| Mar-11-11 | | YouRang: From the CONDITIONS window of the current Team game: <Current number of players: 100 vs 102 > If my understanding correctly how these team games work, then calling them all "players" is a bit of a misnomer. Some of the user IDs shown in the roster are non-premium members, and while they can observe the forum of the team they belong to, they cannot post here nor vote for moves, which seems to greatly diminish their ability to "play". My suggestion to <chessgames.com>: On the CONDITIONS window and on the ROSTER page, make a distinction between "players" (i.e. premium members) and "observers" (non-premium members). It would give us a better feel for who is really playing. :-) |

 | | OhioChessFan: Maybe they could make a distinction between "Analysts" and "Spacebar Masters" |

 | | chessgames.com: <YouRang> I think you are mistaken, all 202 of those players are bona fide team members. The only way for a non-premium to be a member of a team is if their membership just expired in the past few days, right after they signed up. There doesn't happen to be any member in that circumstance. |

 | | chessgames.com: We are very sorry that Benjamin Lau, Hayton3 and WMD decided to leave us. They all chose to leave on their own free will, although in at least the case of Hayton3 the chosen method of departure was to go berserk in the forums. We don't think that their decision to leave us was the result of any policy we have. There will always be people who join a web community up to the point where they encounter somebody that disagrees with them, and then they will leave. Sometimes people are glad to see them go, other times it's a crying shame, but either way there isn't anything we can do about it. On the other hand. it could very well be that some of those three are still be among us, and that's fine by us. We wish them well, where ever they are. |

| Mar-11-11 | | hms123: <chessgames.com> I found this user: User: CassieAinsworthLover
who has never kibitzed and does not appear to have a premium membership. This user joined on March 29, 2010, and thus could not have had a premium membership unless you now have memberships for under one year. this user is listed on Team Black. |

| Mar-11-11 | | twinlark: Hi ceegee. Any chance of Aeroflot B and C being included in the tournaments in the database? |
|
| Mar-11-11 | | YouRang: <chessgames.com> Really! I guess I jumped to the wrong conclusion then. But I did so because I happened to be looking at the black team roster, and looking at the profiles of members that I didn't recognise. On just the first 3 lines of names, I found 6 team members that don't appear to be premium members: Dieago
thom
gerpm
willyfly
Orion Sphere
stoffels
So these 6 (out of 17 shown) members all happened to expire in the days since this game began? Interesting. Anyway, I didn't look any deeper -- I just figured these first 3 lines were typical -- hence that non-premium members were plentiful. Well, sorry about the false alarm! :-\ |
|
| Mar-11-11 | | YouRang: <chessgames.com> <hms123> After doing a quick scan of the names on both teams, I believe there are around 18 non-premium members on each team. So, about 1 of every 6 players are non-premium members. This seems high, unless people whose premium memberships are right on the verge of expiring develop a mysterious and irresistible urge to join team games. ;-) |
|
| Mar-11-11 | | chessmoron: <YouRang> and <hms13> All the people you listed all FULL MEMBERS. When you see "chessgames.com full member sandwiched between ">> Click here to see X's game collections." AND X" has kibitzed X times to chessgames" |
|
Mar-11-11
 | | OhioChessFan: <hms> those are all full members. Just because they don't have an icon doeesn't mean they are not. |

 | | OhioChessFan: Yes, <chessmoron> I just went to the trouble of checking out a premium member and non-premium and was about to post that. |
|
| Mar-11-11 | | YouRang: Ah, <chessmoron> solved the case! And today I learned that some premium members don't show an avatar on their profile pages. I presume that this is the case for people just use the "default" avatar. <chessmoron> Thanks for the lesson. <chessgames.com> I'll stop wasting time & space now. :-( |

 | | tpstar: <We don't think that their decision to leave us was the result of any policy we have> All three had serious issues with Posting Guideline #3. <some of those three are still among us> Benjamin Lau left for good; the other two have returned many times. <Benjamin Lau> didn't depart solely because of <AJ> - remember what <square dance> said to <actual> about Angelina Jolie? ;>D |

| Mar-12-11 | | Benzol: I believe User: Jilted Rook was one alter-ego that <hayton3> had. BTW really liked the 14 reasons someone would post at chessgames.com. Tony what other incarnations has he had? |

 | | chessgames.com: <<We don't think that their decision to leave us was the result of any policy we have> All three had serious issues with Posting Guideline #3.> That's true of course, I didn't express that very well. What I meant was, that there isn't some golden set of policies which would have caused them to remain on the site happily posting. By the way, speculation as to which users are reincarnations is not particularly welcome on the user support forum. If you want to speculate on your own chessforums, go for it. |

| Mar-13-11 | | Lennonfan: <chessgames.com> why have one of my posts on a game regarding nakamura v life master AJ goldsby been removed?? Would you clarify if it was mr nakamura or goldsby who requested this post removed??
Or your good selves?? |

Mar-14-11
 | | chessgames.com: <Annie K> Yes we have been working on a way to make a pronunciation icon cause a small window to pop-up that plays the audio file. It gets a little tricky because not every browser allows for audio embedding in the same way. Another issue is that your *.m4a files might not be the best choice--we may have to convert them into more traditional mp3 files for maximum compatibility. We are still very keen on the idea though and look forward to seeing it implemented. <WannaBe> Sorry, that site keeps asking us to sign-in. What is it? Something about chess? Or a clue about Daniel Freeman Hospital? <LennonFan> If a post of yours is gone from a game page it must have been an admin, as no members other than admins can remove messages from game pages. Also: there are several reasons why we chose to make the team game available to premium members only, not the least of which is to encourage people to sign-up for premium membership. |

 | | chessgames.com: Back to the subject of <gametyping> we just processed a huge number of correction slips that adjusted many game types, mostly to RAPID and BLITZ. Special thanks to User: amadeus who must have submitted a thousand of them. Hundreds of other miscellaneous corrections were also made. |
