, and chessgames.com is one of the things I have to be thankful for. I think you've done a darn good job! |

 | | chessgames.com: I think the problem with Acers not appearing is that we've only got 17 of his games. I consulted another online database and they have fewer than that (and all duplicitous with ours.) If somebody submits some Acers game, he'll be in like Flynn. |

 | | Tabanus: <CG> In the big Swisses, after no. 254 all players get "255" as their placement (in the edit standings list). There may be a reason for that, but is there any chance of a lower number? If 250-300 players, often the number is between 150 and 200 for the ones with 50% score or more. In Chigorin Memorial (2017) (356 players), 208 players have 50% or more. In Cappelle-la-Grande 2014, the numbers are 600 and 345. (In general, perhaps 57-58 % say max 60% of players have 50% or more). Anyway, in almost all swisses, below no. 150 or so there are few games. Problem is: 1) editing 254 placements is a lot of work, and 2) if one stops at say placement no. 100, the remaining 154 will look ugly or even invite mistrust to the top placements. So perhaps 155, or 205? Only 29 are shown anyway (for now). Also I don't know how much work it would take to safely change the 255 number. |

 | | chessgames.com: <I think you've done a darn good job!> Thank you keypusher. It’s not all me though, so consider your praise distributed appropriately. Asian games are on the way. And thank you Tabanus for clearing up the confusion with the Chinese League. |

 | | chessgames.com: <Tab> I answered you at the Biographer Bistro. |

 | | Tabanus: <CG> I replied there as well. Probably the best place, as this may not be of public interest. |

 | | Tabanus: <thank you Tabanus> I see this only now :) Chess-Results has got it right, but they should probably rather have called the short-lasting event the Chinese Team Championship. And thanks in return! If you find me tiresome: IMO you're doing exceptionally well in all fields except one: the event tables and what the bios are filled with - the "historical" parts. |

 | | chessgames.com: <Tab> I hope you're not saying this was bad advice? <On the other hand, the Chinese Team Championships (2017) (why plural btw) really belongs to the Chinese Chess League (2017), and should be merged with this (under the latter name).> I merged them this weekend. |

 | | Tabanus: Yikes CG. No it's correct I'm pretty sure of that. http://www.chess-results.com/tnr285... and also https://chess24.com/en/embed-tourna... have it right, chess24 with the right name too. In CG, the games in June have "CHN Team Men", e. g. Yu Yangyi vs Yinglun Xu, 2017. |

 | | Phony Benoni: OK, what have I done now? I was working on this collection: Game Collection: US Championship 1961/62 When I noticed that a video was appearing at the bottom of the text, above the games section. Investigating, I found similar videos not only on the public pages of my own collections, but on everybody else's as well. I suppose I must have embedded something or other somehow, but I have no idea of what or how to fix it. |

 | | Phony Benoni: <CG> Indeed. Many thanks for the quick response. |
